Story
Meet Maple! She is a 7 years old Doberman and was found stray with an unregistered microchip. Maple is a big girl, weighing in at about 75 pounds and her tail is docked, but she has cute floppy ears. Maple is such an amazing dog. She’s totally housebroken and is excellent with kids and all dogs. She really couldn’t care less about anything, as long as she has a couch to lay on! She is very affectionate and gives nice kisses, not too slobbery, I might add! She loves to sit close on the couch and will put her head in your lap. She’s very quiet and exceptionally well behaved!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or $200 for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.June 6, 2023, 7:27 am

Story
Animal Profile: Copper is an estimated 1-2-year-old, 80 lb neutered male red Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail that joined us from Georgia via Project Freedom Ride. He was originally picked up as a stray and at the shelter was evaluated to be very friendly with dogs and people. We will post more as we get to know him. Foster Update:  Copper is young and full of energy, but can be worn out easily with exercise and definitely has an off switch. He is cautious around new people, but once he warms up to them (or they give him a treat) he is very affectionate. He is able to make friends with other dogs after slow and proper introductions. With a confident handler, Copper is mostly non reactive to others on leash. He is good on leash, but could use some training; he leads but does not pull. He loves to chase after balls, but is still working on returning and dropping them. Adopter Profile: large breed experience, breed experience a plus! Single family dwelling with a securely fenced yard. No cats or small animals. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/Bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org Animal History:  This dog was picked by animal control in GA and pulled by PFR before being transported via Project Freedom Ride to Seattle, arriving to foster care on 10/22/22. This dog will be available for adoption in Seattle once evaluated.June 6, 2023, 7:40 pm

Story
Animal Profile:  Simon is an estimated 10.5 month old male Dobie/Hound mix that a good samaritan in  south Texas  took in along with his 4 siblings. They joined us in the PNW  on 12/9.  Foster Update: Simon arrived from Texas in December emaciated, weighing just 30 pounds, and terrified of everything. Now a muscular 60 pounds, he's thriving in his foster home on a small farm with seven other dogs and three cats. He's high energy, playful, and very puppyish, Simon would love a forever home with space to run; another large, playful dog to help him burn off energy; plenty of toys and chews to entertain him (he loves ALL toys); and people who will appreciate and return his affection and his love of snuggling. Still prone to being anxious and barky with new people and new animals, Simon's family should be ready to continue working on his confidence in new situations, helping him overcome his stranger-danger, and teaching him appropriate boundaries. Food-oriented and eager to please, Simon is a quick learner who has the potential to be a good running buddy and enjoy dog sports like agility (once he's finished growing). He does well in his playpen or crate (with chews and toys to entertain him) when his people are away. He loves cats but wants to play with them, so could be overwhelming for a shy cat, but does well with dog-savvy cats who aren't afraid of his boisterousness. This sweet, expressive, affectionate boy has big love to give and will make a fabulous lifelong companion for someone willing to put in the work to help him be his best self.-- Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from OUR RESCUE PARTNER in Texas and arriving to Seattle area foster care on X/X. This dog will be fostered in the greater Seattle area and available for adoption once evaluated.June 6, 2023, 7:40 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Demi is an approximately 1-year-old, 73 lb spayed female Doberman German Shepherd mix (DNA tested in foster care) who joined us from Tulare County Animal Shelter on 3/19. She is smart and social with people and dogs. We will share more information as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update: Demi is a very sweet and smart girl.True to her breed mix (we DNA tested her as we had to know what she was!) she is loyal, intelligent, goofy and... thoughtful.  Recently we have been spending our days outside and she hangs out and sometimes can be found hiding her toys. She is a big girl so we are working on leash training but she is very motivated so it has not been an issue. She already knows sit, down, and paw. We are still working on settling down in the house but while in her crate or on a leash she is wonderful. She enjoys being right by your feet getting pets and  often tries to climb into your lap. She is very gentle but occasionally she does jump up, which we are working on, and due to her size would not recommend small children. She is a very affectionate dog but true to her breed can be a bit suspicious or watchful of new people. Overall Demi is a wonderful dog and will make a great addition to anyone's household. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and recent examination with a veterinarian. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Tulare California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on 3/19/23. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.June 6, 2023, 7:40 pm

Story
Zak came back to Resilient Hearts due to a change of circumstances for his owner. We adore this beautiful boy who needs an adopter to help him trust the world a little more. According to our current foster, Zak is an excellent boy in the house. He’s the most loving and cuddly dog she has ever met, is willing to chill and sleep while the humans work. He is crate trained, and has never had a potty incident inside the house. He has the best personality of any dog they've ever fostered. Zak really wants to please his humans. He loves to work on training and learn new tricks - he’s really smart and receptive! Basically he’s an awesome dog. His absolute favorite thing to do is go on walks and sniff all the smells. Zak missed out on some early training. On the leash Zak has been reactive to bigger dogs (not aggression-based, purely excitement) and needs to be approached slowly by strangers. (this one is fear-based). We have been working on both of these and he's doing great. Zak would probably thrive in a more rural suburban environment where encounters with others dogs is less frequent than crowded, urban neighborhoods. He is fine going to homes with other dogs if the chemistry is right. If you would like to meet this beautiful dog, please send us an email to meet this beautiful boy. And please be patient. We have one adoption coordinator doing his best to coordinate adoptions for many pups. WE DO NOT RESPOND TO ADOPT A PET INQUIRIES OR PHONE CALLS, ONLY EMAILS. If you have any additional questions, or would like to adopt Zak, please send us an email at resilientheartsanimalsanctuary@gmail.com and we will send you an adopter survey. Please note that we are a foster to adopt only rescue. As a foster, you get to "test drive" your chosen dog to make sure it's a good fit prior to adoption. We want you and the dog to have the best fit possible! Resilient Hearts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit animal rescue in Seattle, WA. 100% of adoption fees go towards helping us save more high-risk animals, and unite them with their forever families in the PNW! If you would like to learn more about us, please visit resilientheartsanimalsanctuary.org or follow us on Instagram & Facebook @ResilientHeartsAnimalSanctuary!
