Howdy y'all! Slim here! Jus' wanted to take a minute and introduce m'self! You see, I'm a very very loving dog, I love cuddles and all the attention you can give me! I just soak it up! My mama sez I'm a bit of a messy eater and I'm always hungry! My hobbies include..eating! I may look like I'm deep in thought, but 99% of the time I'm daydreaming about eating! BOL! I love rope toys and stuffed animals. I love me some friends too. I gets along well with most dogs, but I've got a lot of energy, and would love to have a friend my age that I can run around and get in trouble with! I'm also a big talker, I can go on and on and on. I'll even talk to myself! Mama told me I'm as full of wind as a corn-eatin' horse! BOL! I'm still workin' on my inside manners, if ya know what I mean. Coming from the streets, I didn't know there were rules to pottying. I was free to go whenever and wherever I wanted! Guess you could call me a work in progress. I'd love to meet you! If you'd like to meet me too, just click that Apply link and fill out an application!

Story
To apply for Zeus click this link: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 Zeus is a 9 year old black lab mix. He is about 50 pounds and is an extremely sweet, loving, loyal dog. He spends most of his days curled up on the couch. He enjoys going on walks and chasing after squirrels in the backyard. He is still very healthy and active and loves to go on walks (although he doesn’t need to daily by any means) and can go on 1-2 mile runs before getting tired. We think Zeus would be a great dog for a younger or older person who is looking for companionship as he is extremely chill and laid back and house broken. He would also be a good dog for a family that has older children as he is house-broken and does not require a lot of attention.Zeus belonged to the same young couple for 10 years and they recently had a baby. Once the baby became mobile, Zeus was exhibiting some resource guarding behaviors. Zeus worked with a dog trainer and was responding very well to the treatment but with a small child in the house, the couple didn’t have enough time to work through behavior modification training with Zeus and after speaking with their veterinarian, they decided to try to find Zeus a new home. He never bit the child but would grumble when the child would come near things Zeus perceived as his. He’s been around older children many times in his life and there’s been no issues but would be best in a house without small children. The family is very eager to help Zeus find a loving home as he’s been an unbelievably sweet and loving companion.September 20, 2023, 9:45 am

Story
Hey everybody, my name is Mae! I am a sweet, laid-back type of gal who's looking for a forever home. It took awhile for me to get where I am now because I was found as a stray and pretty much on the brink of death according to the people who rescued me. I only weighed 35lbs! I am up to 40 lbs. right now. I have an older foster sister who I try to get to play with me but it's tricky because she can't move that fast. I do have two other human foster sisters who I think are pretty cool. My foster mama feeds me in my kennel because I can be a little protective of my food. Lucky 13 had me checked out by the vet and they said the reason why I was so sick was because I have this disease called Endocrine Pancreatitis Disease. Now don't worry, it's not that bad. It just means my pancreas doesn't have the ability to produce sufficient pancreatic enzymes to digest fats, carbohydrates, and proteins so that means I'm on a special diet and enzymes. My foster mom has been feeding me Purina Pro Plan Endo and an enzyme powder. She mixes 2 tsp in my powder twice a day. She said it lasts about a month to a month and a half. I have been eating 3 times a day so I can get to the ideal weight. They said I should be about 60 lbs. Because I was so sick I didn't want to play very much and I'm just now discovering my toys! I love to play now! My favorite things are these round green things. My foster mom says they're tennis balls. They bounce so much! Also, I do like a game of tug of war. I always win! Since I discovered toys, I have also discovered my two-legged sisters' toys. My foster mom says I can't have them, but I try to hide them in my kennel anyway (they usually find them before I can chew them up). I am kennel trained and typically sleep through the night. If I do get up, it's to go to the bathroom and then I'll go right back to sleep. If you have any other questions about me, please ask! Mae will come fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $200. Apply to adopt Mae today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Story
Eleven is 5 years old purebred German Shepherd. A month ago we took her into our home from a friend who was rehoming her due to relocating. She is very lovable. She loves to play outside and be in the water. The reason we are rehoming her is because our other dogs have become afraid of her. When we got her she showed no dominance behaviors, but has sense developed them. She is just trying to find her place but it has become unsafe. She also is very over protective of my mother causing her behaviors. She does not like men and has been barking/ growling at my brother since we got her. We have been trying to work with her, however it’s just not working out. She is also kennel trained as well. We want her to go to a loving home where she can run outside. If we send her back to her original owner. She will put her in a shelter. We are trying to prevent this from happening. She would ideally be a great dog for a single woman with no other dogs.

Approx. DOB:  2/4/23                Approx Weight: 36 Lbs Adoption Fee: $225 includes a 2 week trial to ensure everyone's happiness!   Meet Rizzo.   Hi, I am Rizzo. I was found by some nice animal control officers wandering around a neighborhood park and trail. They said I must’ve had a home at some point because I already knew “sit” and “shake” when I came in, but unfortunately nobody ever came back to claim me. Furry Kids came to my rescue when that small animal control was running out of space.   I’m approximately a seven month old German Shepherd mix, whatever that means. I love to go for walks, even though I know I need to work on my leash skills a bit. I don’t bark at other dogs on our walks, but I do pull a bit. It’s all just so exciting! I also love tennis balls, rope toys, and getting the zoomies several times a day! I’m also a professional fly catcher - if you have those annoying things in your house, and catching buzzing cicadas outside is a fun game I’ve recently discovered! There’s currently a dog in my foster home. Like a typical little brother, I love to annoy her. When she finally wants to play back, it makes my day! I also have four human kids in my foster home. They’re awfully fun, and I love stealing their stuffed animals. I can get a little mouthy… I’m a puppy and still learning. I don’t mean any harm in it…someone just needs to teach me the ropes! Because of this, I might do best in a home with older children.   I love my people and like to put my head in your lap. I’m doing so well on potty training and sleep through the night on the floor of my foster parents bedroom without any incidents! I go in the crate just fine as well, as long as you tempt me with a treat! I’m looking for a home to call my own. Could that be yours? I’m a sweet boy who just wants a family to love     I have been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped.  If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient.  You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from 11am to 2:00 p.m.  Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.  Would you like to foster a Furry Kid? Furry Kids' Refuge will supply the food & vet care while you supply the basic house rules & love.......win-win for all!!  Just visit our website http://www.furrykidsrefuge.org/category/fostering/  for more information. Thanks for your support! Story
Meet Uma, a captivating and diligent shepherd who belongs to the esteemed working class. With an undeniable eagerness to learn, Uma thrives on positive reinforcement and affectionate interaction. Her endearing nature reflects a deep reliance on a firm and capable individual to guide her towards productivity. She is a beautiful, unique looking, two year old German Shepherd that finds herself at KC Pet Project due to not being a good fit with the house/living arrangements. Uma is a working dog and so does need a home with the space to get out her energy. Uma likes having a 'job', and is very trainable. She loves to take in all the smells while out on walks and she also loves car rides and is very food motivated. Uma would be ideal for someone well-versed in the admirable qualities of shepherd breeds, Uma promises to be an outstanding addition to a loving and understanding home environment. My ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.
