Story
Trends come and go, especially in the age of “viral” social media. But some things never go out of style! One of those things is, without a doubt, Chex Mix! Chex Mix has been the trusted go-to treat for ages. Why? Because there is something for everyone! It’s salty, sweet, and everything neat! There are so many Chex Mix varieties to choose from, but our favorite is our very own Chex mix! Chex is a 1.5-year-old German Shepherd mix weighing 65-70 pounds. Chex knows that the success of Chex Mix lies in the mixture of perfectly paired ingredients—and he believes that he’d be better paired with you! Chex is looking for his forever family, and the recipe for success in your home has pretty much been laid out for you! Let’s go over all of the boxes that our sweet boy ‘CHEX’ off! -Is he housetrained? CHEX! He knows to ring the bells when nature calls! -Is he crate trained? CHEX! He rests quietly in his crate at night, but he also won’t decline a nice couch or floor. -Does he know basic commands? CHEX! He knows “sit,” “lay down,” “stay,” “wait,” “manners” (when being served food), “get your toy,” and “beg” (he will lay his head on your leg)! He is learning “say please,” “come and sit,” and "under" to go under your legs. He is very smart and learns new commands easily. -Does he like to play? CHEX! He LOVES squeaky toys and tug toys. His favorite toy is a squeaky ball with a protective dome to prevent him from tearing it apart. -Can he live in a home with cats? CHEX! He likes cats. If a cat hits at him or hisses, he becomes scared of it and is too nervous to even walk past it again. If a cat is chill with a dog, then he does great. Here are some important considerations for building your mix with Chex: -Chex likes to choose his doggy friends wisely. He would do best as an only dog, but could be okay with the right kind of pal. -Chex loves kids and would be best with teens and older due to his energy level and the fact that he still needs a firm "no" at times. He can also get a little mouthy when he’s overexcited. -Chex is a strong boy and could use some practice with his leash manners. -Chex is quite the ladies’ man, but he takes a while to warm up to men. He will need some time with his adopters to build trust. Overall, the perfect mix for Chex would be a woman-only home with no small children. He would love a fenced-in backyard to run and play. Chex is smart and loyal and will be a really great pup for the right person! Chex will come to you vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is also current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention! His adoption fee is $175. If Chex is CHEXING all of your boxes, go to fill out an app at PawsitiveTailsKC.org. Meet and greets will be scheduled with approved adopters. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤

Story
Valorie is barely a year old, but she’s been through so much. There’s a reason we spell her name the way we do: She has displayed a lot of valor. We are bound and determined to turn Valorie’s life around so she can experience the love of people and know that she is safe and cared for, furever. Valorie came to us with not one but two broken legs. She is now healed from her second surgery, and the vets think she’ll be able to run, play and jump like a regular dog with no lasting physical effects. However, because the injuries happened at the hands of humans, she still bears some emotional scars. Here are some things that bring her joy: 🐕🐩🐕 Other dogs! She loves them so purely and trusts them completely 💦💧💦 Water. She plays in the creek at her foster’s house and has a blast, and she doesn’t mind the rain or storms at all. 🌤🌷🌳 Being outside. She wants to go, go, go, whether she’s in the yard or on a leash walk. 🚗 Car rides 🌭🍔🍦Food and treats – the way to Valorie’s heart is through yummy eats 🤸‍♀️ 🐾 😴 Her energy level will match your energy – from adventure time to lazy time She knows sit, down, come, kisses & kennel and is learning more basic commands. Walks are exciting, & she pulls a little at first, then settles into a nice pace with you. She is house-trained and bell-trained, & she sleeps in her crate at night. Valorie is very gentle with kids who are respectful to dogs and who know that she will need space at first. Then, she will love and protect them hard. So kids are fine but cats are a 'no' for this girl. She is bashful because of her past and may startle at sudden noises and movements, especially at first. She will need some time – likely days or even weeks – to acclimate to her new home, before many new people or visitors start showing up. Valorie will continually remind you what life is all about and keep you focused on all the joys there are to behold. Want to be her forever hero? Apply to adopt her today. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped, plus current on preventatives for heartworm and flea/tick. Her adoption fee is $175. 🖤🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜 APPLY @ PawsitiveTailsKC.org 💜💙💚💛🧡❤️🤎🖤

Story
Vera German Shepherd Dog Mix (best guess) DOB: 10/01/2025 Vera is a young German Shepherd Dog mix who’s already showing the intelligence and awareness the breed is known for. Her dad is reported to be a GSD, and her mom—described as a very nice, hound-type dog—found her way to safety while pregnant, resulting in six pups, including Vera. In her foster home, Vera is proving to be a smart, observant puppy who is already picking up on potty training. She’s curious, engaged, and enjoys learning through routine and positive guidance. Like all puppies, Vera will need continued training, socialization, and structure as she grows. With her shepherd mix background, she’s expected to benefit from both mental and physical enrichment to help her develop into a well-mannered adult. Vera is looking for a committed adopter ready to raise a puppy and continue building on the great start she’s already made.

Meet Vernon! 🐾 12 weeks old • German Shepherd mix (best guess) Vernon is a bright, curious, and super sweet German Shepherd mix puppy with a whole lot of potential. This handsome boy is intelligent and eager to learn, already showing the qualities that will make him a wonderful family companion. Like all young puppies, Vernon is still learning the basics—especially potty training, which will take patience, consistency, and time. His smarts work in his favor, though, and he thrives with positive reinforcement and a predictable routine. Vernon does great with other dogs and cats and absolutely loves romping and wrestling with the dogs in his foster home. Because of his playful, high-energy nature, he would do best in an active home that can provide plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. A home with another young, playful dog would be ideal to help him burn off energy and stay engaged. He is also working on kennel training and will continue to improve with structure and supervision. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, energetic puppy and are ready to invest the time, training, and love a young dog needs, Vernon could be the perfect addition to your family. 💙 ✨ All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations. 🐕 If you have other dogs, we require a meet-and-greet prior to adoption. 💲 Adoption fee: $225 📍 Once you apply, the foster will contact you to schedule a meet and greet.

Story
Harley is a 6-year-old German Shepherd/Red Heeler mix who has the whole package: calm, loyal, smart, and deeply devoted to her people. She is house-trained, crate-trained, knows her commands, and settles beautifully in the home. She enjoys her daily walks, her toys, and above all, being close to her humans. A true Velcro dog, she loves nothing more than quietly sticking by your side. Harley can be a bit reserved with men and loves to protect her human. When she is feeling unsure or scared, she may bark or growl out of fear, but with slow, positive introductions, she warms up wonderfully. In her foster home, she absolutely adores her foster dad and teenage foster brother, showing just how loving and loyal she becomes once she feels safe. She gets along with other dogs and is in foster with dogs of various sizes and personalities. She may show herding instincts, so a home with older children and no cats would be best for her. Harley is available through our Foster-to-Adopt program, giving you the chance to get to know her and see just how special she is. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will stick by your side through everything, Harley just might be your perfect match. ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Gentle Soul. Thats the best way to describe my personality. Hi&#44 Im Simba&#44 a senior shepherd mix with the softest heart youll ever meet. Ive been through a bit lately. My owner died&#44 and I was brought to the shelter by family who couldnt take care of me. When I arrived&#44 I had a pretty rough skin infection that caused a lot of my fur to fall out. But good news... Im healing beautifully and making huge strides every day! My glow-up is well underway.

Im the sweetest boy whos ready to enjoy the calmer side of life. At this stage&#44 Im not really into wild play sessions - Id much rather spend my time relaxing&#44 soaking up love&#44 and enjoying peaceful companionship. Id prefer to be the only dog so I can have all your attention&#44 but I could potentially live with a very mellow&#44 respectful dog who understands that Im not interested in roughhousing. Watch my video and see me around other dogs.

What I am interested in? Kind voices&#44 soft beds&#44 slow walks&#44 and someone who will love me for the sweet&#44 loving boy I am. I have so much love to give&#44 and Im just waiting for the right person to see how special I am.

If youre looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold and a story of resilience&#44 come meet me today - I cant wait to meet you.

Love from Simba

Hello! Im Bambi! I came to the shelter and birthed several gorgeous babies who have all found homes but Im still looking for my forever home. I started out quite shy but with the care and attention Ive received here Ive learned to open up and enjoy the company of the people around me. Ive even been described as flawless since I can be left unattended&#44 have done well in interactions with older children&#44 and appear to be mostly house trained. Im sure the right home is out there for me and ideally Id prefer one without other dogs&#44 that way I can soak up all the attention myself. Come by and meet me today!
