Story
5/21/25- Canelo was born in his first home. They had him since a pup. He has been a yard dog with some shy silly pup behavior. He is crate traing and would do great in a home that will build his confidence. Seems like he never left the property he gets anxious , but he does well with encouragement. He absolutely loves people children and other dogs. He also lived with ducks and never hurt them. He went to the vet today and received his vaccines. Story
We are looking for a loving and responsible family for our sweet 9-month-old male Golden Retriever. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and has a joyful, energetic personality. We originally planned to move into a house with more space, but due to changes, we can’t provide the ideal environment he deserves. He is a purebred, very friendly, and gets along well with other dogs. He loves to play, run, and be around people. We truly love him and want to make sure he finds a happy, safe, and loving forever home.

Story
Sophie is a very sweet 4-year-old Golden Retriever. She was previously a breeder dog, and is now looking for a life of love, comfort and ease. Sophie would like a home where someone is around most of the time. She is fine with other dogs (although not particularly playful with them so far) and she can be a bit shy with people and dogs when she first meets them. She loves her walks, so a moderately active family is a must. Sophie does require daily eye drops and periodic eye check-ups, and would like some help losing a little bit of weight. She’s ready to find her forever home where she can get lots of love, cuddles and walks.

Story
My wife had Zoe as a puppy, but couldn't take care of her, so she gave her to her parents. Unfortunately, her parents can no longer take care of the dog, and our landlord doesn't allow animals. We will have to give her to the pound if we can't find a family soon. She's an older dog but always poops outside. Occasionally, she has incontinence issues if you don't let her out. She is a very gentle, slow-moving, and loving dog. We need someone desperately to take her.

Story
About Me  Hi, I’m Makai. I'm 2 years old, and I came to SCGRR last year after a good samaritan helped me get off the streets.   I’d been living with a person who struggled with addiction and had to learn to fend for myself.    Since coming to SCGRR I’ve learned how wonderful it is to be in a home with people, plenty of food and a warm bed.   I’ve been through a lot, and I’m still learning how to be the best dog I can be.    People tell me I’m a big boy weighing in at 90 pounds.   My people are working to give me training, but sometimes I forget how big I can be.   For this reason, I probably shouldn’t be in a house with young kids.   As I had to fight a bit on the streets, I’m not really fond of other dogs and really want to be your one and only.    In return, I will give tons of love and laughs, and probably even a bit of protection.   I love to be near my humans; it’s my favorite thing in the world. I like to greet new people, and I’m getting used to how nice it feels when they’re gentle with me.  I’m really good in the car, and I’m learning to walk on a leash in the yard.  At this point my trainer is recommending that I not going on walks out of the yard as I’m not very good at meeting other dogs. I like to play with bouncy balls.  I also sniff around the counters, but my humans have made sure I can’t find any tasty surprises there.  I really just want a quiet house to rest in and a yard of my own to play in.  My Ideal Home  I’m a big guy, so I need a yard where I can run around and play. I would do best in a home without  children, just because I’m still learning how to be gentle with my size and I’d never want to accidentally hurt anyone. I want to be your only one so please no other dogs, cats or animals.   If you have the patience to help me learn and grow, I promise to give you all the love and loyalty I have.  I would really benefit from continued training.  I just want to spend my life with my forever human. Will you be that person?  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for me, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application (https://scgrrescue.org/adoption-app/) and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell my personal representative (aka Rep), more about why we are a great match via email at scgrr.adopt@gmail.com   Please note:  We are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California.  Adoption fee:  $600.00 February 24, 2025, 10:20 am
