Story
Gus was one of the 100 animals that was rescued from West Hempfield Township in Lancaster Pa. He was neglected, starved, and kept on a lead that was only a foot long. The Philly SPCA rescued the animals and from there is where we got gus gus. After a couple of weeks, he became very attached to myself and started to safeguard me. Unfortunately, we live in a two person household. We have a trainer and are still currently working with him, but we feel he would do better in a single adult household. He is muzzled trained, walks well, plays well, knows commands, and trains easy. He is a dog that attached to his person. Happy to answer all questions.

Story
She is 1 year old and she has to be the only animal in the home where she can have all the attention she needs. She loves to play fetch with a ball. She plays tug of war with ropes, loves belly rubbs and she is crate trained. If the family has kids, they have to be older than 10 years of age.

Story
I got Boone as a puppy, out of a litter of 9. He is very loving loyal dog. He would do best on a farm or with someone who has a lot time to play with him. He absolutely loves to run and play ball. Very high strung but is very loving and calm when he gets tired out. I am only rehoming because I have a baby on the way, an infant and a toddler live in the house I am relocating to and I will not have the adequate time to handle the time Boone needs unfortunately.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Well what a cutie we have been asked to help.  Beau was first born to a family that was going to just kill he and his siblings so a kind person took him in and they loved him but then found they were going to lose their home and they had 3 children so a puppy on top of everything just was not going to be ok.  So Beau came to live at the ranch.  He is doing great and having fun learning to be a puppy with lots of playmates.  He is going to be a BIG boy so we would love to find someone with a large fenced yard and a knowledge of shepherds :)  Beau says he is in no hurry he is having a ball at the ranch :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Story
Koda is a 8-year-old German Shepherd originally rescued in Yokosuka, Japan when he was just 1 yr old. He is from a family of police dogs, but did not undergo formal training due to abandonment. He has completed basic obedience and is a very loving boy. He is looking for a best friend who will be his companion for the rest of his life. We have had Koda for over 5 years now and never thought we would be in a position to have to rehome, but life threw a curveball at us and we know Koda deserves better than what we can give him now. Koda suffers from separation anxiety, but we are hoping the right person who can meet his needs will ease this transition for him. Koda may need formal behavioral training due to his reactivity from years of under-stimulation. It is imperative to us that he does not get rehomed again after this, so we are urging anyone interested to please reconsider if you have young children, a small breed dog, a geriatric animal, or cats (Koda does not know his size).
