Story
Hey everybody, my name is Mae! I am a sweet, laid-back type of gal who's looking for a forever home. It took awhile for me to get where I am now because I was found as a stray and pretty much on the brink of death according to the people who rescued me. I only weighed 35lbs! I am up to 60lbs. right now. I have an older foster sister who I try to get to play with me but it's tricky because she can't move that fast. I do have two other human foster sisters who I think are pretty cool. My foster mama feeds me in my kennel because I can be a little protective of my food. Lucky 13 had me checked out by the vet and they said the reason why I was so sick was because I have this disease called Endocrine Pancreatitis Disease. Now don't worry, it's not that bad. It just means my pancreas doesn't have the ability to produce sufficient pancreatic enzymes to digest fats, carbohydrates, and proteins so that means I'm on a special diet and enzymes. My foster mom has been feeding me Purina Pro Plan Endo and an enzyme powder. She mixes 2 tsp in my powder twice a day. She said it lasts about a month to a month and a half. I have been eating 3 times a day so I can get to the ideal weight. They said I should be about 60 lbs. Because I was so sick I didn't want to play very much and I'm just now discovering my toys! I love to play now! My favorite things are these round green things. My foster mom says they're tennis balls. They bounce so much! Also, I do like a game of tug of war. I always win! Since I discovered toys, I have also discovered my two-legged sisters' toys. My foster mom says I can't have them, but I try to hide them in my kennel anyway (they usually find them before I can chew them up). I am kennel trained and typically sleep through the night. If I do get up, it's to go to the bathroom and then I'll go right back to sleep. If you have any other questions about me, please ask! Mae will come fully vetted, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $200. Lucky 13 is providing my adopter with 6 months of prescription food and medicine for free with my adoption. Story
Spayed Female     Age: 3-5    Size: 55-65 lbs Jambalaya was rescued from life on the streets where her previous owners left her outdoors to roam downtown kansas city and did not provide her shelter or care. Neighbors saw that she was losing her hair and looked thin, so they contacted us to step in. We were able to get her signed over to our care and have begun treatment for her mange which was the cause of her hair loss. Jambalaya is very sweet, affectionate, loves walks, and loves snacks! She has tested well with dogs around her size and would love a home where she can be a couch potato! She is fairly laid back as long as she gets her regular walks and outside time. She does get anxious in kennels and would love a home with someone who could be home with her more often than not, or would take her along on adventures! If you'd like to meet Jambalaya, please fill out our online dog adoption application at kcpaws.orgMay 13, 2024, 2:57 pm

Story
Beautiful Nala is a 7 year old German Shepherd. She is reported to be fully house trained and, of course, smart! She knows the commands, sit, come, stay, down, shake and speak among others. She has been overwhelmed in the shelter playgroups but she has previously lived with another dog. She would live to meet any potential canine siblings before heading home to endorse a good fit. Nala is on the more reserved side with strangers but once you are her family, she is playful and affectionate. She is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed, microchipped and ready to go home with you!
