Story
She was taken from a person that wanted to put her down. My mother’s boyfriend took her before that happened because he didn’t want to see her be put down. She has been an outside dog at his house for a few years now with two other dogs. She is good inside. Very skittish due to not being around a lot of animal like a normal family dog. She is great in cars and has a great personality. She just needs the right family/home. She is an amazing dog. She is 4 years old still a baby in my opinion. I know she has her baby shots and I just took her to get groomed. I will consider taking her to the vet to double check everything else. I would love to keep her, but I just got a puppy and I can’t take care of three at once. I hope she finds the right family.

Story
** Please read to the end to learn how to adopt! Gus is an adorable and affectionate Boxer mix who is eager to find his forever home.  He has turned out to be THE best boy and is loved by everyone that meets him!   He is an intelligent dog who is good with other dogs and is loyal to those around him. This handsome boy has been fully vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and tested Negative for heartworms!!   He was about 62 pounds when rescued from the streets, and he is still thin.  We believe he is approximately 2 years old, maybe less.  He sometimes still urinates like a puppy and he's so curious about Everything... sneaks up on anything unfamiliar.  It's so cute to watch! Gus is house-trained and he knows 'sit.'  He takes treats very gently from your hand and will give you big kisses in return.  He's playful, but will chill with you on the couch, too ! He is good with other dogs and children.  He's an all-around great dog and has many years ahead to fill your life with love and fun!   If you're looking for a sweet and friendly dog, Gus is the one for you!    Please apply to Foster OR Adopt Gus by completing the online application you will find near his photos on our website,  www.BaytownHumaneSociety.org

Story
Winnie, a sweet and beautifully scruffy 5 year old terrier, adores the outdoors and delights in chasing balls and frisbees. Adopted as a puppy, her return a year later was a result of her owners' move to a no-pets-allowed residence. Now, after a couple of years, she dreams of the comforting embrace of a home once again. Winnie seeks a home without other pets or small kids – just someone willing to be her best friend! She needs a person willing to take their time with her and perhaps even have private training classes. Despite being a long-term resident, her perfect match is yet to be discovered. Do you have a cozy couch for snuggles and a spacious backyard for her to call home? Let's unite to find Winnie the home of her dreams!

Story
Changed a little more. Think that’s enough but not totally scaring someone off Meet Maggie This stunning 2-year-old, 22-pound Collie mix rolled into our shelter as a stray. No one came looking… but that just means her real forever person is still out there — and oh my goodness, she deserves them. Maggie is fully potty trained, incredibly smart, and observant — always watching, always taking things in. But here’s what you need to know: Maggie is very timid with new people and unknown situations. We don’t know her past, but we do know she’s selective with who she trusts — and that’s okay. She’s also incredibly strong-willed. She knows what (and who!) she feels safe with, and she isn’t afraid to set her boundaries. Because of that, she’ll need a home that truly understands her needs. She’ll thrive best in a home with: •No children •Experienced, patient owners •Someone willing to visit her a couple of times at the shelter to build that initial bond •A person ready to guide her gently, help her grow, and teach her how to respond confidently to the world around her Maggie is truly special — and absolutely worth every ounce of time you pour into her.

Story
Through no fault of her own, Louise is back and looking for love again. Meet Louise — a 5-year-old terrier mix with a sleek, glossy black coat, soulful eyes, and the kind of gentle heart that makes you feel instantly at ease. At just 30 pounds, she’s the perfect in-between size: big enough for adventures, small enough for couch cuddles. Louise adores people, gets along well with other dogs, and has a calm, loving presence that makes a house feel like home. Like so many black dogs in shelters, Louise risks being overlooked — but she is truly one of those dogs who quietly steals your heart the moment you meet her.
