Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024:  Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great.  He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :)  Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE:  Buddy is looking fantastic!!  He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I!  He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt...  Like no one cared, defeated, ready to give up, a banquet for fleas and tics :(  It took us quite a while to get him back to health and still he deals with ear infections from repeated ones not being treated :(  No worries now big man you are loved and valued!Buddy you have your 2nd Chance and we are going to give you an amazing life!!REQUIRES FENCED YARD!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 15, 2024, 12:36 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This remarkable dog was discovered abandoned in a rural area where he had endured exposure to the rain for an indeterminate period. Concerned passersby initially suspected he was injured, but upon my arrival, he eagerly hopped into my car and indulged in an entire box of treats. He's proven to be the most entertaining, affectionate, and intelligent companion I've ever encountered. His teeth bear the marks of neglect rather than age-related wear, and we estimate his age to be around 4-5 years. He adores car rides, and walks, and remains a loyal, dependable companion who never strays far. He is fully house-trained, adept at using a pet door, and gets along famously with other dogs. One of his ears has a distinctive appearance due to a past illness or injury that went untreated, but our vet has addressed it, and it appears to be in good condition now, although it will retain its unique appearance. If you're interested in welcoming Knuckles or any of our Funny Farm friends into your home, please visit funnyfarmpets.org to learn more about our Tennessee-based rescue, the adoption process, the comprehensive vetting procedures these pets undergo before they come to your home, and to submit an adoption application. The adoption fee for this pet is $325, and an additional $200 is required for transport. Currently located in a foster home in Tennessee, this pet will be transported to a northern location after the adoption process is finalized. For details on meeting locations and the transport process, please visit the transport tab at funnyfarmpets.org.

Story
DOB 10-21-2023 This gorgeous girl is ready for her home and Mia is just perfect. She is beautiful, smart and sweet. Mia is crate trained, working on her house training, loves to go for walks and she also loves kids, cats, bossy little Yorkies, naps, eating, playing with others and people! Mia never has a bad day, life is good and she just knows it's going to get better when she finds her home! Adoption fee is 600.00 and transport fee is 165.00. The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Not good with kids, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hi there, I'm Kamala! I am a vivacious pup looking for my furever home. I am old enough that I have outgrown my puppy behaviors but not too old for adventures and playtime. I am very social with people and enjoy getting lots of attention and affection. However, I am not a big fan of children so I ask that any kids in the home be 13 and older. I may do well with another dog with proper introduction. I'm not sure how I feel about cats but I'm also willing to give it a try. I hope that I can find my family who will cherish me and give me the life I so deserve. I will certainly give back all the love, loyalty, and companionship I have to share. Do you think I could be the one for you?---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Hello, I'm Randall! I am a big, beautiful shepherd with a heart as pure as my gorgeous white fur. I am a social butterfly and enjoy lots of attention and affection from people. I love being pet and going for walks to explore the world around me. I may do well with another dog and/or cat with proper introduction too. I sometimes get a little rowdy with my snuggling, and would do best in a home where any children are 5 and older. I am just a wonderful pup and I deserve a happy home. Could it be yours?---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history.
