Story
Howie (with his son Junior) were adopted five years ago when Howie was about 2. They are good at spending their days at home together while their human is at work and then cuddling on the weekends. Their human has gotten sick and won't be able to return home, so they are looking for a new home. They don't bark much, but Junior is good for alerting about things in the home. Howie is quiet and sweet. Junior has more energy and takes care of things. They don't chew up anything and require little care. They need some house training (for pooping only) and they will be great companions.

Story
Morgan is a sweet 4-year-old pup who truly just wants to be by your side. Whether you’re relaxing at home or heading out for an adventure, she’s happiest simply being wherever you are.   She’s a joy to take out and about - Morgan walks nicely on a leash and rides calmly in the car, making her an easy companion for errands or road trips. At home, she’s been learning her routine and has started to let her people know when she needs to go out, showing great progress with her house manners.   Morgan has a gentle, easygoing personality. She gets along well with cats and seems like she would do just fine with other dogs, too. She’s comfortable in her crate but also enjoys lounging nearby - especially in the den, where she’ll quietly settle into her bed while her foster mom works.   One of Morgan’s most endearing traits is her calm nature. She’s not a barker (at least, she hasn’t been so far), and she brings a peaceful presence to any home. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion who will happily stick by your side, Morgan could be the perfect match.   Are you ready to be her forever companion? Learn more about our adoption process below and fill out an adoption application to take the first step in giving Morgan the home she deserves! Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria. You must be at least 21 years old. You must live within a 60-mile radius of Richardson, Texas. You must share veterinary records for all pets currently in your home and all pets owned in the last five years. All pets in the home must be spayed or neutered. If you rent your home, you must provide verification that pets are allowed on the property. You must be willing to be interviewed by an adoption counselor and you must undergo a home visit from an RHS representative. Apply. You can complete an application at an MTP event or complete it online by either clicking the button below or the “Adopt” button beneath the pet’s photo in the listings above. Phone Interview or Attend a Meet the Pets (MTP) event. This is a great opportunity to meet the pet you are interested in and see if you connect. We hold these events once a month on Saturday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. We post the pets who are expected to attend on Friday evening on our Facebook page. For exact details and locations, view our event calendar. If an event is over a week away, a counselor may contact you for a phone interview. Home Visit. If all the steps above are completed satisfactorily, we will set up a home visit where you can meet the pet you are interested in again and the pet can meet other pets in the family. We will try to send the foster parent so you can learn more about how the pet is in a home environment. Complete Adoption. If all feel it is a good match, we will schedule the adoption at MTP or an off-site location. The applicant will need to complete the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs, $300 for puppies (under 1 year) and $135 for cats. Discounts are available for senior-aged pets.   ##2666118##

Story
Pixie is a gentle senior sweetheart with a calm, curious personality and a soft spot for people. She is potty trained and has lived in a home with adult men, women, and a 10-year-old child. She primarily lived outdoors. Pixie is gentle, friendly, and affectionate with children and adults. She is playful in a soft, easygoing way and enjoys human attention. She is also friendly with other dogs. With cats, she is not a match—she may snap or growl. Curious, calm, and gentle-natured. Pixie enjoys simple comforts and her favorite toy is her pink plastic house. Pixie previously had a mammary gland tumor that was surgically removed by the shelter. Story
Meet Onyx, a charming little puppy with a big personality. She may be a low-riding mix of Australian cattle dog, Labrador, and Basset hound, but that doesn't stop her from tearing around the yard at top speed, often outpacing her golden retriever foster sister. Athletic and energetic, she loves staying active both physically and mentally. Onyx enjoys the great outdoors just as much as cozy time inside, happily cuddling up for a movie or TV show. No matter your lifestyle, she's sure to be a wonderful addition to the family. She's available for adoption through www.dallasdog.org. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Their story is one of those “this is why rescue exists” moments. This mom and her puppies were found running loose in South Texas, trying to survive on their own. At one point, one of the puppies actually fell into a drain, and the Donna Fire Department had to come out and rescue him. Thankfully they were able to pull the puppy out safely, and the whole little family is now on their way to us.
