Story
We believe Dottie to be a strong Dutch Shepherd mix with those ears! All of her 9 pups inherited those ears too. Her pups have already gone into rescue. Now it's Dottie's turn for a forever home. At first , Dottie was scared of everything and everyone, hiding in the dog house whenever her foster was present. She would even take her food dish into the dog house to hide to eat. She LOVES  other dogs! She now plays, polices the yard and goes in and out of the house. She crates very well and walks on a leash. She Is sweet, still a little shy, but loves to be petted and loved on. She needs slow introductions to new people because of her shyness, never has she shown any aggression. She will do great with a loving, active family. Please give Dottie her chance at a forever family. https://bit.ly/codys_adoption_application. ##2418677##

Story
Hi, I`m Nelli! I`m a friendly, sweet, playful, curious, goofy, mellow, and cuddly gal. I love to explore and play, my curiosity knows no bounds! I`m also quite the goofball, making everyone around me chuckle with my antics. When I`m not busy being playful and curious, I`m mellowing out, enjoying a good cuddle. And oh, how I love other dogs! They`re my favorite playmates. When I was brought to the shelter, I was not my best self but the staff here have really made me feel loved and have shown me how great of a dog I am. I have received my vaccines, am spayed, and have been putting on more weight back to a healthy shape. I`m still learning the ropes of potty training, but I promise to try my best. I`m not just a pet, I`m a friend, a companion, a source of endless entertainment and unconditional love. I can`t wait to meet my forever family and fill their lives with joy. Adopt me and let`s start our wonderful journey together!

Story
Meet Saint – A True Survivor Ready for His Forever Home! Saint is a stunning Catahoula/Dutch Shepherd mix with a heart as big as his story. This handsome boy was rescued from a local shelter after being found all alone with a severely broken leg. He was in desperate need of medical care, and thanks to the quick action of Legacy Humane Society and the loving care of his foster family, Saint is now fully recovered and thriving! Now healed and full of life, Saint is ready for his next chapter—with a forever family who will love him as much as he’ll love them. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and fantastic with people and other dogs. (He hasn’t been cat-tested yet, but we’re happy to do so upon request.) Saint is an energetic, athletic pup who lives for playtime. He’s a fan of fetch, tug-of-war, and zoomies, so an active home (and maybe a playful canine sibling) would be perfect for this spirited guy. He plays hard and loves harder! ✔️ Vetting Info: • Neutered • Up to date on vaccinations • Microchipped • Heartworm negative DOB: 4/23/24 ⚖️ Weight: 45 lbs  Adoption Fee: $125 If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loyal, loving, and playful pup, Saint is waiting for you! Fill out the adoption application today, and his foster will be in touch: Adoption Application - Legacy Humane Society  We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Chazz is a 9-year-old Dutch shepherd. He is intelligent, energetic, excited, loving and kind. He adores big open spaces, running and long walks. He loves to be right by your side as much as he can and does tend to suffer from some separation anxiety. That being said, I am away from home 10 hrs. per day, and he does fine at home alone until I get back.     As amazing as he is he does have his issues. Chazz does not get along well with other dogs. So, any living situation would require that he be in a single dog home. Additionally, he gets rather frightened when the smoke detector goes of causing him to shake and potentially get inside the bathtub.     Chazz is a quirky fella who is full of energy and youth even in his adult age. He would be best suited in a home with a large yard or even a ranch. He still responds well to training and listens quite well to commands. I’m positive that with some eager attention and care he would be an amazing hunting dog or ranch companion.

Story
Looking for you ride-or-die soulmate-the kind who sticks by your side through every season of life? Kennedy might just be your girl. She's a survivor with a heart of gold. In 2018, Kennedy was rescued from a shelter where she endured Hurricane Harvey in an outdoor cage, facing 140 mph winds. Whatever came before that storm, she's never let it define her. Kennedy is resilient, wise, and full of love. For the past six years, she's been more than a pet, she's been a steady companion, a hiking partner, a sunset-watching sidekick, and a quiet comfort during hard days. She's snuggled through tears, celebrated joyful moments, and made solo walks feel like shared adventures. Kennedy doesn't just live in your home--she lives in your heart. Kennedy's ideal home is peaceful and loving. She's not a fan of chaos or high-energy dogs, and she's grown less tolerant of small or bouncy pups. She'd thrive as your one-and-only or with other big dogs who respect her space and vibe. She is ready for her next chapter, a home where she can be someone's best friend, protector, and partner in quiet joy. If you're looking for a dog who truly sees you, Kennedy is waiting. The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00 and that includes their vaccinations, spay or neuter, rabies and microchip. Our dogs are also heartworm negative (or we will cover their treatment). To start the process please visit our website and fill out the adoption application (www.dfwrescueme.org) and from there the foster family can answer any questions and arrange a time to meet. Kennedy is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.May 9, 2026, 12:08 am

Story
Berry was rescued as a young puppy from difficult conditions, where he was the runt of the litter. He is still young and growing, and has received regular care and is up to date on his vaccinations. He is a very energetic, strong, and intelligent dog with a playful personality. He can also be curious, alert, and confident. He does well in a crate and is comfortable settling when confined.Because of his size, strength, and energy level, I am looking for a home with an experienced owner who can provide structure, consistent training, and an active lifestyle. A home with more space would be ideal, and he would do best with someone who can spend time with him, walk him regularly, he loves playing with other dogs. I've taken him to dogge day care once and they said “he is a gentleman, shy at first but enjoyed playing with dogs his size.”Berry has a lot of potential and would thrive in the right environment with someone who is prepared to meet his needs.

Story
Meet Atlas: A Resilient Heart Looking for a Soft Place to LandThe Story of AtlasAtlas is a four-year-old Shepherd mix who truly lives up to his name. For a long time, he carried the weight of a difficult past, coming to us from a situation where he didn’t receive the care or kindness every dog deserves. When he first arrived, his spirit was quiet, and his body was weary, but through it all, he has remained one of the most gentle souls we have ever had the privilege to care for.Health & HealingAtlas is fully vetted, neutered, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. He is currently being treated for flea dermatitis, which has left his coat looking a little thin in spots. Please don`t let his `work-in-progress` look deter you! Underneath those itchy patches is a beautiful, loyal dog who is healing more and more every day. He is taking his treatments like a total champ, seemingly grateful for the relief and the soft touch of a human hand.Personality & TraitsIncredibly Sweet: Atlas is a professional snuggler. Despite his rough start, he hasn`t let it harden his heart. He craves affection and will leaning into you for pets the moment he feels safe.Dog Friendly: One of Atlas`s best qualities is how well he gets along with other dogs. He is social, patient, and would likely do very well in a home with a canine sibling to help build his confidence.Resilient: There is a quiet strength in Atlas. He is looking for a family that understands he may need a little extra patience as he learns what it’s like to live in a loving home. The Ideal HomeAtlas is ready to trade the weight of the world for the weight of a warm blanket. He would thrive in a home where he can get plenty of belly rubs and the assurance that he will never be neglected again. Whether you have another dog for him to play with or you just want a loyal companion to join you on the couch, Atlas is ready to be your best friend. Are you the one to show Atlas that his `not so great` days are officially over?
