Story

Scooter was abandoned at around six months. When he came to me, he was skeletal and terrified of most things, but even then his sunny personality shone through. Over the past four months I've been working on getting him healthy and building up some of his confident again. He's made so much progress! But he still has a way to go; unknown visitors still tend to scare him into a cowering mess. I wish I could keep him, but when he gets excited to play (which is almost always!) he running jumps on playmates. I live with my 71yo mother and he has knocked her down multiple times, and also hurt my 10yo GSD mix by jumping on his hips during play. Scooter is so sweet, I just know with patience and attention he will be an amazing companion! Unfortunately I cannot risk my mother's health while he learns house manners. Someone able to keep up with him will have a wonderful lifelong buddy!

Story

***Rudolph is currently located at our rescue in Georgia but also available for adoption in the New Jersey and surrounding areas. A team member will contact you ASAP if your app is approved to adopt Rudolph.*** Rudolph originally came to SoCo as a very young puppy after being found discarded, with his eight siblings, in a box along a lonely stretch of road.  Rudolph is a fun, active and playful boy who also enjoys playing with other dogs. He's loves attention and is affectionate.  He is sometimes nervous when meeting new people but if you ignore him and give him time to warm up, he be your best buddy ever! Rudolph was briefly adopted by a family new to dogs with young children. Unfortunately, he was not a good fit and had to come back to SoCo.  It's possible that the level of energy unsettling to Rudolph.  He also was not neutered.  Since being back at the rescue, he has been neutered and the staff say he is a friendly fellow.  He has been kenneled with other dogs and plays well with others! We are thinking that Rudy would do better in a home without small  children and an experienced dog owner.  He is food motivated and seems to learn quickly.  With the right person, he will be a wonderful companion.  He could be a good second dog but a meet and greet would be important to establish compatibility.   Rudolph has been neutered, is up to date on all of his annual vaccinations, been de-wormed and kept on his monthly preventatives. He did display very good house training ability at his former home but may need a refresher course once adopted. A microchip will accompany his adoption. Story

Annabelle tends to be a little reserved when first meeting new people. She's not the kind of dog that jumps on everybody she meets.   Give Annabelle a couple of days to get acquainted with you and she'll be your best friend and more than happy to receive belly rubs and being playful with you. We think that Annabelle will do best in a low commotion type of home and one without young children. Annabelle has preferred being without the company of other dogs and we're not sure if that will change once in a new home.  She is laid back, likes a walk and some play time and would be a good fit for someone who wants a calm dog.  She may bark when someone approaches the home making her a great option for someone looking for a family companion that will also ward off strangers. She's been at the rescue for a couple years and now it's here turn to find her forever true home! ————— Annabelle was nursing a litter of pups when she found as a stray within our area. We're not sure if she was abandoned after her litter was born or became pregnant while homeless, only that she was in dire need of being rescued. All of her pups have gone on to find their new homes, but Annabelle had to remain with us while we got her back to good health as she was extremely malnourished and heartworm positive when she arrived. In addition to being treated for her heartworms, Annabelle has also been fully vetted and kept on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. A microchip will accompany her adoption. She has displayed signed of having once been housetrained but may require a refresher course once in a home. ***Baron is currently at one of our foster homes in Georgia. He is available for adoption both in the Georgia and New Jersey areas with transportation to the north covered. Please do not call the number listed for SoCo as the staff in Georgia stays very busy and is unable to field calls at this time.*** Like a death row inmate awaiting the call from the Governor, Baron was really praying that his stay of execution would also come in time. He was locked up at the Laurens Co Animal Control and out of "time" in which to have a licensed rescue pull him. A few days earlier, Baron met a nice man who came and took other dogs out of the troubled animal control, even stopped to speak with Baron. And while this man promised to come back for him, Baron was beginning to believe the man had forgotten him. But then Baron heard a familiar voice call out to him and say "See, I told you I was coming back for you!" Standing there before him was the same nice man he'd met a few days earlier and he was carrying a leash. Baron's stay of execution came through just in the nick of time. Baron learned that this man was named Scott and he was with a dog rescue called SoCo Rescue. Baron didn't fully understand what all that meant, but he sure was happy to be out of that animal control an n the SoCo Rescue bus.  Baron's first stop was to see a vet where he was tested for heartworms, which his test results came back negative, and he received a bevy of vaccinations,  de-wormers and other things that didn't taste real good but were very good for him. From there, Mr. Scott took him to a foster home where he's been since. During that time Baron was also neutered and has been kept on his monthly preventatives. He's also proven to be very friendly to people and other dogs, even getting along great with his foster family's older dog. Baron has also displayed some house training experience but may need additional training once in his new home. There's no doubt that Baron will make a great family companion. The family that found them had other dogs and decided to keep one of Dolly's brothers, but gladly surrendered the others to our rescue. Dolly was about 3 months old at the time, flea infested and a bit underweight. We took the trio of dogs into our care and initially placed them into a foster home, but have since brought him to our rescue. We provided them all with the love and care that each needed and saw a rapid improvement to their health.  Dolly was the larger of the three pups and no doubt the alpha. She is very friendly and playful but does tend to boss her brother, Danny, around. She should be fine around other dogs and she is already very playful and affectionate around people. She seems to be highly intelligent and should pick up rather quickly on any training that her adopter gives to her. She'll make a great family companion, even with children who know how to properly treat a dog.  Dolly has been spayed, received an update on her annual vaccinations; de-wormed and treated against parasites and started on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
