Story
Pepper is a sweet girl looking for a new home. She needs a home with either no other dogs, male dog, or one that is incredibly laid back. As well as a home with kids older than 3 preferably. She ADORES her people and gets along with most any dog she doesn’t live with, unless the other dog pushes her buttons. She has gotten along with smaller dogs as well and has lived with cats and chickens. But I would not recommend her living with a smaller dog long term. She LOVES being outdoors, loves to go on hikes, loves to swim. She displays the typical Pyrenees stubbornness, selective hearing, and resource guarding IF another dog tries to eat her food. So please be mindful of your experience with the breed. Side note: she is NOT a trained livestock guardian dog. She is a house dog who likes to lay on the sofa and cuddle.

Story
https://foha.org/pet/wally2021/ ABOUT THIS ANIMAL: Hi there – I'm Wally, a striking Great Pyrenees mix with a soft, fluffy coat and soulful eyes. I’m looking for a special home where I can truly shine. I didn't come to FOHA with a lot of background info, and it seems I may not have spent much time in a traditional home environment. That means things like TVs or loud noises can be a little overwhelming for me at first. I’m part of FOHA’s Diamond Dog program, which means I come with extra support to help my adopter set me up for success! I’d thrive with an experienced owner who understands the independent and protective nature of my breed and is committed to continuing my training and building trust over time. I need a single-dog home in a quiet, adult-only setting—preferably one with a fenced yard and no shared walls (so no apartments or condos, please). My ideal home will be patient, loving, and respectful of my space. HOW AM I WITH DOGS: I need to be the only dog in the home. I’ve shown some reactivity toward certain dogs and do best without canine roommates. HOW AM I WITH CATS: No cats for me, please. HOW AM I WITH KIDS: I need a home without children. Sudden movements and high activity levels can be stressful for me. I KNOW THE FOLLOWING COMMANDS: I’m still learning! I may not know many formal commands yet, but I’m eager to bond with my people and would benefit from positive reinforcement training. MY HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: I am doing well with housebreaking, and I’m working on being comfortable in a crate. Like many dogs from less traditional backgrounds, structure and routine help me thrive. THINGS I LIKE: Butt scratches (I absolutely love them!) Spending time with my favorite people – especially my FOHA girlfriends and my “mom” Paula Exploring the outdoors – I love to roam and carry my food bowl around the yard Calm, predictable routines THINGS I DISLIKE: Loud noises and fast activity inside the home (like TVs or kids playing) Livestock – I have a strong prey drive and am not safe around farm animals Being crowded by other dogs – I prefer my space Living in busy environments like condos or apartments

Story
Meet Primrose Primrose is a Great Pyrenees mix wrapped in luscious cream and white fur. Her coat is smooth and silky, and her eyes carry the softness of a dog who feels deeply. She came from a hoarding situation and arrived unsure of the world. In a safe home, her sweetness surfaced quickly. Beneath the shyness is a loving, gentle girl who wants nothing more than security and companionship. Personality Primrose is a gentle soul. She is affectionate without being overwhelming. She offers soft kisses and leans in quietly once she feels safe. She can be sensitive to loud sounds and fast movement. Rambunctious children and busy environments make her nervous, and she will remove herself from noise rather than react. She may flinch at sudden sounds, which reflects her past, not her heart. She loves other dogs. They give her confidence and comfort. In fact, she seems more relaxed and social when out on leash, often appearing friendlier to both people and dogs in that setting. Energy and Lifestyle Primrose has beautifully balanced energy. She enjoys strolls, gentle play, and light engagement, then settles easily at home. She walks very well on leash and finds comfort in the rhythm of a calm walk. She is crate trained and house trained, making her an easy addition to a structured home. Ideal Home Primrose would thrive in a quieter, calmer household with another steady dog to help guide her. She needs patience, kindness, and a predictable environment where she can continue building confidence. She may be wary of strangers at first, but once she trusts you, she gives her whole heart. Primrose is ready for a peaceful life filled with safety and love. In return, she will bring softness, loyalty, and quiet joy to the family lucky enough to welcome her home.

Story
We adopted Olive in 2022 and she's the sweetest thing. She is very anxious and needs a lot of love and patience and definitely a yard. We have an apartment and a baby now and she needs more than we can give her. She loves snuggles and pets, other dogs, and children. She's anxious around other adults until she gets to know you and then she's a friend for life.

Story
Monologue (Atlas) is a smart, affectionate, and playful 1-year-old pup. (OK, let's be serious...he's a TOTAL MUSH!!!) He is SO sweet and loves (LOVES!!) to snuggle.  His DNA results show he is a unique mix of Great Pyrenees, Catahoula Leopard Dog, and Labrador Retriever. He’s athletic, expressive (read vocal!), and full of personality—and he absolutely adores all humans. He is potty trained and crate trained. He will happily go into his crate with a treat and sleeps through the night. Because he’s a talented jumper/climber and curious about putting things in his mouth, a secure crate is important when no one is home. He is leash trained, loves walks, and being outside (he would thrive with a fenced-in yard).  Monologue enjoys wrestling and energetic play with dogs that match his energy—especially smaller or more submissive dogs. He is loving his foster family's resident dog but would do best in a home with NO cats. He does best with clear boundaries around resources: Needs to be fed separately from other dogs (he resource guards food) Shares water bowls just fine Loves toys and may try to take another dog’s toy (keep-away is one of his favorite games) Can be selective with dogs, particularly larger males Ideal Home  --  Monologue would thrive in: A home without small children (he’s a big boy and quite strong and playful,). Our 10 year old is fine with his strength. An active adopter who can provide multiple walks or play sessions daily or that has a good-sized yard.  A household that values structure, enrichment, and consistency Why You’ll Love Him Very people-oriented and affectionate Smart, athletic, and engaging Fully potty and crate trained Sleeps through the night Big personality with lots of love to give Monologue is looking for a home that understands young, energetic working-breed mixes and is ready to give him the structure and outlets he needs. In return, he’ll be a loyal, fun-loving companion who brings energy and affection into your life. Adoption Day: February 14th at PetSmart Tysons Corner from 10:00–11:00 AM, an approved adopter must be present to adopt. Some pups may stick around until 11:00 AM for the public event—check our Facebook page closer to the date to see if this pup will be attending the extra fun!  ##2305551##

Story
Charlotte is not only a sweetheart but she is very smart. She is happy to join you as you watch tv or play fetch outside. She is very food motivated so she learns tricks easily as long as treats are involved. Charlotte is potty trained!!!! We leave Charlotte in a crate while we are out working and she has no accidents. Charlotte also sleeps through the night and is not destructive. No shoes have been harmed during the foster period.  Charlotte will learn your routine in no time and be an amazing family pet. I have truly enjoyed fostering her and she has made it very easy. Shes a big baby that weighs over 30 pounds already but she is extremely sweet and loves her people.
