Story
***Twinkle will be available for adoption at Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the Feb 10-11 weekend. To apply for her adoption, please submit an application at socorescue.com by clicking on the Adopt tab (no need to register or login). Questions about our adoption process should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com. Please do not call the rescue's number.***   Twinkle and her seven siblings were found abandoned along a dirt road in a very rural area of Wrightsville, GA.  A man found them in a box while he was driving home from work, apparently left there by some uncaring person. The man scooped up the pups and brought them to our rescue. The pups were in poor condition, looked as if they hadn't had a good meal in a few days and, as we learned, had contracted a potentially deadly parasite called Coccidia. The SoCo Rescue staff was dedicated to saving the litter and their efforts paid off wonderfully as all of the pups were saved.    We're not positive but we believe the pups may be a Lab mix, but also thinking they'll be smaller than the average lab, maybe in the 30-40lb range once fully grown. Each of the pups are very outgoing, playful and affectionate. They're wiggly, snuggly and always smiling. While they're energetic as a group, they become lab babies when alone with a person. They'll make great companions for families with children who know how to properly handle a pup.    You'll feel like you've found your lucky star in our Twinkle! She's so sweet, playful and happy, plays very well with other pups and loves snuggle time with people. She'll make a wonderful addition into just any type of home.    She's received 2/3 of her first year "puppy" vaccines with her third being due on Feb 23. She's also been de-wormed and treated against parasites, started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives and received her Bordetella vaccination. She is too young to receive a Rabies vaccine, she must be older than 12 weeks of age. Her adopter must agree to having her spay once she reaches the age of reproducing (typically 6 months or as directed by their veterinarian*) and providing verification of such to SoCo Rescue. Twinkle will require all of her basic training. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 21, 2024, 7:51 pm

Story
Annabelle tends to be a little reserved when first meeting new people. She's not the kind of dog that jumps on everybody she meets.   Give Annabelle a couple of days to get acquainted with you and she'll be your best friend and more than happy to receive belly rubs and being playful with you. We think that Annabelle will do best in a low commotion type of home and one without young children. Annabelle has preferred being without the company of other dogs and we're not sure if that will change once in a new home.  She is laid back, likes a walk and some play time and would be a good fit for someone who wants a calm dog.  She may bark when someone approaches the home making her a great option for someone looking for a family companion that will also ward off strangers. She's been at the rescue for a couple years and now it's here turn to find her forever true home! ————— Annabelle was nursing a litter of pups when she found as a stray within our area. We're not sure if she was abandoned after her litter was born or became pregnant while homeless, only that she was in dire need of being rescued. All of her pups have gone on to find their new homes, but Annabelle had to remain with us while we got her back to good health as she was extremely malnourished and heartworm positive when she arrived. In addition to being treated for her heartworms, Annabelle has also been fully vetted and kept on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. A microchip will accompany her adoption. She has displayed signed of having once been housetrained but may require a refresher course once in a home. To apply for the adoption of this wonderful girl, please submit an application at socorescue.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 21, 2024, 7:51 pm

Story
***Nova is currently at our Tarrytown, GA location.  If you are interested in Nova, please fill out an application and she can be transported to NJ on our next Freedom Ride! Nova and several other dogs were abandoned when the owner vacated the  property, likely running from the law.  Several of the dogs were in terrible condition and one of them passed away.   Local authorities asked SoCo to help out but we did not have room at the time.  Fortunately, the Mount Vernon Animal Control graciously offered to house and care for the dogs until we could take them in.  Nova has been friendly and playful.   Nova earned her  nicknamed "Bowtie" because of the gray-shaped bowtie design on her  head.   It's as if she is thankful for being saved and offered a life worth living.  She is a strong dog and sometimes does not know her own strength.  She would likely do best with an experienced dog owner with love and time to  commit.  She is showing all the signs of being a remarkable lifetime companion. Nova's is up to date on all vaccines.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 21, 2024, 7:51 pm

Story
***Dolly is currently located at our Georgia facility but also available for adoption in the New Jersey and surrounding areas. Questions about Dolly and/or our adoption process should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com. To submit an application for the adoption of Dolly, please visit our web page at socorescue.com (no need to register or login) or click on the following link:https://www.socorescue.com/forms/form?formid=1628 Dolly, her mom and two brothers were all found as strays. The family that found them had other dogs and decided to keep one of Dolly's brothers, but gladly surrendered the others to our rescue. Dolly was about 3 months old at the time, flea infested and a bit underweight. We took the trio of dogs into our care and initially placed them into a foster home, but have since brought him to our rescue. We provided them all with the love and care that each needed and saw a rapid improvement to their health.  Dolly was the larger of the three pups and no doubt the alpha. She is very friendly and playful but does tend to boss her brother, Danny, around. She should be fine around other dogs and she is already very playful and affectionate around people. She seems to be highly intelligent and should pick up rather quickly on any training that her adopter gives to her. She'll make a great family companion, even with children who know how to properly treat a dog.  Dolly has been spayed, received an update on her annual vaccinations; de-wormed and treated against parasites and started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. She will need all of her basic training. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 21, 2024, 7:51 pm

Story
***Jasmine  is currently at our Tarrytown, GA location. Jasmine is a beautiful and spunky girl.  She was found as a stray at the local convenient store.  She appeared to be nursing but no pups could be found.  She was brought to the rescue and at first was anxious and fearful.  Over time, she has become used to her new home and befriended the staff.  She is kenneled next to other dogs without any issues, does not react to other dogs in the rescue we have not had her off leash with other dogs.  A meet and greet would be required for any home with another dog.   She loves to play in the yard and would be great for someone with an active lifestyle. Jasmine is spayed and is up to date on all vaccines.  She has been treated for heart worm and has documentation verifying completion of treatment.  Applications for adoption:  www.socorescue.com    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 21, 2024, 7:51 pm

Story
***Ruthie is currently located at a foster home in GA and scheduled to be available for adoption at our upcoming adoption event at Tractor Supply in Ringoes, NJ over the Feb 10-11 weekend. Applications for Ruthie's  adoption should be submitted at socorescue.com (no need to register or login). Questions about Ruthie and/or our adoption event should be sent to socorescue8@gmail.com. Please, do not call the rescue's number.   When they first noticed the pregnant black Lab, a married couple was very concerned about how thin the mom-to-be appeared. The Lab was also very apprehensive of the couple, even tho they began to leave her bowls of food. They also provided the expecting mom a safe, comfortable place to deliver her litter of nine puppies. The couple then contacted our rescue and offered to foster the pups if we could find them homes. We gladly agreed but first had to administer the required vaccinations and de-wormings to the puppies. From this litter came Ruthie .   Ruthie is one of the largest of this litter and you'll get a laugh from watching her trying to maneuver around in what looks like a suit that's way too big for the person wearing it. While she's just as calm and laidback as her siblings, Ruthie also enjoys spending one-on-one tome with her "special" human.    Ruthie has now received all three of her first year "puppy" vaccinations, including her rabires and Bordetella vaccinations. She's also been de-wormed at proper intervals and has been started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Her adopter must agree to having Ruthie spay once she reaches 6 months old and provide verification to SoCo Rescue. Ruthie will require all of her basic training.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 21, 2024, 7:51 pm
