Story
I inquired Koda at 7 months, he will be 3 years old April 20th. He is a very energetic dog , he enjoys running, being outside, and the cold. We want him to go somewhere with a big yard, he loves going on walks and enjoys going on car rides! He is an indoor dog and kennel trained. I unfortunately can’t keep him due to having a new born. We noticed his behavior change being more jumpy and lunges towards the baby when she is playing or screaming. We have tried correcting him and haven’t had success. Unfortunately, she will be crawling soon and don’t want to risk anything.

Story
We show our dogs by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting Quill, please first fill out our online adoption application at kcpaws.org. Quill's adoption fee will be $175. link to application: https://form.jotform.com/230296113596155 PLEASE READ BIOGRAPHY BEFORE APPLYING Meet Quill, he is a 2-4 year old Husky/Akita Mix who came to us after spending most of his life on a chain. He has loved getting to live life to the fullest since coming to our rescue and enjoys his daily walks and runs and playing fetch in the yard with staff.  Quill has warmed up well to the staff here at KC PAWS and has particularly bonded with the manager there, it is clear that once he is bonded and trust someone he is a friendly and affectionate dog. However due to his past he sometimes is weary of strangers approaching him. He is not the type of dog that would like being in large crowds or having strangers come up to pet him during walks. He will also need his potential adopter to be willing to do multiple visits with him before adoption. Quill has met a few female dogs that he has gotten along well with, however he does not like to interact with other male dogs especially if they are his size or larger. He would do best with a female dog around his size. He does need a home with no small dogs, or cats. He would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children as he does not like for people to be in his face leaning over him and children on his level would be frightening for him. Quill is a very active, high energy dog and LOVES to run. He would be an excellent match for someone looking for a running, hiking, adventure buddy. Quill is kennel trained and keeps his run at the shelter clean. He also loves to go for car rides. Quill needs an experienced dog owner who will be willing to really work on training and socializing. He is not an appropriate fit for a first time dog owner or someone who has no previous training experience.   May 20, 2024, 10:50 am

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing for one of our rescue partners Allen county animal rescue facility. They are a rural animal control shelter near Iola KS. Many dogs are brought to their facility after being found as strays, dumped, surrendered, or brought in by the city. However, because they are in such a rural town, they have a very small pool of adopters and have a hard time finding homes for the dogs in the shelter. Our promise as their rescue partner is that should someone apply through us, we will handle any transportation needed to get the dog to their forever home, we will assist with home visits, dog intros and anything needed to help get these dogs out of the shelter and into loving homes. Please fill out our online dog adoption application if you are interested in adopting this pet. Age 7 years , Weight:60 lbs, Male Fenrir is a sophisticated gentleman who loves to speak in his wolfie language to share his opinions with everyone he meets. He enjoys the company of other calm dogs, he doesn't much care for puppy shenanigans or cats for that matter. He has met and done well with young children and is all around a really great guy with a lot of love to give. He is quite dapper and has an adorable trot when he is happy  and we don't know why he's been passed over for so long. If you think you can be Fenrir's forever family, please fill out our online dog adoption application at kcpaws.org.May 20, 2024, 10:50 am

Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption.  Katmai is heartworm positive and looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! She is 2 years old, spayed, 44 pounds, and up to date on all other vetting. Despite her past, Katmai is the sweetest girl on the planet that is full of love! Katmai was found living outside with her 6 puppies on the coldest day of the year! There were multiple reports saying she had been in the area for a while and that the 6 puppies were not her first litter. We quickly jumped to action to get them safe and warm and on their journey to furever homes. The puppies got all their required vetting and went off to their happily ever afters, but poor, sweet Katmai still has another obstacle to overcome in her heartworm treatment. Treating heartworms is a lengthy and expensive process and we are committed to helping her get rid of them! However, she would recover much faster in a home environment rather than our facility. She is sad and stressed in the shelter as she's not used to being cooped up around lots of other animals. She would love nothing more than to have a human to snuggle and adventure with. If you can find it in your heart to help this girl, please fill out an application at kcpaws.org!May 20, 2024, 10:50 am

Story
Meet Blue Bell--Oh, the eyes! Those blue eyes can look right to your soul! This girl cannot be fooled. She is smart and can be chill or full of spunk depending on her mood. But she is a people pleaser, for sure! She has learned to sit patiently until her food is served. She likes to play with her toys, but especially enjoys her foster sister's toys as that seems to pull her sister into playing with her. She knows exactly what to do to engage her playmate! Blue Bell is getting close to being fully house trained and learning to sit for treats. While she can be vocal, her protest usually doesn't last long, and she settles quickly. She does well on a leash and loves to have a chew toy around to keep her occupied. Blue Bell will come with age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, microchipped and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt Blue Bell today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
While she may have been the smallest in her litter, no one is gonna get the best of Lola! She stands up for herself when needed. She will make sure to not be overlooked. Her personality is big and she has the sweetest spirit! The name Lola seemed fitting because "Whatever Lola wants Lola gets! Her ears will tell a story by themselves as you can see the wheels in her head turning by watching her ears move with her thoughts. While her ears are usually floppy, there are times when one ears stands straight up. Lola is very food motivated and tries so hard to be the best girl. Once she is done playing, she will crash as close to you as possible. She knows to sit upon command, but a treat will be sure to solicit a sitting posture! She has house training almost fully figured out, making sure to take care of her business outside at first chance. Lola doesn't waste any time because that leaves more time for playing and, more importantly, eating. She does well on a leash and likes to go along wherever you go. Lola is sure to make someone a loyal companion as she will always greet you with love and kisses! Lola will come with age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, microchipped and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250. Apply to adopt Lola today at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LUCK/Dog or at www.lucky13rescue.org.
