Story
Meet Timber! This handsome Husky has won over even those who weren’t sure about the breed—his foster family describes him as the Husky who changed their mind about Huskies! Timber is incredibly sweet and gentle, making him a wonderful fit for a family. He’s been great with the foster’s 6-year-old granddaughter, and the feeling is clearly mutual. His foster family says if they didn’t already have two dogs, they’d be keeping him themselves. A well-mannered and well-trained companion, Timber knows basic commands like sit, stay, shake, and come. He kennels easily, walks nicely on a leash, and is fully house-trained. He also loves car rides and enjoys spending time with people—especially following the foster dad out to the shop to hang out. Timber gets along well with other dogs and has a great sense of when to engage in play and when to walk away. While fireworks aren't his favorite, storms don’t seem to bother him at all. In the words of his foster: “This is a GREAT dog!” Timber will come fully vetted, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $100. Story
We are a matched based adoption agency, if you see a dog in our program in which you are interested in adopting, please fill out our online application at kcpaws.org and one of our adoptions counselors will be in touch once your application has been screened. Please note that we do require dogs to meet all members of the family including existing pets in the home before finalizing during your in home adoption. Katmai is heartworm positive and looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home! She is 2 years old, spayed, 44 pounds, and up to date on all other vetting. Despite her past, Katmai is the sweetest girl on the planet that is full of love! Katmai was found living outside with her 6 puppies on the coldest day of the year! There were multiple reports saying she had been in the area for a while and that the 6 puppies were not her first litter. We quickly jumped to action to get them safe and warm and on their journey to furever homes. The puppies got all their required vetting and went off to their happily ever afters, but poor, sweet Katmai still has another obstacle to overcome in her heartworm treatment. Treating heartworms is a lengthy and expensive process and we are committed to helping her get rid of them! However, she would recover much faster in a home environment rather than our facility. She is sad and stressed in the shelter as she's not used to being cooped up around lots of other animals. She would love nothing more than to have a human to snuggle and adventure with. If you can find it in your heart to help this girl, please fill out an application at kcpaws.org!

Story
Lee • Siberian Husky • 4.5 Years Old • ~65 lbs Lee is a striking red-and-white, blue-eyed Siberian Husky with a big personality and an adventurous spirit. After a rough start in a multi-dog home, he’s learning what family life looks like and is thriving with structure and consistency. Lee is affectionate, gently goofy, and very people-oriented. He loves being close to his humans and will happily keep you entertained. He is housebroken, though occasional accidents may happen as he continues to adjust after long periods of indoor confinement earlier in life. This athletic boy has lots of energy and loves walks, running, and exploration. He is very strong, so he needs a handler who can manage his strength. Lee does well with respectful children (best with kids 10+) and other dogs, but no cats due to a strong prey drive. Lee knows sit, down, wait, and paw and continues to work on leash manners. He loves toys (especially squeaky ones), duck jerky treats, and even shelled peanuts. As a true Husky, Lee is intelligent, vocal, and an escape artist. He has cleared 5–6 ft fences and requires a secure yard with a tall, solid fence. When left alone, he needs a puppy-proofed home and a heavy-duty crate, as he can counter-surf and escape standard crates. He’s improving and learning that his people always come back. Lee will thrive with an active person or family experienced with Huskies. He is not suited for an elderly household. In the right home, Lee will be a loyal, fun, and loving companion. ✨ All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. If you have other dogs in your home, we require that they meet our dog prior to adoption. 💲 Adoption fee: $225 📍 Once you apply, the foster will contact you to schedule a meet and greet. 👉 Apply here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Story
Meet Cersei! 10 Month Old • Siberian Husky • Gorgeous Blue Eyes • Nearly Perfect Pup 💙 Miss Cersei was found wandering the streets all alone, and to make things tougher, someone had shaved her — so her beautiful Husky coat is still growing back in. She’s now safe in a foster home and learning how to “Husky” from four resident Siberian Huskies who are showing her the ropes — what’s okay, what’s not, and how to just be a happy, confident pup. This girl has been amazing in the home: 🌟 Zero accidents in the house or in her kennel 🌟 No chewing or getting into things she shouldn’t 🌟 Smart as can be — already knows “sit” and “kisses” 🌟 Sleeps through the night in her kennel (with maybe a quick howl before settling back down) 🌟 Also loves sleeping in bed if that’s allowed in her future home As a typical Siberian Husky, Cersei is a high-energy working breed who thrives with both physical and mental stimulation. She’ll need an adopter ready for daily exercise, engagement, and enrichment. Since Huskies are known escape artists, a secure 6-ft fenced yard is required. Her ideal home: • Someone familiar with the Husky breed or willing to do the research • An active family who enjoys outdoor adventures • A home with another playful dog would be a huge bonus — she loves having canine friends • Someone who appreciates a snuggly, sweet, silly puppy who just wants to be part of the pack Cersei is pretty darn close to perfect. She’s loving, funny, people-oriented, great with other dogs, and she has that classic Husky sparkle. If you’re ready for a sweetheart with energy, brains, and endless cuddles… Cersei might just be your girl. 💙🐾 ✨ All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Story
Alexei is a friendly 3 year old husky mix. He recently came in as a stray, so we don`t know his history. So far he`s shown us what a nice guy he is! Alexei knows sit already. This good boy is so ready to be in a loving forever home! We are heading into his favorite time of year as the weather cools off - wouldn`t it be great to have a yard to enjoy it in? Or even just a walking buddy will work; he`s not picky! But why wait for that when you can find out for yourself?! Bring the whole fam to meet him! Alexei has been a little selective about his friends in dog play group. He would love to meet any future canine siblings before going home. As far as cats go, he is a typical husky and would probably do best in a home without cats or small animalsHe recently got a well-deserved break from the shelter on a Dog Day Out, and here is what they said: `Alexei is a very friendly, confident, and trusting boy. He opened up to us right away and was never shy when strangers came up to greet him. He walked nicely on the leash and didn’t pull much. He knows the sit command well—especially when there’s a treat involved! He also was very well behaved when we went to a restaurant patio to enjoy the nice weather. We had a great time with him.`It is recommended Alexei is in an adult only home, or if there are kiddos the older the better. Alexei is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for a loving forever home! His adoption fee has been waived!
