Story
Blue is a 5th gen Wolf Hybrid and a pretty princess. She's only 33 pounds, the runt of a runt of a runt. Eager to please and overzealous about it. She likes cuddles... for about five minutes. LOVES belly scratches. She's an adventure dog. She wants to go places, and she will tell you all her thoughts on the way, during the adventure, and the whole way back. She's a talker. She has few manners, but she will sit and occasionally lay down. She loves water. Playing in it mostly. She's not much of a player outside of that. She doesn't care for toys, but she does care for her people. She needs to be the only dog in the home. With the right amount of work, she can get along with other dogs, but she's far more behaved and happy on her own where she can monopolize your time. And she is aggressive with new dogs she does not know. But she would be the perfect dog for a trucker, someone on the road a lot, or someone looking for a travel companion.

Story
Meet Bluegill! This beautiful girl is sure to steal your heart. Her and her husky sister came into the Osawatomie Pound together. She is extremely friendly and lovable! She is potty trained and has lots of doggie friends and loves to play all day. She would love an active family or fur siblings. Because she is so social, Bluegill must go to a home with other dogs so she always has friend(s) and a non-apartment home is preferred as well. She is true to her husky nature and loves to talk, needs regular grooming, and can jump a 6' fence (but very rarely chooses to). She isn't a huge fan of being kenneled and would need a husky-proof kennel which we could send with her with a donation from an adopter.September 18, 2023, 12:04 am

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 2-4 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff.  Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.   September 28, 2023, 8:58 am
