Except chickens!   HISTORY : Max (FKA Cottontail) was the biggest pup in Bunny’s litter and was raised using the Puppy Protocol with proper socialization. He was adopted by a wonderful family with other dogs, cats, kids and a farmette with chickens. He went to an office with the owners every day and enjoyed time with visitors between naps. Max enjoyed playtime until he met the few chickens that he could catch and play a bit rough with. The adopters thought it best to return him to us to find him another home.      PERSONALITY : Max is friendly, laid back, curious, brave and loving. He is very food motivated so he would be easy to train for any advanced tasks. He knows sit, paw, come (in his own time). He goes to a dog friendly office every day and is not reactive, sleeps, greets with a tail wag and is learning not to jump up and hug new friends.  FAVORITE ACTIVITIES : Meeting new friends, chewing all types of gullet sticks, antlers, kong, filled bones, treats and surgically removing squeakers from stuffies between naps.   MEDICAL ISSUES : NONE. Up to date on all vaccines.  Neutered, rear deux claws removed. Max has been exposed to all types of proteins with no issues. Like most dogs, consistent food keep his tummy happy.  He eats 2x per day. He is not a picky eater.  WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST KIND OF HOME : He would be best around his people and another dog. He has manners and is a gentleman but still needs some structure and guidance. He is still a puppy but a mature one. He would love to be active and have a job to do. Boredom is his nemesis. Not a fan of the noises of the dryer or the cremel on his nails but, he would get used to it with more experience. He is shedding a bit now in the spring but has not been a big shedder like his Pyrenees momma.   Meet Lady Anne, a stunning 4-year-old Great Pyrenees whose story is one of resilience, devotion, and unconditional love.   When it came time to give birth, Lady Anne did what any devoted mother would do—she searched for a place she believed would keep her babies safe. She chose a quiet spot beneath a shed, only for that refuge to become anything but safe. Thankfully, a compassionate neighbor recognized the danger and reached out for help. Critter Cavalry stepped in just in time, giving Lady Anne and her nine newborn puppies the second chance they so desperately needed.   Placed with an experienced foster family, Lady Anne slowly learned that she and her puppies were finally safe. At first, she was understandably protective, but with patience and kindness she allowed her foster family to help her. Beneath her thick coat were painful mats, ticks, and fleas, and she needed a gentle grooming and a trimmed belly so her puppies could nurse comfortably. Through it all, her only concern was her babies.   For seven weeks, Lady Anne rarely left their side. As the puppies grew, she would ask to step out of their pen, only to lie beside the fence, faithfully watching over them. Day and night, she stood guard, making sure every puppy was safe. Even after they were weaned, she continued her watch. It wasn't until each puppy had gone to a loving home and the pen stood empty that Lady Anne finally walked into the air-conditioned house, curled up, and truly rested.   Her watch was finally over.   But Great Pyrenees are born with a purpose, and Lady Anne simply found a new one. She now happily patrols the fence lines, checking on the livestock with quiet confidence before making her rounds to visit the very dogs she once chased away from her puppies. Today, they're all friends.   Lady Anne can be a little reserved when meeting new people, taking her time to decide who she can trust. Once she knows your intentions are kind, however, she gives you her whole heart. She'll greet you with joyful full-body wiggles, lean into your affection, and 'talk' to you in her soft, gentle Pyrenees whines that seem to say just how happy she is to be by your side. She is cat-friendly, easygoing, gentle, and deeply loyal—the kind of dog who doesn't just become a pet but a steadfast companion. Lady Anne has already proven what an incredible guardian she is. Meet Knox! Knox is a 4-month-old Mini Bernese Mountain Dog with a big personality and LOTS of puppy energy! He absolutely loves people, is incredibly friendly, and is always ready to play, explore, and be part of whatever is going on. Knox is still very much a puppy and is learning his manners. When he gets really excited or a little unsure, he may have a small accident during greetings. This is something that is common in young puppies and will likely improve as he gains confidence and matures. Knox is neutered, up to date on his vaccines, and ready to find a family who will continue giving him the structure, exercise, and training an energetic young pup needs. 🌟 Starr 🌟 This beautiful 3 y/o girl came to us from a commercial breeder. She is about 32 pounds. She was said to be a minibernadoodle although we definitely see some Australian Shepherd in that gorgeous face! Whatever her breed mix, one thing is certain: Starr is incredibly special. When Starr first entered rescue, the world — especially humans — was scary. She simply hadn’t learned that people could be safe, gentle and kind. But over the last several months, Starr has made so much progress. She now walks beautifully on a leash, stays close to her foster mom and wants to be part of whatever is going on around her. She loves stuffies, bones, food and the company of playful, confident dogs. She has even met a cat and did great! 🐶🐱 Her biggest hurdle is still learning to fully trust people. Starr may shy away from direct eye contact, quick movements or someone reaching toward her. She isn’t going to greet her adopter by jumping into their arms. But if you give her time, patience and the freedom to come to you, you’ll start seeing glimpses of the dog hiding underneath all that uncertainty. Hi! I'm Farrah, five and a half months old,11 lb. female merle mini Bernedoodle. I am a shy gentle girl, but every day my "puppynality" is blossoming and I am discovering how to become a playful, mischievous puppy...I'm a work in progress. As I get more comfortable in my surroundings, there may be puppy shenanigans in my future. Most days I spend my time lounging on the sofa observing life around me, though I am jumping off more and more to retrieve and play with my toys and occasionally enjoy a random, surprising puppy zoomie. Bedtime is spent in my foster parent's bed where I sleep through the night. By my choice, I don't voluntarily go in a crate, however when my foster parent needs to put me in for my safety when she leaves the house, I settle in with no fuss. The yard is one of my favorite places. Though I am not an overly energetic puppy, I do enjoy sniffing and exploring. My quirky puppy self is evolving every day. Also, walks on a leash have now become something I like though I may occasionally put on the brakes or decide I don't like the direction in which we are headed. A fenced in yard is something I would like to have in my new home as I do love exploring on my own. I have also decided I love having a big golden retriever brother. At first, I didn't know what to make of him. Now I like following him around, occasionally snuggling with him and most recently, some actual playtime with him. I think I'd really like having another pup in the house with me when I am adopted. Though I approach people with some apprehension, I do enjoy human snuggles-I just like to be the one who initiates the snuggles! Unlike some mill rescues, I am comfortable with both men and women. Cats?! They are fascinating and intriguing and I wouldn't mind at all having a feline companion. Children? I haven't spent time with children. Loud noises and quick movements startle me, so perhaps I'd do best with older dog savvy children. Potting training is going well. With regular trips outside, I have no accidents in the house. I do well in the car...just curl up and relax as I am chauffeured. I will require regular grooming including combing, brushing and trims. I am spayed, UTD on vaccines, microchipped and am being fostered in Berks County.
