Story
Gracie came into rescue in Texas with her puppies, and now that her momma duties are behind her, she’s ready to discover what it means to simply be a spoiled, loved, and cherished dog. Gracie is a sweet, shy, low-energy girl who is still coming out of her shell. She’s a pretty easygoing dog, but she needs a patient family who will give her the time and space to settle in, build confidence, and discover her personality at her own pace. She does well with other dogs, including playful dogs. Gracie doesn't really play yet herself, but she seems comfortable being around dogs who do. As she becomes more confident and learns what it means to just be a dog, we suspect she may discover that playing is pretty fun, too! She does not need another dog in her home, but a calm, friendly canine companion could be a nice influence for her. Gracie has not been exposed to cats, so we don't yet know how she would feel about feline roommates. She does well with older, respectful children who understand that a shy dog may need a little time to warm up. She is good in her crate and is slowly learning what that funny leash thing is all about. Like so many dogs who haven't had much experience as pets, Gracie is still learning some of the basics, and she's been so brave, learning to open up and trust her people. We expect that as Gracie settles in and feels safe, more and more of her personality will come out. There may be a silly, playful, affectionate girl hiding in there who just needs the opportunity to blossom. For now, Gracie is looking for a quiet, patient home where she can learn, grow, and finally experience the life she deserves. She was a mom. Now it's Gracie's turn to be someone's baby. Gracie is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 09/12/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30 and 11:30am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Meet Kiwi! Kiwi is a silly, high-energy girl who loves to run, play, and keep life entertaining! She absolutely adores her foster siblings and does great with dog-friendly dogs. Toys are one of her favorite things, and she can’t wait to find someone who will play with her—and then snuggle with her afterward. ❤️ Kiwi is also quite the little watchdog. She may bark when she first meets you, at unfamiliar noises, or simply to let everyone know she’s there and that this is her house! Once she warms up to you, though, she turns into an absolute doll. She loves lounging in the window for a good nap and soaking up the sunshine. Kiwi does enjoy mouthy play and can get a little bity when she’s excited, so she’ll benefit from continued guidance and redirection. If you’re looking for a fun, playful, affectionate girl with a big personality, Kiwi might just be just be your perfect match! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!           If you’re looking for a happy, affectionate sidekick who’s always up for fun, Shoelace may be your perfect match! This young mixed-breed girl is an absolute delight with a heart full of love and a playful spirit that makes every day more fun. Shoelace loves everyone she meets and is eager to please her people. Whether she’s chasing toys around the yard, chewing on a favorite bone, or curling up for snuggles after a day of adventure, she’s happiest simply spending time with her family. Her favorite place to be is outside, soaking up everything a Minnesota summer has to offer! Because she’s still working on her leash skills, a securely fenced yard is needed, or a commitment to continue her leash skills, so she can safely run, play, and burn off her puppy energy. Shoelace is potty trained, crate trained, and does wonderfully with other dog-friendly dogs. While she’d certainly enjoy having a canine friend, she doesn’t require one if her people are home most of the time and can give her plenty of love and attention. Loyal, playful, and endlessly sweet, Shoelace is ready to become someone’s very best friend. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who will keep you smiling and then happily snuggle up beside you at the end of the day, Shoelace can’t wait to meet you!   I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. Sadie is very sweet. She is 9yrs old. She is hesitant at first to meet strangers. Let her sniff your hand before trying to pet her and she warms up quickly. Sadie is kennel trained and potty trained. Doesn't bark except when someone comes to the door. She likes to take walks and people watch. She doesn't play with toys very long. Likes a good chew bone and a cozy quiet place to nap.She would do better in a home with older kids.I have supplies and food for her.

Story
I need a temp foster from September 3-9. (I'm available for adoption too!) Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can help! A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by The Wilbur Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $250.00 will be applied during the contract process. Hi, my name is Neuf and I'm from Minnesota. From his foster: Neuf is a happy, spunky, energetic guy who loves squeaky toys, playing with other dogs, and zooming around the yard. He’s very smart and highly food-motivated, making him responsive to training and eager to learn. Neuf has completed professional training and continues to make impressive progress with structure and consistency. One of Neuf’s biggest accomplishments has been his leash walking. When he first arrived in foster care, he struggled to make it around the block without becoming overstimulated. Today, he happily enjoys 2–3 mile walks and continues to improve every week. He still benefits from clear guidance and consistency, but he has shown just how capable he is of learning new skills. Neuf does great in his crate overnight and is fully potty trained, going right away when let out. He enjoys being close to his people and loves to relax after a day of activity. Neuf can be vocal when he hears unfamiliar sounds or meets new people, but he has made tremendous progress in these areas as well. While he may still bark occasionally, he is much calmer than when he first entered foster care and recovers more quickly from exciting situations. With calm, patient introductions, he becomes friendly, affectionate, and eager for attention. To help him continue building confidence and good coping skills, Neuf currently takes anti-anxiety medication under veterinary supervision. This has been a helpful part of his training and behavior plan, and his adopters should be comfortable continuing to work with their veterinarian to determine what support is best for him in the future. Neuf is very playful and may become mouthy during moments of excitement or greetings. This is not aggressive behavior, but he will benefit from continued reinforcement of appropriate play skills. Because of his enthusiasm and energy level, he would do best with adults or older children who understand dog boundaries. Neuf is good with other dogs but has been known to chase cats, so a cat-free home is recommended. Neuf has come a long way and continues to show what a resilient, loving dog he is. He is looking for an adopter who will appreciate his intelligence, celebrate his progress, and continue helping him grow. In return, you'll get a loyal companion with plenty of personality, affection, tail wags, and snuggles to share. Neuf has completed a Stay and Learn program with Happy Dog Lodge in Cambridge, MN, to work on his on his reactivity. This program will provide continued email and phone support to Neuf's adopter.

Story
Hi! My name is Weasel! Weasel is a sweet and enthusiastic dog who loves excitement and exploration and wants to play. He enjoys squeaky toys and chew toys, and bully sticks and kongs are his favorites. When he takes a break he likes sitting on the top of our loveseat to watch out the window at the cars that drive by. He’s very food motivated and will be your sous chef in the kitchen and will help do the pre-rinse at the dishwasher if you let him. 😂 He’s an aspiring counter surfer and will steal from your coffee table if you give him a chance. He sleeps in the kennel at night and goes in when I go to work but doesn’t enjoy it, and I find covering it at night settles him faster. He’ll do great in a home as an only dog, but amazing in a home with a dog who would play with him. From the Vet: Weasel received his final heartworm injection treatment on 8/13 - He is so close to being heartworm free he can smell it! He will need to stay extra calm for the next 30 days, but after that he can return to normal activity and be an active happy dog again! His adopters will want to continue on monthly heartworm prevention meds to make sure he stays protected and recheck a heartworm test in 9 months, but overall we expect treatment successful and there isn't evidence that he has any long term damage from his condition/treatment. Only good days ahead for Weasel!
