Xena is a beautiful black-and-tan Dachshund mix with a heart of gold. She joined our family in 2018 to comfort our other dog, Blue, after a loss, and she has been a gentle, healing presence ever since.Xena is fully house-trained, up-to-date on all her shots, wonderful with kids, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. Why Xena needs a home: Due to a sudden medical crisis—her owner recently underwent major heart surgery—her family can no longer manage her care during a difficult recovery.Xena is inseparable from her dog brother, Blue (also listed for adoption here). Story
Walker has now been in rescue for months without a single application. We don’t fully understand why, because he is a loving, intelligent, playful boy who has worked hard to overcome a difficult start to life. He came to us as a scared shut down puppy who had already experienced more than he should have, and with time, patience, and love, he has grown into the sweet boy we know today. Earlier this year, Walker completed a board and train program through Riverside Canine. His first home wasn’t the right fit, and he was returned to us. Since then, the incredible team at Riverside Canine has stepped in to foster him, and he has been making steady progress in their care. He is smart, affectionate, and would thrive in an active home. He will need a home with no cats, but with slow and careful introductions, he may do well with another dog. Walker’s adoption has been generously sponsored, and his future family will also receive three private lessons through Riverside Canine to help support his transition. He is ready for his forever home and deserves a family who sees just how special he is.

Rocky

American Pit Bull Terrier

Male, 5 yrs
Alanson, MI
Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)
Details
Good with kids, Not good with dogs, Good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Rocky is a sweet, goofy gentle giant estimated to be around 3–5 years old. He loves walks, cuddling with his people, and soaking up all the attention he can get. Rocky knows some basic commands like sit and is continuing to work on his manners, including leash pulling and excitement jumping, but he is eager to please and full of love. Rocky previously lived with a cat and did well. He may do best as the only dog in the home while he settles in, though slow and proper introductions with certain dogs may be successful over time. Because of his size and energy at times, he would likely do best with older children. He is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and currently undergoing heartworm treatment. Through everything, Rocky has remained such a happy, affectionate boy who deserves a loving home willing to give him a chance.

Story
Kane is about 2 years old. I got him when he was around 7 months old. He is very loyal to the people in your home, but unfortunately he hasn’t been socialized through the winters here in Michigan so he has become very protective of the home and doesn’t like new people who enter. He’s very smart, he can sit, lay down, shake, etc. he loves going on car rides and will load up on his own, he understands the commands to leave it. He’s lived around cats most of his life so he’s great with them, but he hasn’t been around other dogs since he was 7 months old. He is not neutered, or otherwise he is still intact. He needs way more attention and training than I’ve been able to be I’ve him and I’ve recently moved. He struggles with being around new people and it takes him a good 30 minutes to warm up to new people, but I believe that can be corrected. He’s very loyal and just needs someone that has alot of energy and will take him on walks. He’s house trained, and loves playing fetch.
