Story
Butch is 1.5 years old, he is very sweet, loves to play tug of war and fetch, and he loves to run around the yard. He is a bit timid, but warms up to people quickly. He is needing a good home with people that have space for him to run and play. I have taken him into my care temporarily, his previous owner had posted him online for rehoming due to not having the space or ability to accommodate his high energy. He is not neutered, and he is up to date on vaccines. He has some separation anxiety and is nervous in new places or around new people. He needs an experienced owner or someone that can afford training to help him gain confidence and work on his anxiety. He also needs a home that can provide him room to run, take him for walks, and other mental stimulation/enrichment. He is such a sweetie, but I cannot care for him long term.

Pet Location: Wayside Waifs Campus - Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days to meet me! My Friends at Wayside say: - I am enrolled in Waifs with Wisdom. This is a program for dogs to learn basic commands and leash walking skills. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - I`m a sweet, active boy who loves to play with other dogs.- I have experience living successfully around cats in my previous home.- My previous family said that I love car rides!- I am eligible for a Slumber Pawty, a 7-10 day in-home trial period. Please visit our website for additional information. My home needs are: - No apartments or shared living spaces for me, please! - I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies. - Wayside recommends bringing your children 9 years old and younger out to meet me before adoption since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises.- For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags. Check out my super cool new video! Scroll through my photos to watch it.Hi there, I’m Pine! I’m playful and silly and so much fun! Once you’re my people, my tail wags in pure joy whenever I am with you. I can’t wait to be your constant companion and best friend. Let’s get together and start making memories. I’m ready!I’m a handsome, 2-year-old, 55-pound Lab mix, with the prettiest smile, gentle brown eyes, shiny fur, and a big, happy, delightful personality. I was crate trained in my previous home and I was making progress at housebreaking, too. Please stay patient with me as I get settled in, as an adjustment period in a new home is normal. If you keep me on a schedule and get me outside for plenty of breaks, it will help to set me up for success. I first came to Wayside as a wee pup with my whole beautiful life ahead of me. I was quickly adopted, and I’ve had a good life. I know what it means to be a beloved member of a family. Sadly, my family life went through changes, another new baby was on the way, there was just too much going on. I understand, but I still miss them. Lucky for me, I have another chance to find a new family to love. I hope that’s you!In my previous home, I happily slept in my crate at night, and I successfully lived with men, women, kids, cats, and small dogs

Scroll through my photos to watch it. Hi there, I’m Xena!I’m a 6-year-old German Shepherd with a zest for life and a heart full of love. Don’t let my age fool you, I’ve still got plenty of that classic Shepherd energy and goofiness that’ll keep you smiling every day. Whether we’re going for a hike, hitting the trails, or just playing in the yard, I’m always up for an adventure with my favorite people.I’m both housetrained and crate trained, so I’ve got the basics down. What I’m really looking for now is an active home where I can stretch my legs, explore the world, and be included in your daily life. I thrive when I have a job to do, even if that job is simply being your loyal sidekick.I got to go on a field trip. I jumped right in the back seat. I rode in the car beautifully. I loved being able to stick my nose out of the windows. We only walked around Minor Park for about 30 minutes since it was already so warm. I did great. I enjoyed a sausage biscuit and an ice cream pup cup from Sonic. We went for an extended car ride after that. I had so much fun. I can`t wait to go again.I am a bit afraid of other dogs and unsure of the best way to interact with them. My friends at Wayside have been working on teaching me how to be comfortable around other dogs but for now, I`ll need a home without other dogs in it and where I don`t have to worry about going t

Pet Location: Wayside Waifs CampusMy Friends at Wayside say: - I`ve been described as 100% good boy!- Chews, Kong-like feeders, puzzle toys—help to keep me entertained!- I have a lot of energy and need an active adopter! My home needs are: - I must meet other dogs in the home before adoption to ensure that we can be buddies.Hi, I’m Hank! I’m a 3-year-old German Shepherd mix, and I’ve been told (more than once) that I’m 100% a good boy. Honestly, I take that title very seriously! I’m a big-hearted, affectionate guy who LOVES to love. If it were up to me, I’d spend my whole day curled up in your lap, giving kisses, soaking up cuddles, and being as close to you as possible.I’m also an active, energetic boy who is looking for an adopter who enjoys staying on the move. Hiking, exploring, playing, going on adventures; you name it and I’m ready! I would make an awesome adventure buddy, and when the day is done, I’m just as excited to switch gears and become your snuggly couch companion.I really enjoy toys, especially balls! Balls are my absolute favorite, but I’ll happily keep myself entertained with enrichment toys, too. Give me something to puzzle over or toss around, and I’m one happy pup.I’m a smart guy who loves learning and is super treat motivated. I’m eager to keep building my skills, especially with someone who enjoys training as much as I do. I also love meeting other dogs, but I do need to meet them first to make sure we’re a good fit.If you’re looking for a loving, loyal, energetic best friend who will give you kisses, keep you laughing, and join you on every adventure, I think we might be a perfect match. I can’t wait to meet my furever family… Could that be you? Love, Hank

Please arrive at the shelter before 4pm on our open adoption days so we can meet!- Wayside recommends bringing your children 9 years old and younger out to meet me before adoption to make sure they enjoy my enthusiasm for life! Hi, my name is Taka! I’m a 1-year-old shepherd mix with big, soft eyes, a gentle soul, and a heart that just needs a little time to shine. I might be a little shy when we first meet, but once I feel safe and know I can trust you, I’m full of love, loyalty, and tail wags.I’m still young and learning about the world, so I take things at my own pace. New people, new places, and new dogs can be a little overwhelming for me at first, so I do need to meet all family members (including the canine ones!) before going home. But with patience and kindness, I promise you’ll see the sweet, playful pup hiding just beneath the surface.Once I’m comfortable, I absolutely love being near my people. I’ll lean in for gentle chest pets, curl up close for cuddles, and follow you around just to be near. I especially light up when we’re doing something fun together, like playing fetch with my beloved tennis balls, going for a walk, or working on new commands. I`m already a pro at sit, down, and wait, and I’m super treat-motivated (soft treats and cheese are my faves!), which makes me eager to keep learning.I’m an active boy who enjoys exercise, leisurely walks, hikes, and exploring the great outdoors, but I’m also content to just hang out once I’ve had my playtime. I love structure, calm environments, and people who understand that sometimes I need a little extra time and space to warm up.If you’re a patient, kind-hearted person or family who’s willing to give a shy guy a chance, I promise I’ll give you so much love, loyalty, and joy in return. Story
Meet Snickers! He is a shy but incredibly sweet little gentleman who blossoms with gentle encouragement. Once he feels safe, his loving personality shines through—making him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a tenderhearted pup. Snickers enjoys playing with other dogs and is very curious about cats, watching them with friendly interest. He’s also a smart boy who loves his kennel. Tell him “go in,” and he trots right in on his own. He knows to sit politely before meals, has shown no food aggression, and—true to his name—he absolutely loves to eat! This clever guy is already potty trained, knows how to use a doggie door, and understands basic boundaries. He’ll hop onto furniture if allowed but listens well when told “get down.” Snickers enjoys toys, especially ones he can chew on, and he’s still learning how to walk confidently on a leash. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal, and loving young pup who just wants a safe place to land, Snickers may be the perfect match. He’s ready to find a family who will give him the patience, security, and affection he deserves. Snickers will come with age-appropriate vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt Snickers today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.
