Story
03/19-2024 11:18 The person who found and called Animal Control stated that he growls when you are near his food. He growled at me when trying to weigh him, put him in his kennel or and when I tried to touch the back half of his body. His body is constantly tensing up. He does seem to be older so the growls may be due to pain. Vet check is in, waiting on vet`s notes.03/21/24 09:45 good boy easy to handle, but he is not kenneling well, stressed hyper salivating and non stop barking. moved to isolation04/12/24 10:22 He`s been moved several times throughout the shelter to help reduce stress. He continues to bark and trying to get out of the kennel. He gets exercise in the Play yard to help but he needs training and is getting difficult to handle. He is overestimated and his behavior continues to deteriorate.Medical notes for pain in back end:03/19/24 11:59cautious but friendly. Story
04/09/24 16:25 Took out to the yard for pictures and a temp test. He was easy to leash and walk to the yard. Once there, I let him walk around for a bit and then he came over for some pets and scratches. We brought out a second Shep and the two met each other, did some sniffing and then broke away. They kept coming back towards each other to sniff again but neigher showed any aggression.04/12/24 10:34 kenneling well, very clean and quiet in kennel, moved up to Arow for good behavior04/17/24 10:00 Took out for pet of the week photos. Very good boy. Easy to leash, unleash, and return to kennel. Will pull some while walking but for his size it isn`t too bad. Knows how to sit and shake, will do both on command. Showed some interest in toys and treats in the yard but only wanted to sniff, did not take them, may be more interested in a less distracting environment. When first out wanted to jump on me and the photographer, but once the initial excitement was past he was very well-mannered and did not try to jump, will likely only need small reminders for basic manners. Easy to handle, allowed touch all over his body. Very big boy, gentle giant.

Story
Henny's adoption fee is $375 Henny comes to us because her owner has fallen on some hard times and has some medical issues to work on. She has spent her entire 5 years with this family, including a little boy. They grew up together, and she loves kids. Henny is a very loving dog but can be uncomfortable around other dogs now. She is in socialization school, so we have high hopes that she won't have to be an only dog forever. But one on one, you can't beat this girl. The adoption fee is a tax-deductible donation to our 501c3 rescue and includes vaccines, worming microchips, and spaying/neutering. Meet and greets will only be scheduled after a completed and signed application is submitted. We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis...We do our homework and ensure the home is the best possible situation for the pet based on breed specifics and the lifestyle of the potential home. Breed descriptions are the best guess since we do not know both parents... One Mutt at a Time does our best to establish possible breed mixes using our experience in consultation with our vet. We make no guarantees to breed combinations unless we know both parents. This is a mixed breed dog of unknown origin unless otherwise stated.
