Story
Mopple (A142767) is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees x Lab mix who weighed 69.5 pounds on intake! 07/16/26 This curious friend is Mopple! Mopple arrived at the shelter and is now looking for his new place to call home. On arrival at the shelter, he was very scared and did not understand the concept of a leash. However, throughout his stray hold, he has warmed up to the staff and has been figuring out the leash (but still has a bit more to learn). We encourage his next owner to bring him to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer to continue working on his manners and build his confidence. Since he was a stray, we do not know his experience level around children or other animals. It is important that appropriate introductions are being made to help set him up for success. Mopple really wants to be a good boy and is looking for a home that can help him thrive! If you are interested in meeting Mopple, please let us know! July 18, 2026, 9:02 pm

Trym (A109351) is an 11-year-old Ak Husky who weighed a little over 60lb on intake!07/18/26 These sweet old brothers are Trym and Loki! While we are not requiring they be adopted together, they are quite fond of each other. So maybe consider the pair, if you have the time and space! They were surrendered to the shelter due to their owners moving. They were described as being initially shy but quickly become friendly and affectionate after warming up to you. They know some basic commands, such as sit, come, lay down, outside, kennel and enough. They were said to be great children and curious about strangers. They have experience with dogs, cats and even livestock like horses and goats. Please use caution if planning to introduce either of these boys into a home with other animals. They are looking for a home to live out their golden years in. Loki has been known to eat cat toys from time to time resulting in him having two surgeries to remove them so it is very important to monitor them and make sure they arent getting into things they shouldn't. However both boys are comfortable in kennels and do well being kennels when unattended. They do have experience living in fenced in kennel runs outside however have never lived on a chain. If you are interested in giving a retirement home to Trym, Loki, or the pair, please give us a call!July 18, 2026, 9:02 pm

Story
Winston (A142295) is a 1-year-and-6-month-old Chow Chow x AK Husky who weighed just over 65 pounds on intake! 07/18/26 Winston previously known as Cornelius is back at the shelter after a short adoption because the other dog in the home did not appreciate how energetic and playful he was. He was said to be house broken. He was also said to do well with any person he met including kids. He was said to enjoy playing with other dogs and may do well with another dog in the home that matches his high energy style. He was stated to be a very friendly and outgoing dog that loves meeting new people. If you are interested in meeting Winston, please let us know!06/01/26 This rambunctious boy is Cornelius! Cornelius arrived at the shelter as a stray and is now looking for his new place to call home. His finder did note that he was the neighborhood mascot and was frequently found running at large. He is looking for an owner who can keep him contained. Providing him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation is important to keeping him healthy and happy! When overstimulated, Cornelius can become a little mouthy but providing him with a toy can do wonders! We encourage his next owner to bring him to a basic obedience class with a certified trainer. We do not know if he has any obedience training or if he is housebroken. He has done decent at keeping his kennel clean, but has found that Cornelius will shred blankets if left unattended. If you are interested in meeting Cornelius, please let us know! July 18, 2026, 9:02 pm

Story
Shaggy came in to our lives after visiting an adoption event here in Anchorage. We loved his presence for the last year! He is full of energy and wildly intelligent. He loves fetch and being around humans constantly. When we had our new born in May, he was nothing but respectful with her.We would love to spend more time with Shaggy, but we have an unexpected relocation coming up. He would thrive well in any environment with dog lovers.
