This handsome young guy is ready to find a forever home where he can be loved and included in all of life’s adventures! Elk is sweet, goofy, and an all-around good boy. He has a loving nature, enjoys being around people, and brings that fun, happy energy to the mix! He does well with other dogs and has a friendly, social personality. He could enjoy a canine companion in the home or do well as your one-and-only with continued socialization. Elk is smart, treat-motivated, eager to learn, and eager to please his handler—making him a great candidate for continued training and bonding activities. He walks well on leash and loves going on walks with his people, making him a great partner for daily outings and adventures. Animal Information: Alfalfa is a handsome 2-year-old, 50-pound, male Doberman Pinscher mix with the sweetest presence to match his good looks. He was at risk at the Stanislaus shelter, and after seeing his notes and videos we knew we had to save him. According to staff, this sweetheart absolutely loves attention and is always happy to soak up affection from his people. He's patient in his kennel, easy to leash, and walks nicely on leash with only minor pulling. Once he's in the yard, his playful side shines -- get ready for some serious zoomies! Alfalfa enjoy being pet all over and is especially a fan of booty scratches. While he can be a little jumpy when excited, he listens well to "no" and "down", already knows how to sit and is eager to please. As a bonus, he's incredibly photogenic and always camera-ready! Foster Profile: Alfalfa is a sweet boy with lots of love to give! He is energetic but not 'wild' and would make a great hiking or jogging buddy. He loves fetch in the yard, going on walks, and hanging out with his people getting pets and love. He is good in his crate, but can be vocal when left alone so we are not considering apartments for him at this time. He is potty trained, and rides well in the car. Alfalfa can be a bit mischievous, and is learning the ropes of being in a house, but with proper guidance we believe he will thrive. He is very food motivated and wants to please, making training good stimulation for him. As Alfalfa has settled in he has demonstrated some leash reactivity as well as guardian breed behavior with new people, both are improving with the guidance of his committed fosters. He is great with other dogs off leash, big and small, and responds well to their c o rrections if they aren't up for his enthusiasm. Alfie is a smart, trainable guy, who will benefit from an owner with strong leadership skills and large breed experience. His foster home had a lot of animals, so he hasn’t had much experience yet with walks or outings, but he’s done great living with small dogs and cats. Flint is a playful, sweet puppy looking for a family to bond with and help teach him the ropes so he can grow into a well-mannered gentleman. Unfortunately, due to a tragic accident, his owner passed away and Apollo has returned to the rescue. Apollo is crate trained, house trained, and friendly with other dogs. In true Doberman form, he can be watchful of strangers, but does make friends easily. Apollo has great manners inside and outside the home, and will be a wonderful companion to one lucky family. He thrives as an only pet and would do best with someone who understands the value of patience and trust. Once you've earned his loyalty, Apollo is deeply devoted and eager to please his person. In the home, Apollo is easy to live with. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, knows all his basic commands and walks beautifully on leash. He prefers a quiet environment and enjoys having his own space, especially when it comes to interactions with other dogs. While he currently lives alongside other canines, he does not actively seek their company and would rather do his own thing. They were born in foster care in Modesto, and the shelter staff wanted to avoid putting them into a kennel enviornment, so they reached out to see if we could help. How could we say no? These puppies are healthy and social, and will be large breed dogs that would do best in homes with working breed experience, in single family residences with fenced yards. Foster Profile: We love Vesper, and she would make an amazing addition to any family. She is highly affectionate and loves to cuddle up in your lap or arms and take a nap. She has been around young kids and does great. She's playful and quick to learn - she's already picking up basic skills like "sit," "touch," and "come." She's highly social and loves everyone she meets (and vice versa). She does really well in the car and in public (outdoor seating at restaurants, breweries, etc.). Anyone will be lucky to have her!
