Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Health Issues - None Temperament - Bella is a bright girl and learns very quickly. - Bella needs a proper introduction when meeting new people. - She walks nicely, listens well and responds to verbal cues. - She is dog reactive at times, mostly when off leash in a fenced area. She's rarely reactive indoors or on leash. Bella is protective of sticks and toys, so she should not go to dog parks or have social time off leash with other dogs. Owner Suitability - Bella needs someone who is very dog savvy & have experience and knowledge about sensitive and anxious dogs. - She needs calm, consistent and patient handling for her to know and trust you. - Force free training, kindness and a laid-back attitude are what Bella needs to bring out the best in her, with patience, as it may take her a longer time to adapt to new environments and situations. - Bella must have an adult only home with a fenced in, secure back yard. - She will do well with going hiking, having fun car rides and chilling out with you. - Bella’s new home requires that she be the only dog, and for her to succeed, there must be no other animals in the household.

Story
Bernaby is a 1.5 Thai mix and weighs 40 pounds with lots of personality. Up to date on vaccines and neutered He is great with older kids (10+) Not tested with cats but has shown an interest in chasing them on walks. Loves chasing squirrels and taking very long walks. Needs to be the only dog in the home. He walks well in the neighborhood and is still working on socializing with other dogs while on walks. He is an escape artist, and will require double leash with harness and collar, and a fenced in yard off leash. He is very affectionate once comfortable with his people, but tends to bark at first meeting. This is a courtesy listing. If you would like to provide Kai with her forever home, please contact Marie at Paws For Cause at pawswacause@gmail.com or fill out an adoption form on their website by selecting the APPLY button at the bottom right of the For Adoption page at https://www.pawswacause.com/adopt

Story
Indy is a 2 year old male black lab mix (1/4 german shepherd). He is healthy and up to date on all vaccinations and checkups. He is a loyal dog and always looking out for his people. He is loving and excited with lots of energy but does get nervous around new humans and can get suspicious of certain dogs. Indy is anxious and can become reactive, but does not have a bite history. He is unsure with strangers in his space and has an intimidating bark and lunge. With patience and treats he can usually become comfortable with new people and is extremely loving of his family and friends. He struggles with a small number of individuals who trigger him for reasons unknown to us. He requires a dog savvy home and would succeed with proper and consistent training. He is smart and learns well. He has some formal training but our busy lifestyle does not give him the consistency he needs. He has mixed reactions to new dogs. He is eager to play with his friends but will sometimes bark at strange new dogs. He will be reactive towards some specific dogs and that requires a firm grip and quick removal from the situation. For that reason, he is muzzle trained and does not visit the smaller fenced-in dog parks. He has had success at the larger off-leash parks where he explores alongside his owners. While he has lived in a house with 2 kids (9 & 11 year old boy and girl) and is excellent with them and their closest friends, he can struggle with new friends going in and out of the house and that is one of the big reasons he is looking for a new home. Houses with lots of traffic may not be a great fit. He is muzzle trained and is strong. With us, he wears a prong collar to walk in case we meet a dog he does not like. Otherwise, he walks quite well. He has had success with a harness as well but will pull on a flat collar. He really loves to run. He can go for runs with his humans of up to about 5km. Indy loves the snow and playing in it. He also loves to retrieve a ball and can’t wait to get up to a full sprint. His recall skills are pretty good but usually has his lead still attached even when roaming free to make him easy to grab. He can get distracted by other dogs, squirrels or humans. Indy sleeps in a large crate every night on the main floor. He’s sometimes unsure of more than a few stairs, so we have trained him to stay there. The main floor is his zone. He is also comfortable being sectioned off in the kitchen with his doggie bed when his humans are out for a few hours. He is fine with being left alone for 5+ hours. He will not try to push down a gate or barrier to leave his sectioned off area. He lazes around for much of the day when we do work from home. His favourite evening after dinner thing is a Kong with frozen wet food in it. It is calming and can take over an hour to enjoy. Indy knows to go onto his bed before he gets rewarded with his Kong. He is food motivated, loves various kinds of treats and will work for it! He is likely best in a single-dog home with dog savvy owners. He has little experience with cats or other small animals in the home. He is currently on medication to help with the anxiety (about $20-$25 per month from a regular pharmacy). This is a courtesy listing. Please call or text 613-406-5222 to discuss Indy.

Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Temperament - Rusty is an athletic and intelligent boy. - He enjoys opportunities to hang out with his people, go for long leashed walks. - Rusty came to us straight from 16 months tied outside, because of this, he is still learning manners. He needs reinforcement of his good behaviours. - Due to his limited time indoors, he could be curious initially in his new home. - He loves to snuggle on the couch and have your attention. - Bonds strongly with his people and rewards their efforts with love, loyalty and trust. - Rusty walks nicely on leash, takes good verbal cues, and greets people politely, but can get over excited. But in time and with consistency, this will be easy to manage. - Rusty may exhibit some reactivity to other dogs while behind a fence, but rarely reacts on leash, especially if he’s content, and busy. - Rusty has trouble socializing with other dogs, so interacting with other dogs is difficult, partially because of his herding instincts and his lack of socialization at a young age. Owner Suitability - Rusty’s energy level is moderate to high and would benefit from a family that can consistently commit to an exercise and ongoing training regiment. Rusty needs boundaries set immediately in his new home, and ample outlets for his energy and smarts. He would benefit greatly from classes in any canine sport which will also strengthen the bond with his person. - Rusty does exhibit prey drive; squirrels and birds and smaller animals would likely attract his attention. He needs to live in a home without cats, other small animals or young children. - He would be a good fit for a home with one or more adults. He could possibly do well in a home with dog-savvy kids around 12 years or older. - Rusty’s new family would need to recognize the things that stimulate him, resulting in his drive escalating, and understand when it’s time to remove him from the situation. Consistent reinforcement of his good behaviour will be important. - Rusty spent more than 1 yr of his life tied up. This CANNOT happen in his new home, as he could regress and become unmanageable in the house. - A fenced yard is a must. Given his natural curiosity and drive, he’ll need a secure space to be off-leash at home to continue to thrive. - Rusty is not a dog-park dog and is not well-suited to large social gatherings off leash. He is a very sweet and bright boy that would excel in a quiet, routine environment where he can be leash walked daily, with an opportunity to run without other dogs, and to explore, learn and play interactive games.

Story
Meet Syla Golden Retriever 4 years old Female Microchipped and vaccinated Not spayed Follows basic commands Crate trained as a puppy but now free roams We brought miss Syla home in September 2019 as a gift to our first daughter who was 3 at the time. Their bond became so strong immediately. Syla has always shown her affection through cuddles, smiling and playing. Syla loves her toys, fetching a ball, having her treats and going for family walks Unfortunately, Syla was not socialized with many other dogs through the pandemic. She is familiar with a small, older, family dog. Due to this, Syla is not great at sharing her toys and food with other dogs. Syla shows territorial behaviour by growling and nipping if a dog comes near her toys and food. Syla will allow adults and older children to go near her when she’s eating and playing. Most recently she has shown anxieties towards our youngest daughter who is 7 months. Syla bit our baby who crawled towards her when she was playing with her toy. We have also noticed Syla start to shake when she is around the baby and we believe it’s because she has never experienced a child smaller then 3 years old in her life time. Besides the above behaviours, Syla has been an amazing family dog. She is so happy, loving and just wants attention all day and night. If you need a hug, she will be the first person to give it to you. She loves her walks so much that she does get excited and pull at the beginning but does eventually calm down. Syla has not been off leash trained but on the odd time she’s not on a leash, she does not go far from us. She also loves to swim and catching bubbles with her family. Syla needs an owner who has time to take her for walks, plays with her and loves her unconditionally. She would thrive at a forever home with some land. Her new owner must have patience with her and work with her through her territorial behaviours with her food and toys. Syla has never been around cats, so we are unsure how she’d react to them. Syla would probably do best in a home with no kids or atleast older children. Syla deserves the best family who will treat her like their own child. This is a courtesy listing. If you would like to provide Syla with her forever home, please contact Brianna Drys at briannadrys@gmail.com.
