You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $275 plus taxBertrand is very mild mannered and plays well with other dogs although can get a little over excited when playing outside. He is houstrained and well behaved when left non crated.  Bertrand recently had a tumor removed from his back leg. The tumor is called a mast cell tumor and is luckily considered 'low grade' meaning that it is unlikely to recur or spread to other parts of the body. Even tho recurrence is unlikely it is still possible so Bertrand will need to be closely monitored for new bumps and have them removed as an extra precaution. He has fully recovered from his surgery and is a happy go lucky boy who says to heck with cancer!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Meet Milo, an adorable 13-year-old senior dog! Milo and Daphne came into rescue as their previous owner passed away. Although he might be a bit older, Milo still has lots of love and affection to give to his forever family. He would be the most successful in a home with no cats, dogs, and with a fence, preferably a privacy fence. He does not jump fences, but does bark and growl at other dogs so it would be best if he does not have to interact with other dogs. Milo is the perfect companion for someone looking for a more low-key, yet affectionate dog.He loves to cuddle and snuggle. He is used to being alone at home. Milo is very loyal and will stick by your side through thick and thin. He would do best in a calm and quiet home where he can take life at his own pace. Milo may have a hard time getting along with other dogs, but he's sure to steal your heart with his charming personality and loving nature! He is not a fan of fireworks and thunderstorms so he does have an anti-anxiety medication he takes as needed. *More information and photos added over time. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/adopt/forms/ FOSTER CARE: Our rescues are fostered in individual homes or at our facility. We work hard to ensure that our rescues have a supportive family while at foster homes to help them move forward and get ready for their forever home. We work on training, crate-training and socialization before a dog is adopted out. Foster homes are extremely important to the success of the cat at their forever home, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to watch the cats growth as you help them on their journey to their happy ending. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please fill out our application at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/adopt/foster-application/ YOU CAN HELP: If you’re not able to foster or adopt right now, please consider sponsoring a Legend. Story
Meet Uncle Buck, a lively terrier with boundless energy and a heart of gold. At 15 pounds, he may be small in stature, but he makes up for it with his big personality. Now, let's address the elephant in the room—Uncle Buck's enthusiasm is off the charts! He's what you might call "OMG" levels of energetic, and he's not afraid to show it. His excitement sometimes manifests in mouthiness and jumping. In fact, he once managed to snag a handful of bangs during a particularly exuberant greeting. But hey, at least he's consistent—whether it's grabbing hair or jumping up for attention, Uncle Buck is always ready to make an entrance. Uncle Buck is a bit of a resource guarder when it comes to his bones, but he's not unreasonable about it. A little growl here, a strategic relocation there—it's all part of his process. However, it's worth noting that this behavior might not be suitable for households with young children who might not understand his boundaries. Despite his quirks, Uncle Buck is a charmer through and through. He's incredibly intelligent and loves nothing more than being around people. With a little patience and some consistent training, he's sure to pick up manners in no time. Plus, his impeccable bite inhibition means that while his antics may leave a mark (or a few bruises), they're more likely to result in scratches than anything else. In essence, Uncle Buck is a spirited terrier with a heart as big as his personality. He may demand attention with barks and snaps, but beneath it all, he's just a pup looking for love and companionship. So, if you're ready for a lively companion who will keep you on your toes (literally), then Uncle Buck might just be the perfect match for you. ##2014773##

Story
Hi! I'm Bandit. I'm from Arkansas. Meet Bandit! Bandit is a 5 month old Jack Russell mix. He is about 20 pounds. Bandit is a happy puppy who gets along well with other dogs and kids. Bandit can be shy, but opens up well with consistency and love. From his foster: Bandit is a fun loving pup. He loves his people and will follow you everywhere. His favorite spot is at your feet. He is still learning about new things-but is gaining confidence with new people and pups. He loves walks and exploring the yard. He will stop when he gets distracted in the yard-turkeys, deer, loud birds. Treats are the trick. He sleeps all night in his crate with the door open. He's working at being in his crate when we are gone. He loves to play with one of our dogs but quickly picked up on our older dogs disinterest. He is still working on house training, a schedule works great. He is a very sweet lovable pup, we so enjoy having him here.

Story
Meet Poppy! Poppy is a 6yr old, Terrier mix, spayed female and up to date on vaccines/preventatives. She is house trained, kennel trained, and vehicle trained as well. Poppy is a medium energy dog; feisty and likes to socialize BUT she's a little crusty on the outside and super gooey on the inside. She loves her people and her friends; however, you'll need to earn her trust. Poppy can be energetic, plays casually and enjoys sustained games of chase with her friends, on her terms (fun police.) She can get cranky if play becomes too vigorous and she gets pounced on too much/hard. Poppy has a little bit of arthritis, and it can be painful, so she will gladly retreat to the door to let you know she is done with playtime. She is more than willing to go inside, follow you around or curl up, chill, and get her belly rubbed. Being small but mighty, Poppy occasionally has bouts of barking at what she sees moving in the distance and will go zooming up and down the fence line in arousal of anyone/thing approaching; however, she will calm down on her own with minimal intervention from her person. When greeting you, Poppy displays the typical wiggle body and wildly wagging tail. Have you seen how long her tail is?! It waves like a banner over her back and is simply adorable! She may initially hop up to put her feet on you, letting you know she's happy and wants to interact with you, she loves attention and will display a little eagerness to get more loves... so saying her name as she's being petted, and the name of the other dog(s) being petted keeps her content. Noteworthy Behaviors: Poppy displays barrier reactivity with new people/surroundings as a way to express her anxiety in the situation. She will need a person or family, (with older children), who will understand and take their time with her. Once you win her over, she is gold! She is quirky about having her collar touched so she will whine, cower down, and roll to her side. She will display mouthy behavior as you attempt to put a leash on her, but she genuinely wants to go out so don't give up! She will pop right up and head to the door after being leashed!! Key points to consider when adopting Poppy: she is sugar and spice with bursts of energy so great with a laid back and an active family. Honorable mention: Poppy does have a housemate, Sully, who is also up for adoption. If you're looking for two friends, then they are your duo! They would have an easier transition into a new home together but they are not bonded. $200 Local adoption fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes transport to your area) $50 Fuel temporary fuel surcharge

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   Bailey is a sweet, 3 year old mixed breed, guesses on the breed mix, Rat Terrier or JRT/Beagle/Whippet? (guessing!) She is a very sweet girl, has lived with other dogs, but is better with dogs her size or bigger and maybe better to mix with males. She was a little dominant with a smaller, meeker female than her (Terrier!? ) So best with perhaps male or larger, males or can be a solo dog. Interested in adopting? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.   3 year old brother and sister pair Bonnie and Clyde are NOT, I repeat NOT anything like their namesakes - zero criminal history.  Maybe a “stolen” treat or “kidnapped” stuffie.   Similar to the story of Bonnie and Clyde, they are a story of love.  Bonnie is the sibling that makes sure to keep an eye on things. She’s the one that will start the puppy, play bow to get the wrestling rolling. Clyde will be the doggo that wants to gently stretch his legs up on your body, waiting for a head scratch. They are never far from each other, and are still learning to be brave and open up, since coming into rescue. They are both non-reactive to dogs on walks, but they are definitely new to walking on leashes in a busy suburban neighborhood, since they’ve been living for the last year at a vet's office in Kentucky. Since they are very curious and still getting used to living in a home, they will require a secure yard.   Bonnie and Clyde are currently being fostered in a home with other dogs and everybody is getting along great. Currently they are sleeping in a crate together at night, but they could easily transition to no crate and your bed.  I mean - what dog can’t love their human’s bed? They spend a good deal of time watching the “nature show” that’s tuned into the back patio door.  If you have an interest in dabbling in agility or fly ball, these siblings would be a fun pair to train. What could be better than to wake up to one of these sweet pups; waking up to two, of course!!  Interested in adopting?
