Story
Karma is a 6 year old energetic and loving dog. I would say she is a country dog as we live with her rurally currently. She could benefit from further training and possibly a bark collar ; I would say that at times she has experienced anxiety . She likes people and other animals and is excited to be around them. She is not a aggressive and requires physical and mental stimulation for successful management of behaviours .

*Ready for Adoption* BUDDY File #24-054 Male DoB: Approx. September 2023, Breed: Northern Mix, Est. Adult Size: Large, Current Foster Location: Athens, ON BUDDY'S REQUIREMENTS: Requires another Dog in the home and a home with a fully fenced yard. Please note that only those being considered will be contacted. We do not typically adopt outside of a 2 hour radius from the foster dog. Some exceptions may apply. I'm Buddy, a big ol' goofball. I'm also a social butterfly, especially when it comes to my furry friends. No aggression here. I'm a lover, not a fighter. I'm a growing boy with a lot of energy, and I'm a great listener. I'm definitely a morning doggie. Full of zip! I don't really nap during the day, but I do like to hit the hay early. Don't I sound paw-some? I think I'd thrive in a home with another doggie companion. And someone who's patient and willing to give me the proper training and love I need to adjust, trust, and be the best buddy you’ll ever have. See what I did there? Best "Buddy" ... I'm hilarious. Let's meet and have some laughs together.

*Available* MARTHA File #24-033 Female DoB: March 2023, Breed: Northern Mix, Size: Medium, Current Foster Location: Kingston, ON Please note that only those being considered will be contacted. We do not typically adopt outside of a 2 hour radius from the foster dog. Some exceptions may apply. Well, hello there! I'm Martha, and until recently, I was in a household full of freeloaders. Yep, they looked like me, and apparently, that meant they thought I was the chef! But slowly, they all packed up and left, leaving me to ponder my next move. Now, I'll be straight with you—I'm not exactly Miss Manners. No one ever sat me down and explained the art of proper etiquette. I grew up unsure if my next meal was coming, so naturally, I've developed a bit of a protective streak when it comes to grub. Hence, I prefer dining in my crate. It's like my safe haven for snacks. And let's talk energy—I've got enough to power a small country! That's why I'm not a fan of cats and I probably shouldn't be around tiny humans. I just haven't quite grasped the concept of "gentle giant" yet. More of a bull in a China shop right now. But hey, let's focus on the positives, shall we? Some might call me hyper, but I prefer the term "athletically inclined." I'm basically a canine parkour master! Plus, you won't find any surprise puddles or smelly brown piles in your house with me around. I've got standards, you know! When you leave, I'm the picture of calm. I'll hang out in my crate like a pro, surrounded by my beloved toy collection. But the moment you walk back in that door, it's game on! Ball? I'm on it like a dog on a bone! Sure, I might not bring it back yet, but give me time—I'm a work in progress! And don't even get me started on mental stimulation. Treat puzzles, snuffle mats—you name it, I'm all over it like fur during shedding season. Think of me as a canine enigma. Not everyone gets me, including yours truly sometimes. But mark my words, one day, I'll be making headlines, and only the true believers will be able to say, "I knew her when." So, what do you think about giving me a shot? Remember, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. Some great guy said that once, I think.

Story
Hey there! I'm Lucky! Lucky that I have a great foster family who has helped me become ready for a forever home! I've heard them describe me as the handsome pup with a serene personality and a face that's sure to melt your heart. I love snuggling up and being close to my favourite humans, and I'm always ready to listen and follow commands like the good boy I am. Meeting new dog friends can be a bit overwhelming for me at first—I might let out some high-pitched screams because I get scared. But once I figure out that they’re not a threat, I jump right into playtime. With cats, I'm as cool as can be, and I absolutely adore kids, always being gentle and loving with them. I've made great strides with my resource guarding of food, especially now that we’ve figured out my diet—no chicken for me, please. I'm a snuggle bug through and through, and I can't wait to bring my calm, loving energy into my forever home

Story
Hi, I'm Alice! I start my day bursting with energy, ready to conquer the world—or at least the living room. My morning routine kicks off with a hearty meal, fueling me up for hours of non-stop play. I live in an apartment now and have no problem using the cozy turf on the patio for all my potty needs. I’m a pro at it. Evenings are my second meal time, followed by more playtime until I’m all tuckered out and ready for bed. I’m super sociable and love hanging out with other dogs. Having a furry buddy around makes my day! But heads up, I can get a bit too enthusiastic and bitey during play. I’ve met the neighbour's cat through the balcony screen, and boy, am I intrigued! Haven’t met kids yet, but I’m sure I’d bring the same playful spirit to any encounter. I also know commands like ‘shush’ when I get too barky. Affection is my middle name—I love cuddling and being around my human. However, I do cry when left alone, so I prefer having company. I’m still learning about boundaries, and my playful bites can be a bit much, but with patience and training, I’ll get there! I’m known as ‘little bullet’ because of my lightning-fast speed and my habit of launching myself at you with pure joy. I need an adopter who understands my need for companionship, lots of playtime, and supervision. Wanna play?

Story
Hi, Teddy here just hanging out at the Sanctuary. I could really use some attention from some humans, so if you would like to come out and maybe go for a walk with me, or foster me, or better yet, adopt me, that would be the greatest! Anyways, I'm here waiting patiently. Teddy had a vacation from the kennel recently! A great family fostered him for a month before they got deployed. The family loved him and said he was a very good dog. He liked to lay on their feet and follow them around. They enjoyed his company and Teddy behaved well on their walks together with use of his training collar. Do you like the treats?? I, too, like the treats!!! You can call me Teddy - or Ted, Teddy Bear, the Tedster… just please don’t call me late for treat time!!! Even better: I’d love it if you’d call me “yours”! We could play and you could teach me fun tricks. Stop by and see me sometime soon if you’d like to get to know me better. We just might become best friends!!! Teddy is a 2 year old labrador mix. He's super sweet, and just wants a place to rest his head every night. Just look at that face! How can you resist! Teddy likes to be the center of your attention so he prefers no other dogs to share you with. Teddy loves walks and likes to go fast, he could be your running partner! He is also a good cuddler and wants a loving family to be his friend! Teddy's guardian angels, Zumba Instructor Mary Prinz and her amazing Zumba family, generously sponsored his adoption fee! All you need to do is meet him at the Sanctuary and take him home!
