Story
Looking for a loyal, active, and absolutely lovable companion? Meet Jackson, a large boy with lots of energy and enthusiasm for life. He loves to play ball, run around outside, and will never say no to a tasty treat! Whether it’s fetch in the yard or a long walk by your side, Jackson is always up for a good time and would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his playful spirit. This handsome guy is not just about fun and games—he’s also incredibly smart and eager to learn. With a little structure and consistency, Jackson is sure to blossom into the perfect companion. He’s shown some signs of being a bit protective of his toys and food (we like to say he knows what’s his!), so a home experienced with large breeds or willing to continue positive training would be ideal for him. If you’re looking for a devoted, playful, and strikingly beautiful best friend, Jackson is waiting to meet you! Available at the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Birdsboro Pa 19508, KL#1257

Story
Following a hurricane in Louisiana, Felix came to a local animal shelter at the age of 2. They did not have a lot of information on Felix at the time of adoption. We were told that he was thought to have been a stray in Louisiana up till then. When Felix came up, they had him neutered and caught him up on his shots. He had a good disposition and reminded my husband of his first dog. We adopted Felix in October of 2022. Since then, we have taught Felix many things. He's become Crate Trained. He's learned what a tox is and how to play with some of them. Felix is partially house trained. Where he falls short is when he indicates that he wants to go outside for potty. He holds it after indicating he needs to go out and while you're with/watching him. If you need to first go to deal with a screaming toddler, he generally doesn't wait long before pooping on the floor. We have not had issues peeing inside for over a year. We love Felix, but he's becoming too much with a toddler and newborn.

Story
KENNEL ID #18804 Nellie and her five littermates were born on December 29 and are currently living in a foster home with other dogs and pets. The puppies have begun leash and house training and have been working on good manners from an early age. Teaching puppies good manners helps them become better dogs, and consistent training reduces the likelihood that they will be surrendered to a shelter. Their mother, Nova Lee, and her two nine-month-old sisters, Willow and Stormy, were rescued from a difficult situation due to their owners' struggles with addiction. The sisters survived a house fire, and Nova Lee and Willow had to deliver their puppies in the burnt-out home. Stormy gave birth to her pups after being rescued. Nova Lee, Stormy, and Willow have already found loving homes. Stormy, Nellie’s aunt, recently had a DNA test done, and the results are available in the pictures. The father of all three litters is a Great Pyrenees mix, so some of the puppies may grow quite large. Nellie and her littermates are receiving monthly treatment for generalized demodectic mange with Bravecto. Demodex mites are naturally transferred from mother to puppies, and the immune system usually keeps them under control. However, in some puppies, a delay or defect in immune development can lead to an uncontrollable population of mites. Demodectic mange in puppies is a skin condition caused by the Demodex canis mite. All dogs carry these mites in small numbers. The condition is not contagious and likely stems from their stressful beginnings. (Spay appt. 5-1-25) Adoption Fee $475 includes spay or  ($75 refund with proof of spay) Thank you for your interest in rescue.  If you would like to be considered for  adoption,  please submit an application to adopt.  If you have any questions regarding the adoption process, please email:  rescuedp2024@icloud.com  or ddlu219@yahoo.com   for dog/puppies.    APPLICATIONS TO ADOPT : DOG         BIRD        REPTILE          SMALL ANIMALS        May 10, 2025, 7:03 pm

Story
Tennessee is the embodiment of your ideal furry companion. A striking blend of Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd, he's just 2 years old and bursting with energy. Tennessee thrives in a dynamic environment, making him the perfect fit for an active household. Despite his boundless energy, he possesses a gentle nature and remarkable intelligence. If you're seeking a trainable partner, Tennessee is your perfect match. Beyond his exuberance, he knows how to appreciate moments of stillness and enjoys cuddling up with his favorite humans. His luscious black sable fur requires regular brushing to maintain its health and stunning appearance. Tennessee is well-versed in basic commands, walks gracefully on a leash, and has excellent recall and boundaries. While he's tolerant of other dogs, his lack of exposure during his formative years means he's still learning proper pack manners. He's not one to bark unnecessarily, reserving his vocalizations for when something seems amiss. Tennessee is kennel trained, although he's not shy about expressing his dissatisfaction with confinement. Nevertheless, he can be trusted to behave responsibly when left alone at home. Plus, he's up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, neutered, and fully housebroken, making him the paw-fect addition to your family.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 12:11 am

Story
Purebred German shepherd purchased from breeder in Harrisburg area in 2021. Bailey is 3 yrs old. She is protective to her people and her kids. Can get anxious and reactive towards strangers and other dogs. Bailey is a very sweet and loving dog, just gets really excited sometimes. Loves to play catch. Loves walks. Bailey would thrive with someone who has shepherd experience. Bailey would be great pet with a home with older children or no children. She would also be great as guard/security dog. Bailey loves to chase bunnies and birds, so she would love a place to run around. Bailey knows her basic commands, potty trained, crate trained, fixed, and micro shipped. Bailey is eager to please her people and is food motivated. Unfortunately our life has gotten busier and we cant offer Bailey the attention she needs and deserves.
