Merrick is true to his breed a gentle giant He is all love. He was a heart on his chest inside and out He is good with other dogs, cats, kids, ect… working on training, he goes potty outside.Â
Merrick is an amazing boy. He is crate and potty trained, as this was the primary focus during his first weeks of foster care. He has graduated to being left out when "alone" for small outing. He has done great living in his foster home with other dogs, cats, and kids. His favorite friend is a basset, dachshund mix short little lady. He lays down to share toys with her and clean her face, and she love licking his face and chasing him.Merrick uses a remote collar that allows him to free run outside of fenced areas where approved, but it's become a just in case he gets a whim/in case of emergency/decoration as his recall has been absolutely fantastic and in general he wants to be with his people.Merrick is an absolute love bug! He's always excited to go for a car ride and share some french fries, or lay down and snuggle. He can usually be found touching or laying on another dog or human in the home.He is also the happy dog you look forward to coming home to. He is so excited to see you that he will practically attach to your hip and hop along side you wherever you go.Merrick LOVES affection. So much so, that we are working on his snuggle hogging and waiting his turn. With his size he easily sneaks in under and arm and over the top of someone else getting pet, "nonchalantly" pushing them out of the way for his own hugs.
Merrick would do great in a home with another dog, or in a family where someone is home with him most of the time. Though he is fine for short outting up to 4 hours at a time, he has been spoiled by being fostered in a home where his foster mom works from home, has other dogs, and school age kids around most of the time.
Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.Â
