Story
Meet Floyd 🐾 There are some dogs that just get you — the kind that make you laugh every single day without even trying. Floyd is that dog. He's a Husky/Shepherd/Border Collie mix turned 1 year old, which means he's got the brains of a Border Collie, the soul of a Husky, and just enough derp to keep things interesting. He's up to date on vaccines, neutered, and loves both kids and dogs with his whole heart. Floyd's hobbies include: sleeping with his tongue fully extended (a masterpiece), watching The Dog Whisperer like it's required coursework, long walks at the park, and occasionally — when formally invited — singing the songs of his people. He's the kind of dog who makes strangers stop and smile. The honest stuff, because Floyd deserves honesty: He has some crate anxiety. He goes in willingly to relax or eat, but when he's home alone, he gets stressed and has actually chipped a tooth trying to get out — and I refuse to let him hurt himself anymore. He roams the house now and does really well, especially after a good walk before you head out. He's on trazodone from the vet to help him settle, and he's still growing into himself. If you plan to crate, a trainer recommended an impact crate or solid-bar style. Also — he's fine around cats on walks, but the first time he met a kitten he had no idea what it was and gave chase. A cat-free home would probably be his sweet spot. A yard to run in? Friends to play with? That's Floyd's dream life. As for me — I'd love nothing more than an open adoption. I'll dog-sit whenever you travel. I just want him to be happy and loved, and I know he will be, because he's already everything to the right person. He's been through a lot in his first year, and he deserves someone who'll go all in for him. Questions? Please ask. And please share — Floyd's people are out there. 🐕

Story
Freddy is a 3 year-old male Husky mix. Freddy came in with his brother Draco, but he is not good with other animals and will need to be the only animal in his home. He loves his toys, and his playful spirit will keep you entertained for hours! Freddy walks very well on a leash, and even better on a harness! He likes going on walks, but he will need to stop you a couple times because petting him is more important than anything else. Freddy is a very simple dog who knows what he wants in life, spray cheese, blankets, and a loving home. He isn't very photogenic, but we swear he is even cuter in person. If you don't believe us come check him out yourself! Dogs are available to meet before their adoption date. The Dog Shelter's adoption fee is $64 (cash or check). All dogs come with DHPP and Bordetella vaccines, microchipped, a current year dog license, and a certificate to be spayed or neutered (The Dog Shelter pays for it). If it is an owner surrender dog, more vaccine information may be provided. Our hours are Monday thru Friday 10AM-12:30PM and 1PM-4PM and Saturdays 10AM to 2PM. You must be present to adopt and have a current approved adoption application.

Story
Draco is a 2 yr old Male Husky. He is very friendly. But does not do well with other animals. He was adopted and returned due to not being housebroken. Draco is probably one of the most affectionate dogs you will ever meet. He would need a home without other animals and would need training on the housebreaking and basic manners. Draco is the most affectionate boy there is, he will sit at your feet forever as long as you are rubbing his belly or rubbing his ears. He looks as if he is always smiling. Draco has 2 favorite squeaky pig toys that he likes to carry around. Come in and meet this handsome always smiling boy today. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Truffle is a 4-year-old love bug with the sweetest soul and the kind of face you’ll fall for instantly—just one look into those eyes and you’re hooked! This beautiful girl is all about connection, affection, and being close to her people. She can be a little shy at first, but give her a moment and some gentle reassurance, and you’ll quickly see her warm, loving personality shine through. Once she feels comfortable, Truffle truly blossoms and becomes an affectionate, devoted companion. She would absolutely love a home with a yard where she can roll around in the grass, soak up the sunshine, and happily chew on a bone during a relaxing afternoon. It’s her idea of pure bliss! At 4 years old, she’s the perfect balance of playful and settled—past the puppy chaos but still full of life and love to give. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will shower you with affection and be your constant companion, Truffle is your girl. Thank you for checking out our wonderful orphans. We try to post videos for each pet so you can really get to know them. Story
Meet Chaos!Chaos is a handsome, 10-year-old Husky gentleman weighing in at 57 pounds, with a soulful gaze and a quiet, thoughtful nature. True to his name, he’s not actually chaotic at all—he’s more of a slow-burn kind of guy who prefers to take his time getting to know new people. Once he feels safe and comfortable, Chaos shows his sweet, loyal side and forms deep bonds with his people. As you can see in his adorable video, once he knows you he is a bouncy and playful boy who loves to make the most of playtime!Because Chaos can be sensitive, he’s looking for a calm, patient home that understands that trust takes time. If there are kids in the home, we’re asking that they be 16 years or older, as Chaos does best with teens who can respect his space and read his cues. When it comes to other dogs, Chaos is still figuring out appropriate play and social skills. He may do well with a laid-back, chill canine companion who won’t overwhelm him and can help show him the ropes. Chaos is not able to live with cats. Chaos would thrive with someone who appreciates a quieter companion and is willing to let him move at his own pace. If you’re looking for a loyal friend and believe the best relationships are built on patience and trust, Chaos might just be your perfect match. Stop in at The Humane Society of Summit County today to meet him!

Story
Say hello to Atlas! He is a 1.5 year old Husky mix who weighs about 59 pounds. Atlas is a handsome fellow, but he can be quite sensitive in nature. He arrived in our care after being tied to a tree abandoned, so he is still learning to trust new people and new places. Once he knows you, he is a sweet and snuggly boy who loves sticking close to his favorite people. He may not enjoy going on adventures with you or exploring outside of his comfort zone, but with his favorite people he is a total lovebug. Atlas seems to enjoy other dogs and thrives in an environment where he can have a canine companion to help build his confidence. We would strongly encourage a slow introduction between Atlas and any canine friends to ensure his success in the future. Due to his sensitivity, if there are kids in his forever home he would do best with kids ages 13 and older that can give him space while he`s becoming comfortable. Atlas does not show potential to live with cats. If Atlas looks like the pup for you, stop in today to meet this handsome boy!
