Story
MEET SAM! (Descriptor: Snuggler) This silly and happy-go-lucky ~2yr old guy was brought in by animal control for being tied outside with no shelter or food/water. His past has not affected him one bit, and he absolutely loves life, people and other dogs. His records say he is a Doberman mix, but we don't believe it. Because of his delicious OVERbite, we think he may be part shark! At 55 lbs, he'd fit in any pool or tub. Sam knows 'sit,' 'down,' 'wait,' 'leave it,' and has excellent leash manners. He has been training with his foster Mom and now drops into a down position and patiently waits for his food despite being just soooo excited to eat! He (mostly) comes when called and will wait to be released in the morning after sleeping on his dog bed so he won’t rush his family when getting up. Sam is house broken and crate trained, and he enjoys taking naps outside of his crate during the day. While Sam adores attention and affection and he will practically swoon when you brush him. His love language is physical touch! He will lean and bend around you on the couch until he settles half on and half off your lap. Even though he loooooves his people, Sam can entertain himself with his chew toy. Sam absolutely loves other dogs and plays well and hard with both male and female dogs his size or smaller. Sam lives successfully with another dog and a dog savvy cat in his foster home. We recommend he go to a home with another dog and we know he is good with children 12 and up.  Sam’s adoption donation fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Sam by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.June 8, 2024, 6:47 pm

Story
Meet Toby, a delightful 6-year-old Doberman/Hound mix weighing 56 pounds. This friendly canine is both dog and cat-friendly, making him a versatile companion. Toby is house and crate trained, though occasional accidents may occur if he feels anxious – a manageable aspect with the right home environment and schedule. In terms of an ideal home, Toby thrives in a large fenced yard where he can run and play with doggie friends. He tends to be more comfortable around females or patient men, as he is timid but not aggressive. Working from home is a bonus, and early risers would be a great match for Toby's energetic mornings. Recognizing Toby's need for confidence-building, he would benefit from a household with opportunities for training and growth. Early risers are a plus, and having a playful dog friend is essential for his well-being. While cats and older children (16 and above) are welcome, a calm environment is preferred. Despite his timidity, Toby is a super sweet dog who loves to run in the yard, is leash trained, and enjoys playing with toys. He is healthy, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. The reason for rehoming stems from the owner's unfortunate struggle with illness, prompting the search for a loving and understanding forever home for Toby.June 17, 2024, 7:53 am

Story
Hi, my name is Fury! But I'm more like a happy, gentle breeze that wants to have fun! You might recognize my name from the famous character Director Nick Fury of the Marvel movies, I'm kinda like him: I love being the center of attention and don't like it when people take my stuff! I am a big dog! With my mixed Doberman Pinscher/Black Labrador genes I am a whopping 52#/lbs and have a ton of energy and muscle that needs to be worked! Because of this it would be best if I was paired with an active family who knows how to keep a dog mentally stimulated and respects my boundaries well. No apartment living for me please! No cats or small children either! My caretakers have learned some important things about me: I am a chow-hound and will try to eat anything I can get my hands on! So please leave food out of reach from me or I'll swoop it all up. Secondly, I would prefer if people didn't grab things that I have in my mouth, it's mine not yours hehe! Overall, I am a big-hearted dog who wants to go play, be adventurous, have fun with other people and dogs! I am however not such a big fan of car rides, they make my tummy feel sick eww! I love all people and dogs, am a healthy, happy boy and just want to find my home. Let's work together and find it!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
I will be your new best friend! I like nothing more than to sit by your side or even between your legs all the time. I obey instantly because I want to please you. All your belongings are safe with me -- I do not chew anything, not even toys. I am OK with being alone for a couple hours, but please don't leave me all day. I don't bark either, so life with me is very peaceful. I am wary of strangers and want to protect you, so proper introductions are very important. Then I am a lovebug! I do enjoy going outside, either on a walk or exploring my yard for strange smells. When I see you pick up the leash, I get so excited that I can hardly sit still! But because I am a hunting breed, it is a good idea to make sure that no little wildlife is in my yard when I am released. A comfortable bed, good food, and someone to love all day is all I ask! My Profile: Age: 6 years Weight: 67 lbs Good with kids: Yes Good with dogs: Some Good with cats: Unknown but doubtful Fenced yard: Yes Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: No House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Unknown but not necessary Barks when left alone: No Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Sit, stop, come Activity level: Medium Meet Me If you are interested in Spartacus, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application at pgspca.org. Story
We are moving overseas for a temporary job and looking to rehome our beloved pup Archie until we return in January 2026. We adopted Archie in 2014 and he's now the most puppy-faced 10-year-old boy you've ever seen (seriously, we still get stopped on the street constantly asking if he's a puppy!). He has been a loyal companion, witnessing our family grow as we married and welcomed two human babies, now ages 6 and 2. Archie is a top-notch snuggler, full of energy on walks, and incredibly patient with little ones. Until very recently he would run his little heart out at the dog park, consistently faster than dogs half his age. Having spent the first year of his life in shelters, however, he does come with some baggage and still experiences separation anxiety. Archie would do best in a home with at least one person home the majority of the time and/or with another dog to keep him company. He is house-trained, but resists the crate. Please consider taking in our special guy!

Story
Meet Bo-Blue! Bo-Blue is a super sweet 6-year-old blue/tan male Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. Bo came to us when his owner fell on hard times and could not properly care for him any longer. Blue Dobermans are known for their great personalities and Bo is no exception! He is a big sweet, goofy boy that loves to follow you around, sit by your side to be petted and give you big, happy, kisses. He will grab a toy and do the cutest wiggle butt dance to greet you when you come home or when you get up in the morning. Bo gets along well with the other dogs and has lived with a female Doberman whom he loved. He walks pretty well on the leash with occasional pulling out of excitement when he sees something he’s interested in. He has plenty of energy to keep up with the younger dogs for play time but is good to hang out with you and chill also. He loves to run in the yard or go out for a walk. He prances and dances through life, grabbing a toy for the dance and is ready to go. I’ve taken him to the local feed store, and he was a perfect gentleman sitting for treats and loving the attention. He rides well in the car with his seat belt restraint. He settles down well after a short period of initial excitement. As is common with many blue and fawn Dobermans, Bo has a thinning coat which does not affect him at all health wise, he just has less hair. Having a good diet will help him maintain his coat. Bo prefers not to be crated and does well without one as long as he isn't left for long periods of time. He would probably do well in a situation where he doesn’t have too many hours alone to limit his boredom. He prefers being with his people as opposed to being left alone. He is a super friendly boy so he is happy to go along with you! Bo is accustomed to sleeping on the furniture so his new owner should be ok with that. If you are looking for a sweet, friendly/goofy companion that will shower you with love, Bo Blue may be your guy! Bo is in Maryland. DAR&E adopts to MD, VA, DC, DE, eastern parts of WV and southern parts of PA. Please check with other Doberman rescues in areas not listed.
