Story
Monty is a 5 year old who has the biggest heart. He loved being around his people and will be your little shadow. He can get nervous around new people at first but warms up. Men in hats can be spooky at first but now he loves playing with all of the men in his family. He went to training as a younger dog and is trained with an E collar if wanted! He is very food motivated which makes him easy to train. He doesn’t know how big he is so will always want to be sitting in your lap.

Story
Hello I’m Blondie a 12 wk old female mix Great Dane . I’m all legs and puppy . I’m playful , sweet , sleep all night in my crate and I’m already spayed. I’m good with kids and dogs , I’m learning potty outside & I’m ready for my forever home. Our adoption process is usually quick but may take up to two weeks. When you find an animal you are interested in, we ask that you fill out an application on our website, PawsUp4Rescue.org/adopting as a first step so we can determine if your family is a good fit for the animal. If you are, then we will contact you to arrange a time for you and your family to meet the animal so you can decide if it is a good fit. If you currently have dogs, we require them to be present at the meeting to ensure it's a good fit all around. Once compatibility is determined, we move on to the paperwork and finalize the adoption. If the meet is not a good fit, we will keep your application on file for 6 months and will gladly consider your family for another dog. Matilda — 10/10, Would Adopt Again  Reviewer: Her very lucky foster Product: One (1) Matilda Model: Great Dane / Hound mix Year: 1 year old Weight: ~55 lbs of pure joy I give Matilda a solid 10/10 and honestly don’t know how she hasn’t already been scooped up. Pros: Exceptionally happy girl (tail wag included at no extra charge) Friendly with strangers, dogs, AND cats — a rare triple threat Listens well (yes, really)  Housebroken (huge win, zero complaints) A total joy to foster and be around Beautiful medium-large size with a graceful, leggy frame Cons:  May cause excessive smiling  Will improve your mood daily you may wonder how you lived without her Matilda is that perfect blend of sweet, social, and easygoing. She fits right in wherever she goes, greets everyone like an old friend, and seems genuinely delighted to just be part of the action. She’s the kind of dog who makes fostering feel unfair because you immediately want to keep her. If you’re looking for a happy, well-mannered, loving companion, Matilda checks every box and then some. Final verdict: 10/10 — highly recommend adopting this girl immediately. If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 18, 2026, 10:11 pm

Story
Banjo was just a tiny little fella when his litter was dropped off to one of our dedicated fosters. It was quickly clear that these puppies were overrun with worms and unfortunately Banjo was the only one to survive.. Banjo is about 90% blind and has epilepsy (which is well managed) so he needs a special family that will understand his medical needs and be a calm leader when he experiences seizures. He has come a long way and we know that there is a family out there that can see passed his special needs and love him all the same. He does require medication for his seizures twice a day at meal times. Banjo is good with everyone! Including kids. He also loves being with other dogs and is neutral toward cats in his foster home. He is still very young so he does need to be crated when left alone but he has a great foundation for crating thanks to his foster. Banjo rides well in the car and is excellent for bath time. He LOVES food and thinks toys are less exciting. But dont worry his favorite games involve interacting with his people. Banjo is currently in PA but he can be transported to an approved adopter. This special boy needs a special family!

🐾 Meet North (aka Nosey Northy!)Age: ~2 years oldBreed: Great Dane mixWeight: ~59 lbs.💛 About NorthNorth is the sweetest, goofiest boy with a big heart and an even bigger curiosity about the world—hence his nickname, Nosey Northy! He is always eager to explore, sniff, and learn everything he missed out on while in the shelter. He loves being near his people but is not overly needy. North is the perfect balance of playful and relaxed—he enjoys bursts of fun with his toys, especially his ducky toys, but is just as happy being a total couch potato and cuddle buddy afterward. He is also a BIG foodie (cheese is his current favorite!) which makes him highly trainable and very motivated to learn.⚡ Energy LevelLow to moderateNorth would be perfectly happy with one good walk a day or a fenced yard where he can explore, sunbathe, and be his curious self.🏡 Ideal HomeNorth would thrive in a moderately active home that enjoys walks, playtime, and adventures—but also appreciates a good snuggle session. A fenced yard would be a huge bonus for him to safely explore and relax.🧠 Training & BehaviorHouse trainedCrate trained (but does not need to be crated)Potty trainedKnows: sit, stay, down, shakeWorking on: jumping when excited + coming when calledLeash skills: improving quickly with training and very receptiveNot destructive and not a chewer (just a goofy, clumsy boy learning his space)No resource guardingExtremely food motivated and eager to learn🐕 SocializationDogs: Loves other dogsPeople: Very social and friendlyCats: Previously reported not best with cats (has not been tested in current foster home)Kids: Tested well with kids above 5 years, but expected to do very well with any age due to his gentle, social nature🚗 Personality & LifestyleNorth is confident and unbothered by noise, storms, or new environments. He LOVES going new places and is excellent in the car (either crated or lounging calmly in the back seat). He has shown no anxiety, no aggression, and no signs of reactivity in foster care.🐾 HealthNeuteredNo known medical issues or health concerns, but he does best on Salmon & Rice dog food. 💕 SummaryNorth is a joyful, affectionate, and endlessly curious boy who is just discovering how wonderful life can be outside of the shelter. He’s playful, cuddly, smart, and incredibly eager to bond with his people. Whether he’s exploring the yard, learning new tricks, or curling up after a walk, North is happiest just being part of your world. If you're interested in meeting, please fill out the application below!https://www.woofanimalrescue.org/adoptThis dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue.
