He was a heart on his chest inside and out He is good with other dogs, cats, kids, ect… working on training, he goes potty outside. Everything is new for him due to being rescued from a breeding situation, so we are doing a lot of training at this point.. However, he is a quick learner! He loves being around his “pack”. The ideal home for Merrick would have someone who is home most of the time, and is committed to continuing his training. While not required, Merrick would probably do best in a home with another dog to help teach him dog behaviors and keep him company. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption. Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. Transportation from the foster home to the adopter is the responsibility of the adopter to coordinate. Just Giants does not adopt outside of the continental US. Meet Genny! This 2-year-old Great Dane mix has been through so much in her short life. Found abandoned in a forest preserve with her 5 puppies, Genny was left to fend for herself and her family. It took rescuers days to trap her as she was terrified of people and had clearly been mistreated. Genny's ears were recently cropped before being dumped and the poor girl had a bad limp. After being trapped, she immediately went to the ER for her leg. She was covered in hundreds of ticks and her leg was beyond repair. Genny ultimately had her leg amputated, and she's still getting used to getting around on 3 legs. She spent some time in foster where she got used to having a leash on her and meeting safe people who won't hurt her anymore. Genny will need an extremely patient and quiet home with no children and a fully fenced, secure yard. Genny has done great with other dogs; she just needs the right people to take a chance on her!

This is Trippel! A stunning, handsome, happy, regal, friendly, tall drink of water. He weighs in at 132 lbs, all muscle and charm. Trippel was born in October of 2020 so he’s a little over 3 ½ now. He has a sleek black coat and loves to be brushed. Trippel travels well in an SUV, is housebroken and crate trained. He loves, loves, loves people of all ages. But due to his size and exuberance, we will not adopt him to a home with children under the age of 10. He lived with a cat previously and is very dog friendly. He would do well as an only dog but also would do well with other dog friendly dogs. We are requiring an above ground, fully fenced in yard. He loves going on walks and does very well on a gentle leader. Trippel is very food motivated and will take food off counters. His adoptive family must be ok making sure all food is put away securely. He’s a smart boy and knows when things are left out and assumes they were left out for him. Trippel has a very loud bark and when inside the home, he will let you know when someone is there. He’s an incredible boy that will follow you around, sleep at your feet on a dog bed or on the couch next to you. He’d love to sleep in bed with you but is also happy on a dog bed next to your bed. Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Trippel is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet him will be set up for approved adopters only. His adoption fee is $500 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. He is neutered, microchipped and Heartworm negative. He has also been kept on both flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. My foster momma jokingly calls my tail its own power source, so I might accidentally knock very tiny children or potted plants over when I am especially happy, but otherwise I have excellent household manners and am never purposefully destructive. I am already potty and crate trained, though my foster momma says she doesn't need to crate me when she leaves the house because I enjoy lounging in my bed or on the couch until she returns (this life of luxury thing is amazing!) My dream home will include a big family and another dog or two, a fenced yard so I can play with my pals and lounge in the sun. I am pretty low energy overall and do not need a lot of exercise, so an occasional walk would be fine but I am not going to be your marathon training buddy haha! I could use some extra work on my leash walking skills; I was likely previously chained up in my prior life so I am extra alert of my surroundings on walks and can be protective of the other dog in my foster home when we are strolling the neighborhood. Fetching Tails requires adopters of young dogs like me to sign us up for training classes, and I am a quick learner (especially when treats are involved - I am very food motivated!) so I think we will have a great time learning new skills together and seeing how great a family pet I can be!
