A loyal five-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky/Australian Cattle Dog mix currently in Castle Rock, CO, whose gentle spirit shines through his striking tricolor coat and unwavering devotion to the people he loves. At 65 pounds, Bowie is a calm, affectionate companion who finds happiness in life's simple pleasures, whether he is soaking up the sunshine, taking a leisurely walk, or curling up with one of his favorite stuffed animals for a cozy nap. He also has a charming Husky-inspired way of "talking," often greeting his favorite people with playful howls that are sure to make you smile! Bowie has completed formal obedience training and proudly knows commands like sit, down, shake, and circle. He travels beautifully, enjoys car rides, comes when called, and settles peacefully when left alone, often choosing a quiet place to relax until his family returns. His easygoing energy makes him a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys a predictable routine and appreciates a dog who is just as happy lounging on the deck as he is exploring the neighborhood. Like many thoughtful dogs, Bowie communicates when he needs space. He has experienced two bite incidents after being unexpectedly hurt or startled when someone accidentally stepped on or fell onto him. Outside of those very specific situations, he is loving, playful, and deeply connected with his trusted people. His guardians have also worked extensively with a professional trainer to successfully address earlier leash reactivity, and he has done very well since then! Bowie thrives in a calm, adults-only home with a low-key lifestyle, thoughtful introductions to visitors, and consistent routines. While he happily shared life with a cat for many years, he needs to be the only dog in his next family. He is healthy, neutered, microchipped, house-trained, current on vaccinations, and eats Hill's Science Diet food to support his sensitive stomach. Hi, I’m Licorice Since you are reading this, you’re obviously looking for a new best friend - hey, so am I! It doesn’t matter how old you are or what you look like, but in case these things matter to you, I was born sometime in May 2023. I’m a mixed breed and weigh approximately 50 lbs. I have a gorgeous black shiny coat with the most stunning white star on my chest. My foster mommy named me after her favorite candy. Hey, that’s me in the picture. Ain't I handsome? I was born somewhere in East Texas and came from a litter of seven puppies. My sisters and I were abandoned June 2023 on the side of the road in a cardboard box. We were very hot and thirsty, and our tummies were grumbling, because the grass and rocks we ate were not keeping us full. Luckily, a Good Samaritin saved us and called Cody's Friends Rescue. We were even more lucky when Cody's found a foster family that would take all seven of us together! All of my sisters have been adopted or moved to new foster homes, but I am still waiting for my furever family. In my foster home is my foster mommy, daddy, and my favorite human buddy (check us out in the photos). There is also Conway a 3 year old pit bull/lab mix, and my best friend Mia who's the same age as me (check us out in the photos)! Want to know my favorite color? It’s green of course - just look at my collar. I love playing with squeaky toys, balls, and tug-o-war with rope toys. I am a big chewer and definitely need chew toys to keep me busy. My most favorite chew toys are yak sticks and chew hooves. I am very energetic and active, but when I’m pooped out, I love to chill out on the sofa while getting belly rubs. I really try to restrain myself, but I can’t help digging in my foster dad’s veggie garden and compost bin. He sure isn’t happy about that, but digging is so much fun! I also like to steal and chew my foster family's socks. I am crate trained and whenever you leave home it's a good idea to put me in a crate, so I am not tempted to chew something I shouldn't. Meeting new dogs and going to the dog park is very overwhelming for me, so my foster mommy says I would do much better as an only dog or with only one selective buddy. I am especially good at math and know exactly how many treats are in your pocket at all times. I hope you like kisses, because I am very affectionate and love giving wet doggy kisses. I am kid-friendly, house trained, crate trained, fully vetted, microchipped, neutered, and let's not forget extremely handsome! What more could ya want? So . . . what do you say?
