Buddy feels like the kind of dog who should come with a porch, a couple acres, and a standing invitation to be included in absolutely everything. Big ol’ smoosh-face energy, giant-hearted best friend, enthusiastic walking buddy, couch snuggler, toy collector, daycare socialite… he somehow manages to be both a “let’s go do stuff!” dog and a “perfectly content melting into the couch beside you” dog all at once. At just about a year old and already 87 lbs, Buddy is a young dog with growing and learning still to do, but what shines through immediately is just how social, affectionate, and genuinely good-natured he is. Rescue rules apply, so breed and age are our best guess, but we suspect some Anatolian/Pyrenees/Lab type magic in the mix. After a thoughtful introduction period, he now spends his days playing, lounging, sharing space, and generally enjoying life alongside his dog friends. He has also attended daycare with dogs of all sizes and continues to show himself to be social, playful, and appropriately communicative with other dogs. One of the things we really loved seeing during our time with him outside of his foster home was how nicely he reads the room with other dogs. He enjoys play, absolutely, but he also takes breaks, respects dogs that are not interested, and recovers quickly from moments of stress without overreacting. People? Buddy thinks people are excellent. He was loving and confident with everyone he met, happily accepted handling, rolled over for affection, and handled new environments, noises, and activity with an easygoing attitude. When we spent the afternoon with him he was surrounded by new people and he soaked up attention from strangers like it was his full-time job. He especially gives off that “big friendly dog at the brewery patio hoping someone shares fries” kind of charm. His foster lovingly calls him “Smoosh Face” because one of his favorite activities is snuggling up on the couch beside his people. Despite his size and playful side, he settles beautifully in the home. He enjoys chew toys, rotates through the toy basket, happily entertains himself, and is very capable of winding down after exercise or play. His foster describes him as smart, eager, and quick to learn, and he already kennels on command at home. He rides well in the car too, calmly hopping in and relaxing for the trip. Now, Buddy is still a young, large dog, and occasionally that youthful enthusiasm shows up in the form of “I would very much like to play RIGHT NOW.” His foster notes that he can sometimes be a little slow to pick up on their older dog’s “leave me alone” signals, not in a concerning way, just in that lovable young-dog way where the brain occasionally takes a second to catch up to the body. Overall though, his social skills are genuinely very nice. Buddy would thrive with an adopter who understands large breed dogs and has room in both their home and lifestyle for a young dog who still needs continued guidance and structure. What we are seeing right now is a well-socialized, stable young dog, with likely livestock guardian genetics, so adopters should be thoughtful of this as he matures. Right now he is wonderfully social and easygoing, and continued positive exposure, leadership, and appropriate boundaries will help him continue growing into the best version of himself. He could potentially live in a larger apartment with an active adopter committed to daily outings and exercise, but truthfully, Buddy would probably be happiest with space to stretch his legs, a yard to roam, and people who enjoy including their dog in everyday life. He has done well around cats in controlled settings, though we would recommend dog-savvy cats and thoughtful introductions. Older kids or teens would likely be a lovely fit given his size and youthful enthusiasm. His foster family cannot say it with more heart when they share how wonderfully he has blossomed into a deeply affectionate, social, happy dog who clearly loves being part of a family. Honestly, Lab too! Whatever combination created him, the result is one remarkably balanced, beautiful dog with a snowy white coat, a fluffy curled tail, and a presence that immediately puts people at ease. His personality is what truly sets him apart. Jetson isn't busy looking for excitement. He's content simply being part of whatever life is happening around him. If contractors are working on your house, congratulations, they've just been assigned an honorary project manager. Jetson will politely supervise from a comfortable distance, quietly checking in on everyone's progress while making sure the operation continues running smoothly. Guests are greeted warmly, deliveries are acknowledged, squirrels are respectfully monitored, and every so often he'll take another lap around the yard as though he's completing another item on his very important daily checklist. Despite his guardian instincts, Jetson is incredibly gentle and social. He gets along beautifully with other dogs of all sizes and carries himself with an easy confidence that helps everyone around him rest easy. He also tested wonderfully with cats, showing the same calm, respectful attitude that seems to define every interaction he has. This is a dog who seems to believe that there is very little in life worth overreacting to. For a dog with such an impressive presence, Jetson has an incredibly soft heart. He's a true gentle giant who loves leaning in for affection, welcomes treats with the most careful, polite mouth, and is always ready for a little extra love, and he rides beautifully in the car- making him an easy companion for errands, road trips, or afternoon adventures. One of his favorite discoveries is the pool, where he's more than happy to cool off before returning to his very important supervisory duties. His confidence never feels overwhelming. Instead, it creates an incredible sense of steadiness. He is a dog who becomes the dependable center of the home without ever asking for the spotlight. As with all rescue dogs, his age and breed- possibly a Pyrenese/Lab mix, is simply our best educated guess. Lasso’s foster family has shared that he is house trained, crate trained, wonderful with children, and settled into home life beautifully. He's become the perfect playmate for dogs who enjoy an active wrestling buddy, but he's just as happy to settle into everyday family life once playtime winds down. His foster describes him as an incredibly easy and fun dog to have around, and that's a phrase that comes up again and again when talking about him. One of our favorite things about Lasso is how naturally social he is. New people are greeted with happy curiosity and polite manners. New dogs are welcomed with the same easy confidence. He enjoys toys tremendously and, even better, has lovely sharing skills that make him an enjoyable companion during group play. There's an easy rhythm to the way he moves through life that makes him fit comfortably into whatever the day happens to hold. Feline friends welcome too! Lasso met our house cat and all signs point to him being understanding that cats are to be respected- not chased or played with. When the zoomies are over, you'll often find him shadowing his people or happily following the kids around the yard, content simply being part of whatever they're doing. He doesn't need to be the center of attention. He just wants to be included in the fun, and that quiet desire to be part of his family's adventures makes him especially endearing. Lasso would LOVE a home with another playful dog because he genuinely enjoys having a canine buddy/playmate, but more than anything, he's looking for an active family that appreciates a cheerful companion who is always ready for the next adventure, whether that's a walk through the neighborhood, an afternoon tossing toys, or discovering a new watering hole to splash around in.
