Story
Luke is a fun and energetic puppy who gets along with kids and other dogs. He is looking for a new home due to his owner moving and not being able to take him with her. Luke is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. He is still working on potty training, but with a consistent routine he will probably have it down in no time! To schedule a time to meet Luke, please contact Natasha at 706-366-9534. Disclaimer: All pets posted and adopted through Neighborhood Pets are not members of Paws Humane Society. Story
Meet Big Daddy — The Sweetest Late-Blooming Cuddle Buddy Big Daddy is a big-hearted, lovable dog who wants nothing more than to be close to his person. Affection is his love language! He adores being petted, talked to, played with, and showered with the attention he never got enough of early in life. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will treasure every moment with you, Big Daddy is your guy. He’s had a unique journey growing up. Big Daddy was a bit of a late bloomer, as he didn’t start barking until around a year old, and he didn’t begin jumping or fully showing playful behaviors until he was closer to a year and a half. But he has come such a long way. Since being cared for from just three months old, he has pushed through challenges, learned at his own pace, and grown into a gentle, affectionate companion with a big heart. Because he developed a little more slowly than most dogs, Big Daddy thrives with someone who can give him steady, one-on-one attention. He bonds deeply with his people and feels his best when he knows he’s safe, understood, and loved. What Big Daddy wants most in life is simple: someone to cuddle with, someone to sit beside, someone who will love him for exactly who he is. He has fought through a lot and come out the other side still full of love and he’s ready to share that love with his forever family. If you're interested in meeting Big Daddy, please contact Dorthea at (706) 329-6469. Disclaimer: All pets posted and adopted through Neighborhood Pets are not members of Paws Humane Society. Story
Moonpie is an adult stray who is not adjusting well to the shelter environment. The constant noise and confinement have clearly taken a toll on her, and she is showing signs of stress in the kennel. Outside of that environment, however, she shows a completely different side. When a person talks to her, Moonpie does a full 180°. She softens immediately, seeks connection, and becomes very sweet and people-focused. She clearly bonds to humans and responds beautifully to calm, direct attention. Moonpie does best in low-chaos environments where she feels secure. She is also an escape risk and has demonstrated the ability to climb fences, so containment and supervision are extremely important. The challenges: -Not adjusting well to the shelter environment; stress-related behaviors present. -Can climb fences and is considered an escape risk. -During dog introduction, displayed stiffness, soft growling, raised hackles, and intense fixation. -Likely needs to be the only pet in the home. The good stuff: -Extremely sweet and responsive to humans. -Noticeable personality shift when engaged one-on-one. -Seeks connection and attention from people. -Did not escalate during dog testing despite discomfort. -Shows potential to stabilize in a calm, structured home. Who she needs: Moonpie would do best in a secure home with a tall, solid fence and an experienced handler who understands management and structure. A dog-free home is recommended. She would likely thrive in a moderately quiet household that can provide consistency, supervision, and decompression time. She is a stressed dog in an overstimulating environment. With the right placement, she has the potential to be a very devoted companion.

Story
Meeko is the kind of dog who steals your heart quietly. Sweet, calm, and incredibly handsome, he carries a gentle presence that makes you instantly feel at ease. While he can sometimes be a little unsure of the big world around him, give him a moment-and watch his true personality bloom. Once he feels safe and comfortable, Meeko shines. His soft eyes light up, his tail wags with quiet joy, and his sweet nature takes center stage. He is a smart boy that knows how to sit and give paw. He is potty trained and he takes treats gently. He's the devoted-companion type-the kind of boy who will sit by your side, follow you from room to room, and love you with his whole heart. Loyalty isn't just a trait for Meeko; it's who he is. In playgroup, he showed just how wonderful he can be-calm, well-mannered, and respectful with other dogs. He enjoys the company without needing to be the center of attention, making him a lovely potential sibling for the right pup. As always, we recommend a meet-and-greet with your dog to ensure it's the perfect match. But if you're looking for a gentle soul with endless love to give, Meeko may just be your perfect companion.
