Story
Drax is a very playful boy but does get separation anxiety when left at home alone. He loves running laps in the back yard and playing with any toy that squeaks. He's around 3 years old and does well with smaller dogs but not so well with dogs his size. He is moderately house trained. If left alone for long periods or if a lot of company is over and he is overstimulated he might have an accident. He loves butt scratches and belly rubs.

Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Katmai is heartworm positive and looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! She is 2 years old, spayed, 44 pounds, and up to date on all other vetting. Despite her past, Katmai is the sweetest girl on the planet that is full of love! Katmai was found living outside with her 6 puppies on the coldest day of the year! There were multiple reports saying she had been in the area for a while and that the 6 puppies were not her first litter. We quickly jumped to action to get them safe and warm and on their journey to furever homes. The puppies got all their required vetting and went off to their happily ever afters, but poor, sweet Katmai still has another obstacle to overcome in her heartworm treatment. Treating heartworms is a lengthy and expensive process and we are committed to helping her get rid of them! However, she would recover much faster in a home environment rather than our facility. She is sad and stressed in the shelter as she's not used to being cooped up around lots of other animals. She would love nothing more than to have a human to snuggle and adventure with. If you can find it in your heart to help this girl, please fill out an application at kcpaws.org!

Story
Meet Cersei! 10 Month Old • Siberian Husky • Gorgeous Blue Eyes • Nearly Perfect Pup 💙 Miss Cersei was found wandering the streets all alone, and to make things tougher, someone had shaved her — so her beautiful Husky coat is still growing back in. She’s now safe in a foster home and learning how to “Husky” from four resident Siberian Huskies who are showing her the ropes — what’s okay, what’s not, and how to just be a happy, confident pup. This girl has been amazing in the home: 🌟 Zero accidents in the house or in her kennel 🌟 No chewing or getting into things she shouldn’t 🌟 Smart as can be — already knows “sit” and “kisses” 🌟 Sleeps through the night in her kennel (with maybe a quick howl before settling back down) 🌟 Also loves sleeping in bed if that’s allowed in her future home As a typical Siberian Husky, Cersei is a high-energy working breed who thrives with both physical and mental stimulation. She’ll need an adopter ready for daily exercise, engagement, and enrichment. Since Huskies are known escape artists, a secure 6-ft fenced yard is required. Her ideal home: • Someone familiar with the Husky breed or willing to do the research • An active family who enjoys outdoor adventures • A home with another playful dog would be a huge bonus — she loves having canine friends • Someone who appreciates a snuggly, sweet, silly puppy who just wants to be part of the pack Cersei is pretty darn close to perfect. She’s loving, funny, people-oriented, great with other dogs, and she has that classic Husky sparkle. If you’re ready for a sweetheart with energy, brains, and endless cuddles… Cersei might just be your girl. 💙🐾 ✨ All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. If you have other dogs in your home, we require that they meet our dog prior to adoption. 💲 Adoption fee: $225 📍 Once you apply, the foster will contact you to schedule a meet and greet. 👉 Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Story
Lee • Siberian Husky • 4.5 Years Old • ~65 lbs Lee is a striking red-and-white, blue-eyed Siberian Husky with a big personality and an adventurous spirit. After a rough start in a multi-dog home, he’s learning family life and is thriving with structure and consistency. Lee is affectionate, gently goofy, and very people-oriented. He loves being close to his humans and enjoys engaging with them throughout the day. He is housebroken, though occasional accidents may occur as he continues to adjust after long periods of indoor confinement earlier in life. An athletic and energetic boy, Lee would do best with an active person or family who enjoys walking, running, and backyard activities—especially Frisbee. He loves to play fetch and has learned to bring toys back immediately, release them on command, and recall reliably. He can jump an impressive 5–6 feet, making him an excellent Frisbee partner. Lee knows sit, down, wait, paw, release, and “relax,” and is currently working on leash manners and the heel command. He is very smart and eager to learn. Lee is strong and needs a confident handler. He does well with respectful children (best with kids 10+) and other dogs, but no cats or small animals due to prey drive. True to his breed, Lee is intelligent, vocal, and an escape artist. He has cleared 5–6 ft fences and requires a secure yard with a tall, solid fence and a heavy-duty crate when left alone. Lee will thrive in an experienced, active Husky home. In the right environment, he will be a loyal, fun, and loving companion. ✨ All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations.
