Story

Maxwell will be 4 in September. He is a mixed breed with american staffesire being 60 percent, mastiff and a few other European decent breeds. We did a dna test but cannot retrieve it at this point. We got Max from a rescue in upstate NY when he was 4 months old. He lives with a female american staffesire (13 years old) and a pure bred male American staffesire (9 years old). They all got along until 8 months ago when we were in the process of moving to a different state. Max has always been a nervous dog but think the move made it only worse for him. He and the older male dog had gotten into a minor fight but max is still on edge when he is around. We are currently taking both to a trainer and have even gotten max some medicine to possibly help with his anxiety. He has been put into a situation that was not his fault and unfortunately the home where he is living in is in a busy town and he is use to the country. I just want him to find a home and a person he can call his own.

BREAKING NEWS: Hula is still single, and frankly, we have questions. Because at this point, we’re starting to wonder what more this girl is supposed to bring to the table. Good with dogs? Yep. Loves kids? Absolutely. Housebroken? Check Smart? Almost suspiciously so. Happy? CONSTANTLY. Adorable? Please see attached evidence. And then there’s her party trick. Tell Hula “HOOP!” and this little weirdo will spin herself in a circle. Yes. Her name is Hula. Yes. Her trick is hoop. Yes. We realize this is excellent branding. Hula is the kind of dog who wakes up every morning seemingly thrilled that another day has been invented. She loves her foster dog siblings, thinks kids are fantastic, and has never met a good time she didn’t want to participate in. She’s still young, so she comes with plenty of goofy energy and enthusiasm. She’s learning that crates are perfectly acceptable places to sleep, although she would like it formally noted that beds containing humans are significantly better. URGENT FOSTER NEEDED — OTTO IS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. Some dogs at animal control jump at their kennel doors, barking and begging for attention. Others wag their tails, hoping someone will stop and say hello.And then there's Otto. Otto may be one of the most terrified dogs we've ever encountered at animal control. When you approach his kennel, his entire body is trembling. Not just a little nervous shaking. He is practically vibrating with fear. Getting him to come out of his kennel takes an incredible amount of patience and encouragement. And when he finally works up the courage to leave, he doesn't walk out. He army crawls. Keeping his body as close to the ground as possible because he is just that scared. Once outside, the fear doesn't go away. Even after spending several minutes with him, he never really relaxes. A kennel at animal control is not where a dog like Otto is going to heal. He needs quiet. He needs patience. He needs someone who understands that progress might look like taking a treat, lifting his head, or choosing to come a few inches closer. He needs someone who won't expect him to be a happy, outgoing dog tomorrow. Or next week. Or even next month. He needs someone willing to meet him exactly where he is.
