Story
Ray (A141440) is a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees who weighed 70.5 pounds on intake! 03/11/26 This beautiful mother-daughter duo is Appa and Ray! They were surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of their own. We are not requiring that they be adopted together, but if you are looking for two dogs that are already established with each other, these ladies could be the ones for you. They were pet dogs and are used to living an indoor lifestyle. They were stated to be kennel trained, housebroken, ride well in a car, and know their basic commands. Both of these girls have histories of ear infections and were placed on a limited-ingredient diet while at the shelter. This is something their next owner(s) will want to keep an eye on and consult with their vet if they see any issues arising. Ray was treated by the shelter vet for a severe ear infection on arrival at the shelter. It is recommended that her adoptive owner follows up with their vet if it is not fully resolved by 3/21. Appa and Ray were said to love people and have previously done well with people of all ages! These ladies were known to jump up on people and give â&#194&#128&#194&#156hugsâ&#194&#128&#194&#157. Something to keep in mind with small children in the home. They were described as â&#194&#128&#194&#156wearyâ&#194&#128&#194&#157 around other animals and may enjoy being the only pet/pets in the home. If you plan to introduce them to other animals, do so in a slow, safe, and controlled environment to help set them up for success. They were described as loving and caring dogs who deserve to find good homes. If you are interested in meeting Ray, Appa, or the pair, please let us know! March 14, 2026, 12:02 am

Story
Frida is a fun, active girl with a big personality and lots of love to give! She was described by her previous family as very active, rambunctious, affectionate, and a little shy when meeting new visitors—a great mix of playful energy and sweet companionship! In the shelter we have primarily seen Frida’s shy side but we know with time she will begin to show her true personality! Frida has been an indoor dog and already comes with some wonderful house manners. She is potty trained and will wait by the door when she needs to go outside. She is also crate trained and has done well being crated for up to six hours when left home alone. This smart girl already knows several commands including sit, stay, off, leave it, and no, and she enjoys car rides and spending time with her people. She has been allowed on furniture in her previous home, so she may happily assume couch privileges if invited! Frida gets along well with adult men and women and has reportedly done well with other dogs. She has not lived with children, so any introductions should be thoughtful. She is not a match for homes with cats or small animals, as she does have a tendency to chase them. One thing to note: Frida does not love having her paws handled and may pull away during nail trims, so patience and positive reinforcement will go a long way there. Although her previous paperwork mentioned possible sedation for vet visits, she did very well during intake handling and vaccines with shelter staff and showed no issues! Frida is looking for a home that can match her energy, continue building her confidence, and give her the structure and affection she deserves!

Story
My sister who is 67 and lives in Wasilla, AK, recently suffered the passing of her husband and is in hospice end of life care. She is not expected to live beyond the current month. She has a sweet dog, Boo, who needs a home. Boo is 6 years old, a Chihuahua, very friendly and easily acquaints with strangers. I have only seen Boo interact with adults; not children or other pets, so do not know how he would respond. Boo is pee pad trained and has rarely been outside as my sister has been bed and chair bound for his whole life. That said, he would no doubt enjoy the fresh air. He is a loving and doting companion who enjoys car rides, (when his "dad" was alive he went everywhere with him), and watching tv. He just wants to be where his person/people are.

Story
Harlow James (A139931) is a 4-year-old Lab mix who weighed nearly 60 pounds on intake! 03/13/26 Mister Harlow James is back at the shelter due to no fault of his own. His most recent owners were also unable to find housing that allowed pets. His most recent owners said Harlow does well with humans of all ages and described him as being outgoing, gentle, friendly, and affectionate (and cuddly)! He was also said to ride well in the car and to mind generally well. He has been known to dig and get into the trash on occasion, but he was said to be housebroken and kennel trained! Harlow is looking to be an only pet where he can soak up all the attention and cuddles to himself. He still needs slow introductions to other dogs when meeting them out and about. He is not very good at picking up on social cues and sometimes comes off too strong. If you are interested in meeting Harlow, please give us a call!10/07/25 This cuddly boy is Harlow James! Harlow James was surrendered to the shelter because his owner was unable to find a pet-friendly lease in town. Harlow James was said to be the bestest boy and would love to find his new people to share his love with. Not only is a great at cuddling on the couch, but he also loves to go on outdoor adventures! Harlow James was said to be kennel-trained, housebroken, and rides well in a car. This boy also knows his basic commands and was said to generally mind well. However, he was said to lack body spatial awareness and to jump on people. His prior owner felt he would do best in a home without children, as he had a tendency to knock them over, and they were stated to make him anxious. Harlow James was said to well with the cats in the home, but can be selective with other dogs. Please ensure you are making slow, safe, and controlled introductions with all new animals to help set him up for success. Harlow James was said to have mild skin allergies and benefits from being on a limited-ingredient diet and occasional allergy baths. He was said to do well for his baths! If you are interested in meeting Harlow James, please let us know! March 13, 2026, 7:14 pm
