FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Juno! Juno is a 5-year-old, 60 lb Shepherd mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. With his stunning brindle coat and soulful eyes, Juno may look a little intimidating at first glance ~ but he’s truly a sweet, loving, and loyal boy once you get to know him! Juno bonds deeply with his people and loves being out and about with his handler. He would make an excellent adventure companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. He’s affectionate, eager to be close to his person, and may even jump up for an enthusiastic “hug” when he’s excited to see you. Once Juno chooses his person, he’s all in. He’s a smart, eager-to-please dog who thrives with structure and consistency. Juno already knows sit, down, and his adorable “happy spin” at mealtime, and he would do great in a home that wants to continue working on training while providing both mental and physical outlets. Juno walks well on leash and enjoys getting out for walks and exploring. He would do best in a standalone home with a fully fenced yard (no apartments or condos) where he has space to decompress and move freely. When it comes to other dogs, Juno can do well with canine companions, especially with slow, thoughtful introductions. He has made dog friends and enjoys playing, particularly with larger female dogs, which tend to be his favorite match. He could also be happy as an only dog. She was found in the middle of nowhere, in the bones, and with too much fear, she tried to bite us until she could understand that we were not going to hurt her, we just wanted to help her, and she got on her belly, letting me know that she trusted me. She is a really sweet, intelligent, loving dog, she has too much love to give, and she needs to receive even more. She is a very loyal dog, and tends to dance with her front paws when she gets excited. She gets excited when she goes for a walk, she likes to see new places and sometimes she is a little shy at first with strangers but she understands quickly when people don't want to hurt her. On the contrary when she knows that people are a threat to her or to you, she is very protective. She gets along well with very few male dogs, she is dominant and does not usually play with other dogs, but she gets along very well with adults and children, she would be ideal for a family with small children, she knows how to measure her strength, and she is not at all rude with babies. Video meet and greet available prior to commitment* This dog is a collaborative effort between Moka's Mission and Houston Chow Chow Connection. Mocha is a fluffy mixed pup just eager to find her new lease in life. She was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas just moments before being euthanized. She is believed to be around 4 years old, and based on behaviors definitely has GSD, Chow Chow, and even possibly husky mixed in her as well. Current weight around 65, 70 lbs. Mocha is a smiling, eager to please, extremely intelligent pup who clearly has been desperate for reaching a potential that was never offered to her prior. She loves to play with toys now, ( was unfamiliar with on arrival) and can be quirky, and vocal during her playful bouts. A game of tug which result in some head pats is her favorite. She also is very smart, and when given attention and motivation is quick to learn. She already knows several basic commands including sit, shake, kennel, wait, settle, and leave it. She is extremely versatile and once she trusts you, will give you her best. If you want to go hiking or exercise, she is all about it. If you want a pup to relax in the home and enjoy a movie day, she is ready! She loves to curl up on the couch or at your feet when it's time to settle down, but when it's time to go she is the first one to be there and ready for you. She also loves to keep you company while you do the most menial house chore's such as laundry or dishes. Mocha clearly was kept away from other dogs and animals when she was owned previously, so we do think she'd be best as an only pup. Proper continued socialization training would be required in order for her to eventually be able to share space with other dogs, but she would need to be socialized as an only dog first before considering adding another in. She clearly has a desire to want to know other dogs and can walk by them and flirt while on leash just fine during walks. However, she hasn't had enough time and proper playmates to engage in playtime at present without being rough. Unfortunately, she is not ok with cats, which is to be expected of the breeds she possesses. Mocha is fully vetted meaning she is up to date on vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and on monthly prevention for flea, tick, and heartworm.
