Story
Bishop is an older dog who needs a place to stay. He’s housetrained and can go for 12-18 hours without needing to go to the bathroom. He’s about 70 lbs, pure bred, not neutered. He’s a very kind dog, can’t jump up anymore and needs a back yard. We are moving to a place where we can’t keep him with us. Good with kids, doesn’t mind other dogs, won’t eat off the table or get on the bed.

Story
Trends come and go, especially in the age of “viral” social media. But some things never go out of style! One of those things is, without a doubt, Chex Mix! Chex mix has been the trusted go-to treat for ages. Why? Because there is something for everyone! It’s salty, sweet, and everything neat! There are so many Chex mix varieties to choose from, but our favorite is our very own Chex mix! Chex is a 1.5 year old German Shepherd mix weighing 65-70 pounds. Chex knows that the success of Chex Mix lies in the mixture of perfectly paired ingredients—and he believes that he’d be better paired with you! 😉 Chex is looking for his forever family, and the recipe for success in your home has pretty much been laid out for you! Let’s go over all of the boxes that our sweet boy CHEX off! -Is he potty trained? CHEX! ✅ He knows to ring the bells when nature calls! -Is he crate trained? CHEX! ✅ He rests quietly in his crate at night, but he also won’t decline a nice couch or floor. -Does he know basic commands? CHEX! ✅ He knows “sit,” “lay down,” “stay,” “wait,” “manners” (when being served food), “get your toy,” and “beg” (he will lay his head on your leg)! He is learning “say please,” “come and sit,” and "under" to go under your legs. He is very smart and learns new commands easily. -Does he like to play? CHEX! ✅ He LOVES squeaky toys and tug toys! -Can he live in a home with cats? CHEX! ✅ He likes cats and keeps his distance from the feisty ones. Here are some important considerations for building your mix with Chex: -Chex likes to choose his doggy friends wisely, so he may do best as an only dog. -Chex loves kids, but would be best with teens and older due to his energy level. -Chex is a strong boy and could use some practice with his leash manners. -Chex will need some time with his adopters to build trust, especially men. Overall, the perfect mix for Chex would be a woman-only home with no small children. He would love a fenced-in backyard to run and play. Chex is smart and loyal and will be a really great pup for the right person! Chex will come to you vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered. He is also current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention! His adoption fee is $175. If Chex is CHEXING all of your boxes, go to www.pawsitiveTailsKC.org to fill out an app! Meet and greets will be scheduled with approved adopters. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤

Story
Valorie is still just a young girl, but she’s been through so much. There’s a reason we spell her name the way we do: She has displayed a lot of valor. We are bound and determined to turn Valorie’s life around so she can experience the love of people and know that she is safe and cared for, furever. Valorie came to us with not one but two broken legs. She is now healed from her second surgery, and the vets think she’ll be able to run, play and jump like a regular dog with no lasting physical effects. However, because the injuries happened at the hands of humans, she still bears some emotional scars. Here are some things that bring her joy: 🐕🐩🐕 Other dogs! She loves them so purely and trusts them completely 💦💧💦 Water. She plays in the creek at her foster’s house and has a blast, and she doesn’t mind the rain or storms at all. 🌤🌷🌳 Being outside. She wants to go, go, go, whether she’s in the yard or on a leash walk. 🚗 Car rides 🌭🍔🍦Food and treats – the way to Valorie’s heart is through yummy eats 🤸‍♀️ 🐾 😴 Her energy level will match your energy – from adventure time to lazy time She knows sit, down, come, kisses & kennel and is learning more basic commands. Walks are exciting, & she pulls a little at first, then settles into a nice pace with you. She is house-trained and bell-trained, & she sleeps in her crate at night. Valorie is very gentle with kids who are respectful to dogs and who know that she will need space at first. Then, she will love and protect them hard. So kids are fine but cats are a 'no' for this girl. She is bashful because of her past and may startle at sudden noises and movements, especially at first. She will need some time – likely days or even weeks – to acclimate to her new home, before many new people or visitors start showing up. Valorie will continually remind you what life is all about and keep you focused on all the joys there are to behold. Want to be her forever hero? Apply to adopt her today. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped, plus current on preventatives for heartworm and flea/tick. Her adoption fee is $175. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤

Story
Harley is a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Red Heeler mix who has the whole package: calm, loyal, smart, and deeply devoted to her people. She is house-trained, crate-trained, knows her commands, and settles beautifully in the home. She enjoys her daily walks, her toys, and above all, being close to her humans. A true Velcro dog, she loves nothing more than quietly sticking by your side. Harley can be a bit reserved with men and loves to protect her human. When she is feeling unsure or scared, she may bark or growl out of fear, but with slow, positive introductions, she warms up wonderfully. In her foster home, she absolutely adores her foster dad and teenage foster brother, showing just how loving and loyal she becomes once she feels safe. She gets along with other dogs and is in foster with dogs of various sizes and personalities. She may show herding instincts, so a home with older children and no cats would be best for her. Harley is available through our Foster-to-Adopt program, giving you the chance to get to know her and see just how special she is. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will stick by your side through everything, Harley just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Meet Marley — A Loyal 8-Year-Old German Shepherd Who Just Wants Stability Again Cat friendly, Only Dog home, Medium Energy, Apartment not Recommended Marley is an 8-year-old purebred German Shepherd who has known love her entire life. Her owner had her from puppyhood and surrendered her only because he was facing eviction after noise complaints in their apartment — he truly had no other choice. Marley is a sensitive, intelligent dog who thrives with structure, routine, and a calm environment. After eight years in one home, the shelter has been overwhelming for her, and she will do best in a house with space where she can decompress, settle, and feel secure again. 💛 General Personality & Home Life Marley is affectionate, loyal, and very bonded to her people. She’s the kind of dog who enjoys being near you but is also perfectly content relaxing on her own nearby. Her foster describes her as the perfect balance of playful and chill. She has a medium energy level — always happy to go for a walk, play fetch, or explore outside, but just as happy to settle in for a nap afterward. Marley is fully house trained and has had no accidents in her foster home. She knows several commands including sit, down, stay, kennel, and place, and she’s a very attentive listener who is eager to please. She’s also extremely food motivated, which makes continued training easy and fun. Her previous owner clearly put a lot of time into her training — she’s a smart girl who likely knows even more than we’ve discovered so far. Marley also loves car rides and is an excellent passenger, calmly sitting or laying down in the back seat. Some of her favorite things include: • Playing fetch with her ball • Walks and exploring outdoors • Swimming (a past favorite from her previous home) • Being brushed and pampered 🐶 Behavior With Other Dogs Marley does have specific needs around other dogs, and we believe she would do best as the only dog living in the home. Leash Behavior • Historically leash reactive — she may bark, growl, or lunge if dogs get too close. Marley is not aggressive, but fearful and expresses her big emotions this way. • Will benefit from patient, structured leash work with positive reinforcement and space on walks. Dog-to-Dog Interactions • Previously went to dog parks but began resource guarding toys. • Foster has also observed resource guarding behaviors around another dog in the home, so we are recommending Marley live as the only dog where she can relax and not feel the need to protect her things. 🐱 Cats Marley previously lived with a cat successfully and briefly ignored cats in her foster home. As with any introduction, slow and thoughtful introductions are recommended. 🐕‍🦺 Kennel & Alone Time Being away from her humans can be hard for Marley. She knows the “kennel” command and will sometimes go into her crate on her own to rest. She may bark or howl if she hears activity she feels she’s missing out on, especially overnight. Her foster found she did very well free-roaming in a dog-proof room, where she slept most of the night peacefully. Providing exercise, structure, and calming routines (like white noise or music) has helped her settle. 🚶‍♀️ Daily Life Marley is a lovely walking companion. She walks well on a harness and checks in often with her person. She may pull briefly if she spots a squirrel or catches a strong scent, but she’s easy to redirect. She enjoys meeting new people and has happily approached visitors and people on walks with a wagging tail. Marley can also be a little sensitive or skittish at times — loud cars, leaves, or unexpected objects might briefly startle her — but she recovers quickly with reassurance. 🌟 What Marley Needs in an Adopter Marley will thrive with: • A house with a yard (no apartments) • An experienced German Shepherd or working-breed home • A dog-free household • Continued training for leash reactivity • Daily exercise and mental engagement • A stable, predictable environment • Someone who appreciates the loyalty and sensitivity of shepherds 💛 Marley Is Ready for a Soft Landing Marley is incredibly sweet, eager to please, and deeply devoted to her people. She can be a little nervous at times, but she also has a goofy, playful side that makes her a joy to be around. After eight years of routine, love, and stability, she’s simply looking for someone willing to give her that sense of home again. Whoever adopts Marley won’t just be getting a dog — they’ll be gaining a loyal, intelligent companion who will give them her whole heart. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
My name is Mimi, and I am a five-year-old German Shepherd mix hoping to find a quiet, loving home where I can finally relax and enjoy my golden years. I did not have the easiest start to life. I spent my early days living in a backyard with many other dogs, and it was often overwhelming for me. Because of that, I can be a little shy when I first meet new people. I like to take my time, observe, and make sure I am safe.

What I have always dreamed of is being an inside dog - a companion who gets to share a peaceful home, soft places to rest, and gentle moments with someone who cares. Once I begin to trust you, my whole heart opens up. I become a devoted little shadow, following you from room to room and finding comfort simply in being near you. Earning my trust may take a bit of patience, but the bond that forms afterward is something truly special.

I am searching for a calm, steady environment where I can feel secure and loved. A quieter home would help me continue to build confidence and discover what it means to be part of a family. I am ready for a second chance - one filled with kindness, stability, and the warmth I missed out on before.

If you are looking for a gentle, loyal companion who will cherish the person who gives her a fresh start, I would be honored to meet you. Come visit this sweetheart today and help me begin the life I have always deserved.

Story
King is almost 11 year old (May 20), senior German Shepherd who is still full of life and enjoys being playful and active. He is a loyal, affectionate dog who loves attention and being around his people. King grew up around children, but he would do best in a calm home with mostly adult interaction where he can relax and receive plenty of love. He has done well with other dogs, especially smaller dogs. One of his sweetest quirks is that he loves stuffed animals and treats them like his “babies,” carrying them around. King enjoys walks and would thrive in a home with a backyard where he can play. King just had a vet visit, shots are up to date including rabies, negative heartworm test.King will come with his belongings including his stuffed animals, bed, food bowls, remaining dog food, etc.

Story
What comes to mind when you think about the Belgian Malinois? Words like intelligent, athletic, or agile? They have all those traits and more. Ozark is no different, but did you also know they are loving, devoted, eager to please, and can make great family pets? Ozark is a 3-year-old Belgian Malinois who weighs 58 pounds. This stunning lady has all the Malinois “things”. She is extremely intelligent, probably smarter than most of us. She knows numerous commands and is always anxious to learn more! Truly, the sky is the limit on what she can be taught. Ozark is housetrained, crate-trained, does wonderfully on leash, and sleeps quietly in her crate at night. She loves her doggo friends and is always up for some active playtime with them or her humans. Ozark would make a perfect active companion. Hiking is one of her favorite pastimes. Are you looking for a running partner? She can keep up with the best of them! She would love a fenced yard to explore and do her zoomies. Leash walks would also be a great option. That’s a win-win, you get a bit of fresh air and exercise, and she gets to burn off some energy and enjoy the sights and sounds. This lovely lady will be a bit skittish at first, so she will need a family willing to give her the time she needs to feel safe. As a result, small children may not be a good fit for her. Once you are her people, she will be by your side through all the ups and downs of life. Ozark would do best in a home that allows her plenty of sensory and exercise opportunities. Did you know this breed is wonderful at several athletic canine sports, such as dock diving, agility, and even tracking? Ozark, true to her breed, has a high prey drive, so kitties are probably not a good fit for her. Ozark is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $175. For a chance to meet her, visit PawsitiveTailsKC.org to complete an application. Meet-and-greets will be scheduled with approved adopters. If you know you can give Ozark exactly what she needs, patience and activity, don’t wait, go fill out that application. Trust us, she will give you a kind of love you have never experienced before. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤
