Story

Luisa is a happy 'house hippo' who loves the couch and to be near her people. She is playful, very affectionate and loves to chew her toys to bits, but not other items. She is generally a quiet gal, but will bark to alert her family to visitors nearby. She enjoys car rides, is good on leash and doesn't get into much trouble in the house when left alone. She has learned to co-exist with the kitties in her foster home and no longer chases them, and can often be found sleeping with a kitty. New kitties will have to be properly introduced to her, as she will chase them until boundaries are established. She loves to play outside with the other dogs in her foster home, but toys cannot be used at the same time as she gets possessive and will not give them up. She does have some reaction to men wearing hoodies or hats, and she needs to be reminded she is safe and doesn't need to be afraid. Children in the home should be older as she can be a little excited to see them and knock them down. She has had her spay surgery, is up to date on her vaccines, is heartworm negative, has been flea and tick treated, and is microchipped. Her adoption fee is $500. You must be 21 years old to adopt and provide vet and personal references. An application to adopt her can be found on our website www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com. Click on Adopt, then Dogs for Adoption, and scroll to the bottom of the page. All applications are reviewed, and if we feel you might be a good fit for her, you will be contacted to arrange a home visit as well as for permission to speak with your vet. Repeated phone calls and emails with not advance your application. We are a volunteer, foster based rescue and there is no opportunity to meet her before an application has been approved. Ranger is vocal and loves to tell you about his day and then tell you again! He loves to be pet and looks at a gate as a challenge, not a barrier. He can be stubborn and defiant, so a strong Alpha owner is needed or he will take control. He is a powerful puller on leash, so a harness is best. He likes car rides and is crate trained. He is looking for a forever home that has some experience with the food motivated lab and stubborn mastiff. Due to his size and strength, older children are best. He has a great smile, and will show all his teeth when he is happy or nervous. He is up to date with his vaccines, flea and tick treated, microchipped, Heartworm negative and is neutered. TILLSONBURG, ON - Bogart is a small Standard Poodle, about 7-8 years old, who is just beginning to discover what it means to be a dog. Before coming into SPIN’s care, Bogart lived in a commercial breeding facility. His world was a barn and a stall, and his purpose was to produce puppies. He didn't grow up in a home, go for walks, meet people at the door, ride in a car, curl up on a couch or learn all the ordinary things that make up a dog's life. So when Bogart arrived in foster care, he had a lot of catching up to do. He is still timid. A sudden movement or unfamiliar noise can startle him, and new people can be overwhelming, but he has been learning. Underneath that cautious exterior is a very sweet boy who is curious, gentle and trying hard to figure out this big, new world. His foster mom says that sometimes he is braver than others. We think that's an important part of Bogart's story. Progress isn't always a straight line. Some days he takes a big step forward, and other days he needs a little more reassurance. That's okay. Bogart has spent his whole life knowing very little about the world. Now he gets the chance to learn what life can be.

While she may give chase from time to time, she's learning appropriate boundaries and does wonderfully with confident, dog-savvy cats, often choosing to settle down beside them instead. Tanis is a dream to walk. She has beautiful leash manners and rarely pulls, making strolls together enjoyable and relaxing. She's also fantastic in the car and is always excited to join you on an adventure. In the home, Tanis is house-trained and settles beautifully. When left alone, she's content relaxing in a bedroom and has proven to be trustworthy. She's happy to live with another dog but is more interested in peacefully coexisting than playing, so she'd also be perfectly happy as your one and only companion. This sweet girl has such a loving heart. She'll gently give little kisses and happily tuck her head into you for hugs, soaking up all the affection she can get 🫶🏼 Tanis does have a unique appetite and prefers home-cooked meals over traditional dog food, but seeing her happy and healthy is well worth the extra effort.
