Princess is an approximately 3 year old spayed female shepherd mix that desperately needs a home. Her owner was unable to continue to feed her, and a neighbor stepped up to help care for Princess but they are not able to care for her long-term. Princess is good with other dogs, and after having multiple litters of puppies before getting spayed, she is very maternal. She is friendly with strangers but will let you know when they come into the yard! Princess appears to be house-trained and is non-destructive when she comes inside the house at night to sleep. Once she knows where “home” is, she is not one to wander and sticks close to where her people are. Princess is fully vaccinated but is unfortunately heartworm positive.

Carrots is an owner give up to our rescue. Below is the information her owner gave us initially. I have had Carrots for almost two years now. She has been the most amazing friend I could have asked for. She rarely barks and only lets out an occasional whine if she needs to go out or is wanting some attention. She’s a well behaved for a dog that lives her life with me in a small dorm and can only go out to play fetch or go for a walk when I’m not at class or work. She needs better. In general, she has been amazing for the hand she’s been dealt. I actually couldn’t be more grateful for how well she’s treated me as she’s grown to be near a full two years old!! I am having to part with her because she is still a puppy, and I’m a Junior in college struggling to work and commute on weekends when I have to, and give her the attention she deserves. She’s trained well. She sits on command, she can stay if you ask, she’s house trained, and she’s comfortable with her kennel if needed. She uses a harness for walks and does great. She was trained to walk on the left of you and she’s usually pretty good about staying focused. She has started the process of being an ESA certified dog but has not rec'd her second certification. Her previous owner said that she was around a child once and growled so we do not recommend her with small children. She has never been around cats so we cannot say whether she will or will not be okay arounds feline friends. She would make a great family member for an active family. Vicki's history is marked by a traumatic experience, having been rescued from a dire situation involving a severely injured leg infested with maggots and pus, which required amputation to ensure her survival. Happily, Vicki has grown into a sweet and engaging companion, exhibiting strong attachment to her human family and displaying excellent compatibility with both people and dogs. All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social. Puffin is back on the market and looking for the right fit! This smart active girl has a lot of great qualities going for her:*The perfect size at under 45lbs full grown.*Very smart! Too smart actually, she craves structure and enjoys training and learning new commands and tricks and puzzle toys to keep her mind busy. *She was housebroken and crate-trained in her previous home*Loyal to a fault. Once she connects with her person she makes it her life's purpose to please them and keep them safe.*Likes car rides and loves hikes in quiet areas. And at first glance people will think she's some kind of dingo or wild dog if you run into anyone while alone in the woods with her. She looks like a mini shepherd/cattle dog type mix, but her DNA reveals she's actually 50% pittie, 42% husky, and only 8% German Shepherd. But the shepherd personality is definitely dominant: if you love shepherd but want a smaller sized dog she's perfection.She does have her challenges that makes her stay in the shelter particularly stressful for her, and we would really love for her to get into a home environment again as soon as possible. She gets reactive meeting other dogs and "puffs up" all the hair down her back like a hyena, barking and trying to scare them away. It's all out of fear, and she has had a dog friend or 2 in the past once slowly and properly introduced, so might be able to live with the right submissive male buddy with a few careful intros. But overall has been working to learn to ignore dogs on walks which is extra difficult in the shelter being surrounded by dogs she's afraid of all day long. She's also nervous and timid with new people and needs time to assess if she wants you as a friend. She does accept bribes of cheese and chicken if you really want to get on her good side fast. But she's better in a calmer adult home where she can be introduced slowly to regular visitors and doesn't want to be the life of the party. Adults only, fast movements and kids grabbing would make her too nervous. She's quickly becoming a staff and volunteer favorite with her gentle nature and intelligence and we know she has potential to be someone's very best friend in the right home!
