Story
Meet Uncle Buck, a lively terrier with boundless energy and a heart of gold. At 15 pounds, he may be small in stature, but he makes up for it with his big personality. Now, let's address the elephant in the room—Uncle Buck's enthusiasm is off the charts! He's what you might call "OMG" levels of energetic, and he's not afraid to show it. His excitement sometimes manifests in mouthiness and jumping. In fact, he once managed to snag a handful of bangs during a particularly exuberant greeting. But hey, at least he's consistent—whether it's grabbing hair or jumping up for attention, Uncle Buck is always ready to make an entrance. Uncle Buck is a bit of a resource guarder when it comes to his bones, but he's not unreasonable about it. A little growl here, a strategic relocation there—it's all part of his process. However, it's worth noting that this behavior might not be suitable for households with young children who might not understand his boundaries. Despite his quirks, Uncle Buck is a charmer through and through. He's incredibly intelligent and loves nothing more than being around people. With a little patience and some consistent training, he's sure to pick up manners in no time. Plus, his impeccable bite inhibition means that while his antics may leave a mark (or a few bruises), they're more likely to result in scratches than anything else. In essence, Uncle Buck is a spirited terrier with a heart as big as his personality. He may demand attention with barks and snaps, but beneath it all, he's just a pup looking for love and companionship. So, if you're ready for a lively companion who will keep you on your toes (literally), then Uncle Buck might just be the perfect match for you. ##2014773##

Nick is a sweet, fun, pup who loves life as well as people and other dogs! He is new to The Rescue Crew so please check back as we learn more about this little cutie pie!    If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about The Rescue Crew adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our Adoption Process page on our official website.  All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.  The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. ##2085317##

Story
Helloooo world!  My name is Betty and I am a playful, uncoordinated little fluffer of a dog!  I gallop when I run, I take flying leaps into your chest for snuggles, and I rub my face on the floor when I play with my toys. Speaking of toys, do you have any?  Because I love them all!  My foster mama is teaching me fetch and I think that’s the BEST.  Have you played that before?  So.Fun!  But give me any toy and I will jump for joy! My foster mom says I’m still working on my leash manners because I “sniff and stroll”, whatever that means.   I guess lollygagging is not part of her plan and I want to smell everything!  Apparently no one told her to live in the moment and smell the roses.  Because THAT is what I’m doing!  I’m also smelling the tree…and the sticks…every rock…that leaf in the wind…ooo look a butterfly!  I really like it when she takes me for car rides.  My ears flap in the wind and that makes me so happy!  PS:  I also like to sniff the air.  So fresh! I overhear my foster mom telling people how smart I am.  I put my tiny feet on the door to signal you I need to go outside.  I try to get up on the furniture, but I’ve been told NO (insert eye roll here) so I’ve learned that word very quickly.  And I now know that I need to sit like a good girl when it’s time to put on my leash. A few other nuggets on Betty: Prey Drive:  Betty seems uninterested in small critters during her “sniff and stroll” time, but not has been cat tested. Is Betty vocal?  Yes.  She alerts to new people quite a bit, although she warms quickly. Kennel Training:  Betty is kenneled during the workday but does not sleep in her kennel. Other Dogs:  Betty does great with other dogs!  To date she has only been exposed to dogs her own size. Children:  Betty seems very interested in children, although she has yet to meet them.  When she hears the neighborhood kids outside, she perks up and wags her tail.  It’s very likely Betty would do quite well in a home with children. Betty has brought a lot of joy to her foster home with her happy personality and goofy character.  She is very playful and would make a wonderful addition to any family!   ##2077140##

Story
Hi! I'm Bandit. I'm from Arkansas. Meet Bandit! Bandit is a 5 month old Jack Russell mix. He is about 20 pounds. Bandit is a happy puppy who gets along well with other dogs and kids. Bandit can be shy, but opens up well with consistency and love. From his foster: Bandit is a fun loving pup. He loves his people and will follow you everywhere. His favorite spot is at your feet. He is still learning about new things-but is gaining confidence with new people and pups. He loves walks and exploring the yard. He will stop when he gets distracted in the yard-turkeys, deer, loud birds. Treats are the trick. He sleeps all night in his crate with the door open. He's working at being in his crate when we are gone. He loves to play with one of our dogs but quickly picked up on our older dogs disinterest. He is still working on house training, a schedule works great. He is a very sweet lovable pup, we so enjoy having him here.

Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy is a 6yr old, Terrier mix, spayed female and up to date on vaccines/preventatives. She is house trained, kennel trained, and vehicle trained as well. Poppy is a medium energy dog; feisty and likes to socialize BUT she's a little crusty on the outside and super gooey on the inside. She loves her people and her friends; however, you'll need to earn her trust. Poppy can be energetic, plays casually and enjoys sustained games of chase with her friends, on her terms (fun police.) She can get cranky if play becomes too vigorous and she gets pounced on too much/hard. Poppy has a little bit of arthritis, and it can be painful, so she will gladly retreat to the door to let you know she is done with playtime. She is more than willing to go inside, follow you around or curl up, chill, and get her belly rubbed. Being small but mighty, Poppy occasionally has bouts of barking at what she sees moving in the distance and will go zooming up and down the fence line in arousal of anyone/thing approaching; however, she will calm down on her own with minimal intervention from her person. When greeting you, Poppy displays the typical wiggle body and wildly wagging tail. Have you seen how long her tail is?! It waves like a banner over her back and is simply adorable! She may initially hop up to put her feet on you, letting you know she's happy and wants to interact with you, she loves attention and will display a little eagerness to get more loves... so saying her name as she's being petted, and the name of the other dog(s) being petted keeps her content. Noteworthy Behaviors: Poppy displays barrier reactivity with new people/surroundings as a way to express her anxiety in the situation. She will need a person or family, (with older children), who will understand and take their time with her. Once you win her over, she is gold! She is quirky about having her collar touched so she will whine, cower down, and roll to her side. She will display mouthy behavior as you attempt to put a leash on her, but she genuinely wants to go out so don't give up! She will pop right up and head to the door after being leashed!! Key points to consider when adopting Poppy: she is sugar and spice with bursts of energy so great with a laid back and an active family. Honorable mention: Poppy does have a housemate, Sully, who is also up for adoption. If you're looking for two friends, then they are your duo! They would have an easier transition into a new home together but they are not bonded. $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes transport to your area) $50 Fuel temporary fuel surcharge

Story
Meet Milo, an adorable 13-year-old senior dog! Milo and Daphne came into rescue as their previous owner passed away. Although he might be a bit older, Milo still has lots of love and affection to give to his forever family. He would be the most successful in a home with no cats, dogs, and with a fence, preferably a privacy fence. He does not jump fences, but does bark and growl at other dogs so it would be best if he does not have to interact with other dogs. Milo is the perfect companion for someone looking for a more low-key, yet affectionate dog.He loves to cuddle and snuggle. He is used to being alone at home. Milo is very loyal and will stick by your side through thick and thin. He would do best in a calm and quiet home where he can take life at his own pace. Milo may have a hard time getting along with other dogs, but he's sure to steal your heart with his charming personality and loving nature! He is not a fan of fireworks and thunderstorms so he does have an anti-anxiety medication he takes as needed. *More information and photos added over time. But his favorite thing is to snuggle and take naps in your lap.    Tank would do very well with a family. He loves playing and snuggling with his foster kids (ages 11, 13 and 16) and is having amazing naps and movie snuggles with her foster parents. Tank loves playing and keeping up with his brother and also foster dog who is 8.   He is doing really well with his crate and potty training. He happily spends the nights in his kennel and makes it through the night completely dry waking about 7:30 am. He is rocking it during the day as long as he is let out. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Rubia is very sweet and calm. She needs a little time to warm up to strangers and while she doesn't love to be carried, she does love to snuggle close during down times and at night. Rubia would love a quiet life with someone who spend a lot of time with her. She always looks very sincere and serious. She is a calm and gentle presence. She also LOVES to go on walks and is an excellent walker. Rubia is from Texas. One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you. Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 23, 2024, 6:05 am
