FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME MEEDED! Say hello to Astro! ❤️ Astro is a handsome 3-year-old, 75-pound Doberman who came to us from a high-kill shelter in California. While we don’t know much about his history, Astro appears to have lived in a home before, and he certainly knows how to be a loving companion! This sweet, happy boy is the perfect combination of goofy, bouncy, affectionate, and loyal. Like many Dobermans, Astro bonds deeply with his people and would much rather be by your side than left out of the fun. He would thrive with a family who has plenty of time to spend with him and loves bringing their dog along for adventures. Astro walks well on leash and loves being outdoors, but he’s equally happy lounging around the house and cuddling with his people. Astro can be reactive toward other dogs when out and about and can be a bit vocal. With slow, thoughtful introductions, he can do well with other dogs, but he would thrive with a family who is committed to continuing his socialization and helping him build confidence and positive experiences. Because of his size, energy, and vocal nature, Astro would do best in a standalone home with a securely fenced yard rather than an apartment or high-density living environment. Animal Information: Flint is a 6.5 month old Doberman mix rescued by a Good Samaritan in SoCal. His foster home had a lot of animals, so he hasn’t had much experience yet with walks or outings, but he’s done great living with small dogs. Flint is a playful, sweet puppy looking for a family to bond with and help teach him the ropes so he can grow into a well-mannered gentleman. He has the typical rambunctiousness of a Doberman puppy, but is smart and eager to please. Foster Profile: Flint is super sweet, he’s very energetic and LOVES to play. His favorite toys are anything he can chase and catch! He is highly food motivated, making training sessions easy and fun, though he will need someone patient to keep training fun and exciting for him. He is great with other dogs; he plays rough with smaller dogs and does need a bit of management when he disregards social cues. I chalk this up to his puppy brain. lol H e’s a very rambunctious puppy! We are looking for a single family home with breed experience and a securely fenced yard for Flint. Animal Information: Alfalfa is a handsome 2.5 year-old, 50-pound, male Doberman Pinscher mix with the sweetest presence to match his good looks. He was at risk at the Stanislaus shelter, and after seeing his notes and videos we knew we had to save him. According to staff, this sweetheart absolutely loves attention and is always happy to soak up affection from his people. He's patient in his kennel, easy to leash, and walks nicely on leash with only minor pulling. Once he's in the yard, his playful side shines -- get ready for some serious zoomies! Alfalfa enjoy being pet all over and is especially a fan of booty scratches. Foster Profile: Alfalfa ("Alfie") is a sweet boy with lots of love to give! He is energetic but not 'wild' and would make a great hiking or jogging buddy. He loves fetch in the yard, going on walks, hanging out with his people, and getting pets and love. He is good in his crate, but can be vocal when left alone, so would do best in a house where there are often people around. He is potty trained, and rides well in the car. He plays well with all sorts of other dogs, and is great with children (at least as young as 4). He tolerates cats in the home just fine. He has a loyal and protective instinct, and needs to personally inspect anyone who comes to the house. However, once told that the new human is "safe" he becomes very friendly. His instinct is to pull on leash to greet other dogs, but can be redirected fairly easily. He's very smart and eager to please and learn. His happy place is being snuggled up with the humans he trusts! Alfie will do best with a fenced yard and would love another playful dog in his home, but would do okay with an active family that can make sure he gets plenty of exercise. No apartments for this active guy! Animal Profile: Taylor's story began in October 2024 when she appeared on a rural property in Wapato with her nine puppies. The property owner was unwilling to feed or care for the family and threatened to let them starve. A rescue contact reached out for help, and because Taylor and her puppies were left outside exposed to the elements, they were brought into rescue together. After spending a year in rescue, Taylor was adopted but was recently returned due to low-level nipping behaviors toward unfamiliar people approaching her space. With a newborn in the home and frequent visitors, her adopters felt they weren't able to provide the management and training she needed to be successful. Taylor is looking for an experienced home with someone familiar with large working breeds who understands the importance of advocating for her space, respecting her boundaries, and allowing her to build trust with new people at her own pace. She is a favorite among rescue volunteers, who regularly take her on walks, and she absolutely loves getting out for a long stroll or adventures. Foster Update: Taylor spent her first year with the rescue in a home with other dogs and a toddler, whom she loved. While Taylor can share space with other dogs, she doesn't particularly enjoy their company and would be happiest as the only dog in the home. She is house-trained, settles nicely in a solid-sided kennel, but can be talkative when left alone, so she's best suited for a single-family home rather than an apartment. She has a very high prey drive and cannot be placed in a home with cats or other small animals. Taylor has good basic obedience skills, including sit, down and place. She walks in a nice heel with a training collar, and would love to join a home with Doberman breed or similar experience. Walker did great in shelter play groups with large and small dogs, and is social and friendly with everyone on the staff. This handsome boy is respectful of space and walks well on leash. We can't wait to meet him! Foster Profile: Some dogs you just know have all the makings of a fantastic companion. This boy is one of those! He absolutely loves to play -- fetch, tug, you name it. If you're not free for a game, he'll play by himself tossing his toys into the air! He is gentle and engaging with kids (as young as 4) and not particularly mouthy. He is learning crate training and house training and will be a quick study for obedience training because he's so eager to please. He already walks well on a leash. He does great with the pack of four dogs (male, female and a puppy) in his foster home but he's excitable on leash so will need training for public access. He's not aggressive to livestock (goats/chickens) and we expect he'd do great with cats too. His ideal family wants an active companion and is committed to training to make sure this big boy will be fulfilled and well-behaved.
