Story
Hey everybody, my name is Mae! I am a sweet, laid-back type of gal who's looking for a forever home. It took awhile for me to get where I am now because I was found as a stray and pretty much on the brink of death according to the people who rescued me. I only weighed 35lbs! I am up to 40 lbs. right now. I have an older foster sister who I try to get to play with me but it's tricky because she can't move that fast. I do have two other human foster sisters who I think are pretty cool. My foster mama feeds me in my kennel because I can be a little protective of my food. Lucky 13 had me checked out by the vet and they said the reason why I was so sick was because I have this disease called Endocrine Pancreatitis Disease. Now don't worry, it's not that bad. It just means my pancreas doesn't have the ability to produce sufficient pancreatic enzymes to digest fats, carbohydrates, and proteins so that means I'm on a special diet and enzymes. My foster mom has been feeding me Purina Pro Plan Endo and an enzyme powder. She mixes 2 tsp in my powder twice a day. She said it lasts about a month to a month and a half. I have been eating 3 times a day so I can get to the ideal weight. They said I should be about 60 lbs. Because I was so sick I didn't want to play very much and I'm just now discovering my toys! I love to play now! My favorite things are these round green things. My foster mom says they're tennis balls. They bounce so much! Also, I do like a game of tug of war. I always win! Since I discovered toys, I have also discovered my two-legged sisters' toys. My foster mom says I can't have them, but I try to hide them in my kennel anyway (they usually find them before I can chew them up). I am kennel trained and typically sleep through the night. If I do get up, it's to go to the bathroom and then I'll go right back to sleep. If you have any other questions about me, please ask! Mae will come fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt Mae today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
Spayed Female     Age: 3-5    Size: 55-65 lbs Jambalaya was rescued from life on the streets where her previous owners left her outdoors to roam downtown kansas city and did not provide her shelter or care. Neighbors saw that she was losing her hair and looked thin, so they contacted us to step in. We were able to get her signed over to our care and have begun treatment for her mange which was the cause of her hair loss. Jambalaya is very sweet, affectionate, loves walks, and loves snacks! She has tested well with dogs around her size and would love a home where she can be a couch potato! She is fairly laid back as long as she gets her regular walks and outside time. She does get anxious in kennels and would love a home with someone who could be home with her more often than not, or would take her along on adventures! If you'd like to meet Jambalaya, please fill out our online dog adoption application at kcpaws.orgApril 26, 2024, 4:02 pm

Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption.Adoption fee: $200 Meet Lavi! He was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in rual MO where he and many other dogs were saved from a life of neglect. Luckily at only 6 months old he is very resilient and was more than happy to move on to the next part of his life! Lavi is in a foster home and has been doing so well, his foster reports he is crate trained, doing super well on potty training and is leash trained. He loves to be outside and is a great walking buddy. He does have some herding dog tendencies so he would do best in a home with no cats or toddler aged kids as he is a mouthy player.  He would love a home with another dog to run and play with!April 26, 2024, 4:02 pm

Waverly is on the shyer side and she is looking for a home that will help her grow in confidence. She has been a little scared in the shelter playgroups so she has been hanging out with the other gentle and dainty pups. Waverly was found as a stray so, unfortunately, we don't have any information about her previous life. She is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and ready to go home with you!
