Gentle Soul is the very best way to describe my personality. Hi&#44 Im Simba&#44 a senior shepherd mix with the softest heart youll ever encounter Ive been through a bit lately. My owner died&#44 and I was brought to the shelter by family who couldnt give me the life they thought I deserved. When I arrived&#44 I had a pretty painful skin infection that caused a lot of my fur to fall out. But good news... Im healing beautifully and making huge strides every day! My glow-up is well underway. <br/><br/>Im the sweetest boy whos ready to enjoy the calmer side of life. I do the sweetest commands - sit and shake! At this stage&#44 Im not really into wild play sessions - Id much rather spend my time relaxing&#44 soaking up love&#44 and enjoying peaceful companionship. Id prefer to be the only dog so I can have all your attention&#44 but I could potentially live with a very mellow&#44 respectful dog who understands that Im not interested in roughhousing. <br/><br/>What am I interested in? Kind voices&#44 soft beds&#44 slow walks&#44 and someone who will love me for the sweet&#44 loving boy that I am. Harley is a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Red Heeler mix who has the whole package: calm, loyal, smart, and deeply devoted to her people. She is house-trained, crate-trained, knows her commands, and settles beautifully in the home. She enjoys her daily walks, her toys, and above all, being close to her humans. A true Velcro dog, she loves nothing more than quietly sticking by your side. Harley can be a bit reserved with men and loves to protect her human. When she is feeling unsure or scared, she may bark or growl out of fear, but with slow, positive introductions, she warms up wonderfully. In her foster home, she absolutely adores her foster dad and teenage foster brother, showing just how loving and loyal she becomes once she feels safe. She gets along with other dogs and is in foster with dogs of various sizes and personalities. She may show herding instincts, so a home with older children and no cats would be best for her. SHERLOCK'S ADOPTION FEE:   $150 This fee covers only part of what we spend to vet, board and rehab the dogs we save. On average we spend over $450 on each dog. We made a decision to keep our adoption fee at the 2005 level even though vet prices have doubled and tripled since then. We are constantly fundraising to cover the deficit. At minimum, your adoption fee includes the dog's spay/neuter, heartworm test, heartworm treatment if needed, rabies shot, distemper/parvo shot, bordatella shot, deworming, monthly heartworm and flea preventives, and microchip. She has been waiting over 3 years for her forever family, and it’s time this beautiful girl finally gets the home she deserves. Katie’s life didn’t start out easy. She was rescued from a hoarding situation where 12 starving dogs were left to fight over a single bag of food tossed in once a day. As the youngest, smallest, and most submissive, Katie was attacked when she tried to eat. She became skin-and-bones, carrying scars on her side and ear, and survived by eating rocks and scraps. She likely had a litter of puppies before she was even a year old. But despite everything, Katie’s spirit shines. She is gentle, forgiving, and absolutely LOVES people—especially kids. Her favorite game is fetch, and she’s so clever she’ll roll the ball back to you when she wants another throw. Watching her play and interact is pure joy—she makes everyone around her smile. Katie has been professionally trained and is a dream companion: she walks politely on leash, rides calmly in the car, behaves wonderfully at the vet, loves her kennel, and hardly ever barks.
