Story

Princess is an approximately 3 year old spayed female shepherd mix that desperately needs a home. Her owner was unable to continue to feed her, and a neighbor stepped up to help care for Princess but they are not able to care for her long-term. Princess is good with other dogs, and after having multiple litters of puppies before getting spayed, she is very maternal. She is friendly with strangers but will let you know when they come into the yard! Princess appears to be house-trained and is non-destructive when she comes inside the house at night to sleep. Once she knows where “home” is, she is not one to wander and sticks close to where her people are. Princess is fully vaccinated but is unfortunately heartworm positive.

Story

Carrots is an owner give up to our rescue. Below is the information her owner gave us initially. I have had Carrots for almost two years now. She has been the most amazing friend I could have asked for. She rarely barks and only lets out an occasional whine if she needs to go out or is wanting some attention. She’s a well behaved for a dog that lives her life with me in a small dorm and can only go out to play fetch or go for a walk when I’m not at class or work. She needs better. In general, she has been amazing for the hand she’s been dealt. I actually couldn’t be more grateful for how well she’s treated me as she’s grown to be near a full two years old!! I am having to part with her because she is still a puppy, and I’m a Junior in college struggling to work and commute on weekends when I have to, and give her the attention she deserves. She’s trained well. She sits on command, she can stay if you ask, she’s house trained, and she’s comfortable with her kennel if needed. She uses a harness for walks and does great. She was trained to walk on the left of you and she’s usually pretty good about staying focused. She has started the process of being an ESA certified dog but has not rec'd her second certification. Her previous owner said that she was around a child once and growled so we do not recommend her with small children. She has never been around cats so we cannot say whether she will or will not be okay arounds feline friends. She would make a great family member for an active family. Carrots is being fostered in MS but included in your adoption fee is transport to a location near you by Rescue Riders Pet Transport, the most animal friendly transport on the road! Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:) We are delighted to announce the upcoming arrival of tripod Vicki, a charming and energetic 8M old 40lbs puppy from Egypt, who will be joining our community of handicapped dogs in October. Vicki's history is marked by a traumatic experience, having been rescued from a dire situation involving a severely injured leg infested with maggots and pus, which required amputation to ensure her survival. Happily, Vicki has grown into a sweet and engaging companion, exhibiting strong attachment to her human family and displaying excellent compatibility with both people and dogs. All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social. Meet Kuku🧡 1.) Health Condition * Neutered. * Microchipped. 2.) Rescue Story * Kuku is one of the puppies of #AdogsDanpoong. During one freezing winter, Danpoong gave birth to five puppies at a shelter and was soon diagnosed with mange. Adogs urgently rescued the family. 3.) Basic Information * With People: Loves people and greets familiar ones with kisses! However, he is on guard with unfamiliar people and when people make quick movements — he may bark and avoid treats. Is scared of guests, barking at them and hiding in another room. With a slow and gentle approach, he opens up quickly. * With Dogs: Is indifferent to dogs who don’t engage but approaches those who show interest in him. Gets along very well with even new canine friends. Gets along with most dogs. * With Cats: Calm around still cats and gently sniffs them, but has a lot of curiosity and tries to chase cats that run away. Might try to fight back against aggressive cats, so supervision is necessary. Tends to bark when he sees a cat passing outside the kennel. * Separation Anxiety: None. Plays or naps peacefully when alone. * Potty Training: Prefers outdoor potty but is 100% trained using indoor pee pads too. * Hygiene: Doesn’t enjoy baths but tolerates them well. Is afraid of nail trimming and nips, so walks are used to keep nails short. Is very good with brushing and toothbrushing. * Walks: Goes for walks with double leashes. During walks, we are also working on recall training. Except in situations where someone suddenly approaches and startles him, he remains calm and focused when called by name, and comes toward his handler. Has become more accustomed to walking and no longer reacts to passing birds or cats. * Car Sickness: Experiences motion sickness after about 15 minutes. It’s best to avoid feeding him right before car rides. * Biting: Bites defensively when strangers approach and try to touch him immediately. This doesn’t seem to be out of aggression but because he’s trying to protect himself. Sometimes, he bites when being forced to do something, so caution is needed. * Barking: Is a bit gluttonous and may growl when people touch his favorite treats. Sometimes barks in fear when he hears a sudden or unfamiliar noise, but calms down quickly. * Likes: Loves treats. Comes running, sits and waits in anticipation once he hears the opening of the fridge. Loves playing tug, too! * Dislikes: Expresses discomfort by baring teeth if picked up or touched against his will. * Tricks: Is a genius who has mastered 'sit,' 'lie down,' 'paw,' 'nose' and 'V,' and understands the difference between right and left paws!
