Darla is a lovely older German Shepard. Don't let her age fool you. She loves to play. She will chase a ball for hours if you are willing to throw it for her. Darla needs to be an only pet. She is okay to turn out along side other dogs, but cannot be with other dogs. She is a princess and wants her own space. Darla has loved every person she has met and does great at the groomers. Darla arrived as a stray so we aren't sure about her background. She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. She loves attention. Darla still has a lot of life in her and is looking for a best friend that is okay with only having one best friend.Darla is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She doesn't have any known health issues. Please consider giving this older gal a warm, comfy couch for her golden years.

Teddy is seeking a home with experience with shepherds. Teddy has a lot of change in his life and needs to find his forever home. Teddy is protective of the people he bonds to so he really needs home where he will not be interacting with people he doesn't know as he can be reactive to new people. Teddy has so much love to give, but he needs to find the perfect situation where he can feel safe and relaxed. Here on the farm, he loves to run along side our ATV and generally sticks with us. Because he is reactive to new people, he would not do well adventuring away from home where you might run into people unexpectedly. Teddy has done well with the female black lab he goes in turn out with. He seems a bit reactive to other male dogs. Teddy will chase cats give the chance, so a cat-free home would be best. 🐾💕 ASPEN SPENT HER FIRST YEAR SURVIVING… NOW IT’S HER TURN TO BE SPOILED! 💕🐾 Meet Aspen, our beautiful 1-year-old German Shepherd mix with a heartbreaking beginning and a whole lot of love to give. 🥹❤️ Aspen came to Tail Wags from a high-kill shelter in New Mexico, where she landed on the euthanasia list simply because the shelter was overcrowded. 💔 At just ONE year old, Aspen already appears to have been a mama. We suspect she may have been used for breeding, and signs suggest she recently had a litter of puppies. Just a baby herself, already having to be a mama. 🥺 Thankfully, Aspen made it out alive and into a loving foster home, where she’s discovering what life is supposed to be like! And this girl has quite the personality! 😂💕 🌸 A little about our sweet Aspen: 💕 Professional shadow — loves following her humans from room to room! ☀️ Sunbathing queen — happiest soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the outdoors! 🧀 CHEESE OBSESSED! — she’s picky about her treats, but bring out the cheese and suddenly she’s willing to negotiate anything! 😂 🐝 Aspiring bug catcher — currently on a mission to catch every flying insect in the yard. We’re hoping she learns that bees are NOT spicy sky raisins! 🐝😂 🧸 Learning how to dog — soft beds and toys are still new concepts to her. She’s slowly discovering the little luxuries every dog deserves! 🦴 Enjoys having something to chew on! 🏡 Doing great with potty training — she’s been going outside! 😴 Sleeps through the night in her crate — getting into the crate is still something she’s working on, but once settled, she’s quiet and sleeps peacefully. 👧 Loves affection from her foster’s daughter! — Aspen has been enjoying the love and attention she receives from her, and it’s so sweet watching her begin to trust. ❤️ 🐶 Learning to be part of a pack — she’s peacefully coexisting with the other dogs in her foster home! She hasn’t quite built up the confidence to start playing with them yet, but she’s taking things at her own pace. 🦮 Enjoying walks! — she’s been getting out and exploring the world with her foster family! ❤️ Sweet and affectionate — she genuinely wants love and attention from her people! But we also want to be transparent about Aspen. She’s only been out of the shelter for a short time and is still decompressing and learning to trust her new surroundings. Her foster has noticed some occasional defensive reactions, and we’re still figuring out what makes her uncomfortable. Being asked to enter her crate is one situation she struggles with, although she settles beautifully once inside. We’re continuing to learn her triggers, respect her boundaries and help her build confidence. She’ll need an adopter who understands that trust takes time and is willing to work with her using patient, positive training. ❤️ And while she’s doing well around the other dogs in her foster home, she’s not quite ready to let loose and play just yet. That’s okay! Every little step forward is a victory, and we’re letting Aspen set the pace. Aspen doesn’t need someone expecting a perfectly trained dog. She needs someone who understands that she may never have had the opportunity to simply be a loved family pet. Someone who will show her that soft beds are for sleeping, toys are for playing, meals will always come, and people can be trusted. And maybe someone willing to share a little cheese. 🧀😂 At only one year old, Aspen has SO much life ahead of her. She’s already been a mama. She’s already faced a euthanasia list.
