Story
3 yr old white M Siberian Husky Notes from his foster:  Chip is a very loving and intelligent. What an amazing dog! He has so much love to give, yet at the same time he has high energy! The husky traits are definitely there like talking to you, of which is  moaning and somewhat of a soft howl. His new adopters should be aware of what those traits are and with any negative ones he is trainable. But it needs to be a constant reminder to him, he is very trainable as an intelligent pup could be! He loves laying on the couch next to his human. He'll either lay his head on you or lay with half of his body on you, which means he wants loving!   The shelter estimates Chip to be 3 years, I challenge his age to be at least a year    younger. I've looked at his teeth, evaluated his boundless energy, and when playing with other dogs, he acts like a pup.   He does well with indoor cats, but he sometimes goes up and sniffs them like he's checking to make sure they are ok.  If he is outside and one runs away he will chase it -supervision is a must   It's not a good idea to have small animals like rabbits, guinea pigs or hamsters. Due to the huskey's high prey drive! Chip would be great in an active home that loves the outdoors and is busy with outdoors activities with him, like hiking or swimming. He loves water so much that he plays in his water bowl and likes to bite at the water coming out of the hose. Thankfully he's learning to do it outside in his water bowl only. The daily walks which    he needs, he has been doing extremely well on not pulling, except at the beginning or if another owner/dog is walking by. He'll pull because he is very excited to meet them. I have him sit and calm him down until they have gone by. He loves car rides to a fault. If a neighbor gets in their car and starts it up he will continue running around the car until you call him off. But keep attention on him because he's known to run after the car, like let me in, you forgot me!   Chip would do best in a cold weather environment. We haven't had time to take him to the snow but I can imagine him loving it! He loves to go out on the deck late at night. He lays with his nose in the air, wide awake enjoying the cold night. Then he comes in and either jumps on the bed partially laying on me. Or if I'm rolled    over towards the middle of the bed, he'll lay on the bed along the edge. Always waiting to be petted. And yes, we do have other pets but once he moved in, he took over everything! If something is on the floor and becomes missing whether it's a dog item or an item of his human, Chip has most likely picked it up and moved it somewhere else. He does know how to share. He is not food aggressive, will let my labradoodle eat out of his bowl with him. And he shares all of the other pets toys he took over. When all the pets are resting or it is bedtime, his high energy is gone and he calms down to a resting state, sleeping too.   He does need a home with another younger high energy dog to play with, my 2 15 year old Yorkies are not playmates. My 5 year oldlabradoodle adopted as apuppy    during COVID did not learn how to play with dogs. She sure knows how to play with Chip whether she wants to or not. She always runs out of energy way before he does. Chip might even bless a family with another high energy dog. They will wear each other out. And eventhough my Yorkies don't play he has learned to leave them alone occasionally forgetting and dangles a toy over their head as they show their growling teeth, so he moves on.   Chip is very friendly with people one of the only things he hasn't learned is not to jump up on the person. He's so excited to meet someone new,  that to get their attention he thinks they needs to be eye to eye. Kids he has had little exposure. He will do well with kids just needs an adult there to watch over until he calms down with his     excitement. He is also vey dog friendly unless the other dog turns aggressive on him he will respond back to correct Most of all he becomes very attached to his humans and loves them MOST of all !!!   ##2559846##
