Astrid Meadowkeep has the calm, steady presence you might expect from a Great Pyrenees mix, along with a wonderfully playful streak that keeps life from becoming too serious. Estimated to be around 3 years old, she is gentle, affectionate, and easy to share a home with, but beneath that peaceful exterior lives a girl who genuinely delights in toys, Nylabones, chew toys, and will thank you with the cutest happy bounce around the yard. We have all met those dog- the ones you meet and immediately know were put on this earth to spread joy and have fun. That’s Lasso Hedwig! You can see it in his eyes from across the way and if somehow you miss it, his bouncy, goofy run towards you will fill in all the blanks. The boy is joy on long and loose legs! He approaches life with a bounce, a toy in his mouth whenever possible, and the firm belief that every person, every dog, and even a boring ol’ mud puddle is a potential new best friend/goodtime. The first time this cheerful boy spotted a giant mud puddle, he didn't stop to consider his options. He launched himself into it with complete confidence! And who are we to argue? Estimated to be just shy of a year old, Lasso is very much enjoying the carefree chapter of puppyhood while already showing the wonderful manners of a dog who's learning how to be an excellent family companion. As with all rescue dogs, his age and breed- possibly a Pyrenese/Lab mix, is simply our best educated guess. Lasso’s foster family has shared that he is house trained, crate trained, wonderful with children, and settled into home life beautifully. He's become the perfect playmate for dogs who enjoy an active wrestling buddy, but he's just as happy to settle into everyday family life once playtime winds down. His foster describes him as an incredibly easy and fun dog to have around, and that's a phrase that comes up again and again when talking about him. One of our favorite things about Lasso is how naturally social he is. New people are greeted with happy curiosity and polite manners. New dogs are welcomed with the same easy confidence. He enjoys toys tremendously and, even better, has lovely sharing skills that make him an enjoyable companion during group play. There's an easy rhythm to the way he moves through life that makes him fit comfortably into whatever the day happens to hold. Feline friends welcome too! Lasso met our house cat and all signs point to him being understanding that cats are to be respected- not chased or played with. When the zoomies are over, you'll often find him shadowing his people or happily following the kids around the yard, content simply being part of whatever they're doing. He doesn't need to be the center of attention. He just wants to be included in the fun, and that quiet desire to be part of his family's adventures makes him especially endearing. Lasso would LOVE a home with another playful dog because he genuinely enjoys having a canine buddy/playmate, but more than anything, he's looking for an active family that appreciates a cheerful companion who is always ready for the next adventure, whether that's a walk through the neighborhood, an afternoon tossing toys, or discovering a new watering hole to splash around in. Charlie is a high energy dog best suited to a single family home with a large fenced yard or a home with acreage. He looks like a lab, but has Great Pyrenees working dog needs. He was a surprise gift to my wife 6 years ago as a service-dog-in-training, but unfortunately she had to return him to the breeder shortly after due to having to relocate. He unexpectedly returned to her when he was dumped and picked up by animal control 2 years ago -- his chip had not been updated when she surrendered him. Initially my wife was training him to be a service dog and had his qualification test lined up (prior to the initial relocation), so he comes housebroken and "half trained" - he needs some reinforcement training. We're looking to rehome him now due to relocating again, this time from California to the Portland, OR area. We had to downsize from a 3000 sqft home to an 800 sqft apartment, and he is struggling to acclimate to apartment life. He has shown some anxiety, but no aggressive behaviors.
