Story
Available near Bloomsburg PA!-Not an Aussie but we had to save her! Bess (aka Poppy), previously listed as ‘coming soon’, is now ready for adoption and searching for her furever home. About a year old, Bess is UTD on shots and spayed. She was found in Arkansas with fish hooks in both her mouth & paw. A Good Samaritan/ASF volunteer got her the medical care she needed thru ASF and nursed her back to health. Bess is a 10 pound bundle of sweetness with a lot of energy, a lot of love to give, and a nice off switch. She is the best at bedtime snuggles and will easily sleep thru the night by your side. She is good with dogs and dog friendly cats. A larger, playful dog companion would be the best fit for potential fur siblings as she can play rough at times. She knows sit, down, come, and is learning stay. Bess is potty trained, but still has accidents. She is crate trained, but can be loud in protest at times. This girl also has a really good nose! With some basic training, she would do well with scent work, or a game of household hide-n-seek with her family. If she sounds like the perfect fit for you/your family, please fill out an application and reference Bess (aka Poppy). All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to her new furver family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.

Story
Hi, my name is Lazarus! Sadly, my previous owners could no longer have me, so I was surrendered to the shelter. I used to live with two other dogs, and would be happy to have a canine pal again. Sometimes I can be a little intimidating because I like to bark a lot, and I'm a big boy. I'll admit I'm not a fan of restraint and have some handling sensitivity, so any children in the home should be 8 and older, and preferably have large dog experience. Although I may come off as a tough guy, I am also very loving, and a loyal companion. I am accustomed to living in a home and not a shelter, so I hope to get back to that lifestyle as soon as possible. Will you consider adopting me?---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Hey there, my name is Bruce! I'm a young Shepherd mix looking for a new home. I did not come to the shelter under the best conditions but they are working to help me heal and learn to trust. I am very shy but with some patience and TLC I warm up and I am very sweet. I would like a home that has experience working with shy dog. I ask any children in the home be over 13 years old due to my shyness and fear of new people. I could get along with another dog with a proper introduction and I am open to living with a cat with a slow intro as well. If you think you could give me the home I deserve then come down and lets meet. ---This dog is living in a foster home and available by appointment only. Please complete an application online at pspca.org to schedule a visit.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024:  Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great.  He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :)  Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE:  Buddy is looking fantastic!!  He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I!  He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt...  Like no one cared, defeated, ready to give up, a banquet for fleas and tics :(  It took us quite a while to get him back to health and still he deals with ear infections from repeated ones not being treated :(  No worries now big man you are loved and valued!Buddy you have your 2nd Chance and we are going to give you an amazing life!!REQUIRES FENCED YARD!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!July 10, 2024, 7:52 pm

Story
Murat is truly the sweetest big guy you will ever meet. We rescued him 2.5 years ago and he has been such an easy dog to care for. He's naturally loyal and listens well off-leash, and always turns heads when out and about. He is great with dogs, but if there are any kids around, he will always choose to play with them instead. He also absolutely loves to play in water, especially during the summer! He is looking for a home where he can collect sticks and belly rubs, but also have a quiet spot to take naps. He will be a great addition to any family, big or small!
