They absolutely adore people and love being part of the action. Meet Oso! 🐾❤️ Oso is a 2-year-old, 56-pound Shepherd/Rottweiler mix—and behind that serious face is the sweetest, gentlest boy you could ever meet. Oso has been at a sanctuary in South Texas, along the Texas/Mexico border, since he was a tiny puppy. He arrived at just 8 weeks old with his siblings, Cowboy, Roxy, and Buddy. And sadly, the reason Oso is still waiting isn't because there is anything wrong with him. It's because the humans who promised to help him failed him. About 22 months ago, a rescue asked the sanctuary to take Oso and his three siblings into care, promising to financially support them and take them on the next transport. Then the rescue delayed. And delayed. And delayed. They never provided a dime toward their care before ultimately disappearing completely when the puppies were about five months old. Then another rescue stepped in and tagged Oso and his siblings. Everyone thought their luck had finally changed. But just six weeks later, that rescue ghosted them too. The sanctuary begged for help. Nobody stepped up. And through absolutely no fault of their own, Oso and his siblings grew up in a sanctuary instead of growing up in forever homes. Oso could have been home with his family almost two years ago. Two rescues took that opportunity away from him. Now, we're stepping in to help make sure Oso and his siblings finally get the futures they deserve. ❤️ 🐻 Meet Oso Oso may be the biggest of his litter, but don't let his size or serious expression fool you. Give this boy a little love and he transforms into the gentlest giant. ❤️ He's sweet, affectionate, playful, and incredibly food motivated. He loves playing with his kennel mate and would really enjoy having another dog in his forever home. Oso would also benefit from regular opportunities to socialize and play with other dogs through dog parks or doggy daycare if he doesn't have a canine sibling. 👧 Older Children Oso would do best with older children because of his size and playful nature. He's a sweet boy, but he's a big boy who can get excited during playtime! 🧸 Toy Lover Oso LOVES toys. And apparently, Oso also believes toys are meant to be thoroughly tested for durability. Many toys don't last very long around him! 😂 A future Oso family may want to invest in some seriously tough toys—or simply accept that toy shopping is going to become a regular hobby. 💦 Oso Loves Water! If your idea of a perfect day involves splashing around, Oso wants in! He loves water and would absolutely enjoy having a pool in the backyard or taking trips to dog-friendly bodies of water where he can play. A family that enjoys outdoor adventures would be a fantastic match for him. 💃 The Oso Tap Dance Oso has a very special talent. He tap dances when it's time to eat. This big boy gets SO excited about food and treats that his feet apparently can't stay still! You may want to invest in a pair of tap shoes because Oso is ready to put on a show every time dinner is served. 😂🐾 And once his meal is finished, don't be surprised if he has another little performance planned... If Oso is still hungry, he'll sometimes cross his paws as if to politely say: “Excuse me. I believe there has been a small error. I appear to still be hungry.” 😂 It's possibly the most adorable and proper complaint you'll ever receive. 🏡 House Manners Oso is crate-trained and mostly house-trained, giving him a great foundation as he transitions into his forever home. 🐾 Meet Luna — A Gentle Soul Looking for Her Forever Home ❤️ Luna is a 2–3-year-old female Shepherd mix weighing about 57 lbs, and she may be one of the sweetest souls you’ll ever meet. Luna was once on the euthanasia list at a high-kill shelter in South Texas. These lists are often posted with very little notice, sometimes only days before a dog’s life is at risk. A wonderful group of people saw Luna and knew they couldn't let her story end there. She was terrified in the shelter — overwhelmed by the unfamiliar noises, smells, and chaos around her. But once Luna was safe in a home, it didn't take long for her true personality to emerge. The scared girl began to blossom into the gentle, loving, loyal sweetheart she is today. Luna has now been waiting at the sanctuary for 9 months, hoping someone will finally give her the forever home she deserves. 💕 Luna’s Personality Luna is a calm, gentle, affectionate girl who may be a little shy when she first meets you. Give her some time and patience, though, and you'll discover something wonderful: Luna becomes your shadow. Once she trusts you, she wants to be right by your side. She is incredibly loyal and will happily follow her person around, becoming your best friend and constant companion. She's a true cuddle bug who loves affection, pets, and relaxing with her people. At heart, Luna is a bit of a couch potato — she'd love a peaceful home where she can spend time with her family and soak up all the love she missed out on before. She does enjoy getting outside, playing with her toys, and wandering around the yard, but she isn't overly wild or demanding. She simply enjoys being outside and taking in the fresh, cool air. And when she's ready to come inside? Well… Luna will let you know when she's ready. 😂 She has a funny little habit of doing a sort of hop-and-run when she's excited, and sometimes she'll completely ignore you when you tell her it's time to come inside because she is far too busy enjoying herself outdoors. 🐶 Other Dogs & Cats Luna would be happy living with another dog or as the only dog in the home. She's incredibly gentle and easygoing. She's also cat-friendly with proper introductions. Her naturally calm temperament makes her a wonderful candidate for a home with other animals. But perhaps Luna's sweetest quality is her motherly nature. When Robin, a young dog who needed a little extra companionship, came into her life, Luna took him under her wing. She loves on him, watches over him, and treats him like her own. Watching this gentle girl care for him is incredibly heartwarming. ❤️ 👧 Children Luna would do best with calmer, more relaxed children who will respect her gentle nature and give her time to become comfortable. She's not looking for a chaotic household. She'd thrive with people who appreciate a peaceful, affectionate dog. 🐾 Training & Adventures Luna enjoys going for walks and does well with her harness. She's crate trained and mostly house trained, although she'll need some reminders and consistency as she adjusts to her new home. She also does well in the car. (The DNA test showed German shepherd, Shar Pei and Chow.) This adorable spirited little boy and his siblings came in to rescue last winter after they were dumped on a back country road. Their mother was found deceased, so we took the puppies in to try to save them. They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Barnabas is a gentle boy, but dose love to run and play with other dogs. He has done amazing with his house and crate training. He is so deserving of a wonderful home to call his own. he is fostered in East TN, but transportation is included in the adoption fee and provided by Rescue Riders LLC.
