Story
Lance was born in Berwick PA to a breeder of Great Pyrenees, and we picked him up just when he hit 8 weeks back in October of 2010. He has been a great family dog, and he gets along great with other family dogs, friends/family, and especially kids. This breed is known for being one of the "gentle giants". When he isn't barking at squirrels in our back yard, he is actively trying to cuddle with someone in the house. Unfortunately, in 2025 my ex and I divorced, which caused his boy (my son) to move out and me to take on another job. Now, he spends almost the entire day and night alone, and he hates every minute of it. His ideal family would have several kids who love oversized stuffed animals to cuddle with, a fenced-in back yard, and a sense of humor. Mostly, he just needs someone (or several someones) who can commit to spending time with him.

Story
You will love Max to the MAX! He is a uniquely handsome and oh-so-soft soft boy! He loves people, his tail is always wagging upon approach, and he expects pets from everyone. He IS quite irresistable, so his fosters regularly indulge him! His foster calls him "a sweetie" who really loves belly rubs. Max is housebroken, and he knows basic commands, like, "sit" and "paw." The fosters are currently working on the "stay" and "down" commands. Max does listen when corrected, he knows his name, and he will come when called. Max is good on leash, and although he is large, he is easy to walk. He always excited to get out into the neighborhood to see the world around him. Max is still young, just over one-year old, so he is quite energetic, "not crazy, but enthusiastic," is how his foster describes his energy level. Max will need a fence at his new home as he is tall and he can jump quite high, so a six-foot-tall fence would be necessary.  Max is great with other dogs, enjoys a parallel run or a game of chase, and he reads social cues well. Max does well in the car, he jumps in readily, and loves to have the windows down so he can smell the fresh air. "A teenager" is how Max's foster describes him, meaning that he is still learning his boundaries, but is very steerable (and with a treat or two) will pick up commands and rules very quickly.  Right now, Max sleeps next to his foster's bed, with baby gates to keep him secure. He does not like the crate and is overcoming some separation anxiety. We don't know much about his history, so we trust that once he feels safe and secure, his anxiety will ease. Max will make a wonderful playmate and snuggle buddy, backyard ball-chaser, and loyal companion for his forever person! (Check out the videos below to see Max in action!) Story
Sylvia is the kind of dog who makes people stop and smile before they even realize why. With her enormous, cloud-like head of white fluff and soulful expression, this Great Pyrenees girl radiates beauty and quiet confidence. Born around November 5th, 2025, Sylvia already carries herself like royalty and truly believes she deserves to be adored. And honestly, once you meet her, it’s hard to disagree.   Sylvia is deeply people-oriented and thrives on connection. She wants to be wherever her humans are, involved in whatever they’re doing, watching closely and making sure she’s not missing a thing. She has no hesitation about expressing her feelings and will gently but clearly let you know when she expects attention, affection, or reassurance. Grooming time is one of her greatest joys, and she soaks up brushing, petting, and pampering as if it were her rightful due.   Playtime brings out her youthful sparkle. Balls and squeaky toys are her absolute favorites, and she delights in engaging both people and other dogs with her friendly, confident nature. Sylvia approaches new humans and canine friends with ease, showing no shyness and a naturally social heart. She has spent time with children, allowing herself to be hugged, handled, and even carried around with remarkable patience and grace, clearly enjoying the attention. While she hasn’t met cats yet, her calm and tolerant temperament suggests she would adjust just fine.   Sylvia will grow into a large and impressive dog, expected to reach at least 80 pounds. As a true Great Pyrenees, she will need space to roam and fulfill her instinct to observe and patrol her surroundings. A securely fenced yard is essential unless she has access to wide-open acreage where she can stretch her legs and feel at ease. With the right environment and a family that appreciates her devoted, affectionate nature, Sylvia will be an extraordinary companion who adds joy, beauty, and a little sparkle to every day.     If you are interested in adopting this beautiful great pyrenees puppy who is ready to come to your home on January 30th please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at Ccrnewengland@gmail.com A   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 21, 2026, 9:05 pm

Story
Sweetheart is the kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention, but somehow ends up with your whole heart anyway. At 5 months old, this tall and graceful Great Pyrenees girl is still growing into her destiny to be a possible 80 pounds girl.  She is currently  28 pounds and expected to become a stunning adult. Her name means “beautiful girl,” and it suits her not just because of her looks, but because of the calm, loving way she moves through the world. Her life didn’t begin with comfort or consistency. She was originally bought to be a guardian dog for a farm in rural Tennessee. Placed outside with no real interaction from the owner, she was with another older Great Pyr who was already working the farm.  Out of boredom, Sweetheart, started chasing the cows on the property.  This was infuriating and unacceptable to the farmer/owner and so he threatened to shoot her. The local shelter in that county asked Critter Cavalry Rescue to take her in to foster care before her life was ended so tragically.  When CCR rescue stepped in, she arrived shy but has quickly blossomed in to a calm and gentle soul that loves children and likes meeting new adults. That alone says everything about the kind of soul she has. Now in a foster home experienced with Great Pyrenees,  she is quietly blossoming. She had never lived indoors before, yet she’s settling in with remarkable ease. She isn’t destructive, doesn’t seek chaos, and seems content simply being near her people. House training is still new to her, but she’s learning steadily, trying her best in a world that is still very new. Sweetheart is wonderfully social in a calm, respectful way. She lives peacefully with other dogs and a cat, enjoying the comfort of shared space and gentle companionship. She adores belly rubs and has discovered the joy of stretching out beside her humans on the couch, soaking in affection as if she’s always known it was meant for her. She loves the outdoors, but she also listens when it’s time to come inside, happily choosing closeness over freedom. Toys are still a novelty, and watching her figure them out—offering soft play bows and tentative curiosity—is a reminder of how much joy she still has ahead of her. Like many Great Pyrenees, she has a thoughtful, independent streak, but it’s paired with kindness and an unshakable calm. Sweetheart is gentle with children, respectful with other animals, and carries herself with a quiet dignity that feels grounding just to be around. She has no bitterness from her past, only an open heart and a peaceful presence. She will be the kind of dog who brings comfort on hard days and calm on busy ones, the kind who makes a house feel like a home. She is good on a leash and doesn't pull which is remarkable. Sweetheart is ready for a family who values gentleness, patience, and quiet love. She needs a fenced yard and is not a good condo or apartment candidate.  Just not the lifestyle that a Great Pyrenees can thrive in. She isn’t flashy—she’s something better. She’s the kind of dog you’ll wonder how you ever lived without.  Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested.   Please let us know where you live.  We adopt out of state to the northeastern states as well here in Nashville, Tn where the rescue is based.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 21, 2026, 9:05 pm

Story
Marilyn is one of  many Tennessee stories that tends to haunt the Great Pyrenees breed that is given the task to protect and defend the flocks of a farmer. They are expected to give their life to defend the predators that tend to pray on flocks of farm animals in the dark of night.  What happens to these giants of gentleness and tender nature,  are that they are left with little medical care, heartworm prevention and appropriate food and monitoring.  Marilyn and her daughter Marlee were seen wondering on a remote Tennessee rural highway and not accepting the kindness of people who tried to approach.  They were scared and wary since people had apparently never been kind to the both of them.  Some determined rescue warriors made it their mission to win these two beautiful females over and to hopefully bring them in to a foster home and a rescue who would sponsor them.  It finally happened and Marilyn and Marlee were captured and drive to a wonderful small farm nearby who was owned by an experienced rescue lady.  Now Marilyn and her daughter are spayed  and will be ready for the caring homes that they deserve.    What we see in the personality of this beautiful white 5 year old angel called Marilyn, is that she is about 67 pounds and has many of the attributes of the Pyrenees breed. She is alert and watching and she knows when you are moving around doing chores and will come find you to stay close and oversee your work. We know that this girl will easily learn how to be a family companion who can trust that her humans do not need supervision during the day.  Marilyn is very sweet and loves pats and scratches. Her demeanor is calm and easy going as she patrols fences and checks out her indoor space.  We want this girl to relax and accept her new role of family companion.  If you are interested please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comApril 21, 2026, 9:05 pm

Story
Name: Kai Currwnt location: S.Korea Age: About 4 years old Sex: Male Weight: 34 kg (75 lbs) Breed: Great Pyrenees Vaccination/Neuter Status: Fully vaccinated & neutered Personality with Adults: Kai is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and well-mannered. He enjoys human companionship and loves being petted, often leaning in for more cuddles. At the same time, he is very independent and perfectly content spending time on his own without being demanding. He has no separation anxiety and shows no behavioral issues. With Children: He is just as calm and friendly with children as he is with adults. No concerns at all. With Other Dogs: Kai shows polite interest when greeting other dogs, but doesn’t become overly excited afterward. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and does not show aggression—even toward more reactive dogs. With Cats: He has shown a tendency to chase cats outdoors, so careful management would be needed in a cat-filled environment. House Training: Kai is both indoor and outdoor potty trained but prefers going outside. If using pee pads indoors, a large and clean area is important, as he prefers a tidy space. Energy Level: Low (2/10). He is very calm, rarely gets excited, and prefers resting over active play. Separation Anxiety / Barking: No separation anxiety. He is quiet and does not bark when left alone. Handling & Affection: Kai absolutely loves being touched and will gently lean into you, asking for more affection. Leash & Walks: Excellent leash manners. He walks calmly without pulling and responds well when called. Due to his size and strength, basic handling awareness is recommended. He waits well at crosswalks and enjoys slow, relaxed walks. Escape Behavior: None. He does not attempt to run away indoors or outdoors. Rescue Story: Kai was rescued from a shelter after being abandoned. Special Notes: Kai is truly a model dog—gentle, calm, and well-behaved both at home and outside. It’s rare to find a dog with such a stable temperament and no behavioral issues. However, he is not a “clingy” dog and may not be the best match for someone looking for a constant shadow. He has received heartworm treatment in December 2025.
