Story
Meet Annenue! This adolescent black lab GSD mix came to the Shelter from a loving home but did not experience much of the world before coming to the Shelter. Things can be scary for her and while she mostly avoids, if people do not listen to her body language – she communicates her need for space more loudly. Beneath that hard shell, is a delicate Annenue waiting to shine. Annenue would thrive in a quiet home with a dog savvy adopter who will give her the time and patience to warm up. A home with another dog-savvy dog may be a fit for Annenue provided they meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. A home with kids is not recommended. Annenue’s adopters will be required to commit to force free training to increase her confidence and comfort with the world around her.

Story
*ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED BY GENEROUS DONOR*WEIGHT: ~68lbs.This is Sharpie. Wants everyone to know his love is permanent, and cannot be washed off. Behold, a Sharp Pei/Lab mix that absolutely looks the part. The unmistakable Shar Pei face plopped onto the body of an English Black Lab. We don't have DNA to prove it but...Sharpie is about 4 years old and he's a sweet guy who loves walks, people (and is a kid's camp superstar!), and playing with other dogs. He does NOT like his shelter bedroom and will tell anyone who'll listen. He wants to be footloose and fancy-free and once he is out, here come the tail wags and butt wiggles. He also votes no on cats but is literally the most easy-going dogs in all other ways!Who's looking for a big hunk of permanent love? Call our adoptions desk or feel free to stop by the shelter during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cuddly PalRodrick is a 45lb Lab/Weimaraner mix. Rodrick is such a sweet pal of a dog! He loves playing with his 4-legged sister, watching sports while snuggling on the couch, taking walks in the neighborhood and local parks, long car rides, and hanging out while his foster dad works on his computer.   He has learned that "Sit" is a great default position and he is working on learning his name for recall as well as "Place" and "Down". Rodrick is an enthusiastic learner and shines as he strives to please his human friends!   We do not know why Rodrick landed in the shelter, but he is still learning to be trusting of the world and of strangers. Moments of chaos or surprising appearances of unknown people are very stressful for Rodrick. While on leash he is also unsure about other dogs, bicycles, skateboards or runners. He is working with his foster dad and a trainer to work on his reactivity and learn to trust new people and has made good progress in the past month.   Rodrick is seeking a home where there is some predictability and a calm environment. He connects deeply with a few people, and needs slow introductions to new people. SVPP is working with a trainer and helping Rodrick to learn that he can be safe when the unexpected happens. Continuing training support will be provided to his adopter. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetprojectVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 25, 2024, 8:05 pm

07/24/24 23:46Dog Day Out notes from last week:Today I: Went for a long hike along Coyote Creek Trail and in Shady Oaks Park, where I saw many runners, bikes and dogs. Was a bit nervous at first, frequently looking all around me, but quickly warmed up to the walk and got comfortable. I got lots of pets and treats along the way, which helped. Afterward, I went for a pup cup at Starbucks before going back to the shelter.Three Words to Describe Me are: Friendly, energetic, cautiousNotes from My Walker: Nelly is a little cautious at first, did not want to get in the car for a bit but did let me pick him up and put him in after a bit. He quickly got comfortable and we had no issues. It was a bit of the same at the start of our walk, with him frequently turning around to gauge his surroundings but then happily continuing the walk. He stopped his ‘scanning’ after 15-20 mins and frequently ‘checked in’. Overall I thought he did really well and was easy to walk. Was interested in other dogs but wouldn’t pull too hard to get to them. Enjoyed meeting him and would happily walk again!

Story
07/12/24 11:38Bruno is an active middle aged handsome fellow who’s ideal home would have a comfy bed, lots of pets and treats, and multiple daily short walks. Bruno is an affectionate guy and will lean in fully for pets! He absolutely loves treats and sits ready and eager for more. This boy has shown he is potty trained and volunteers make every effort to get him out regularly so he can keep up those good habits and make a seamless transition into a home. Bruno is more interested in treats than toys, but he does enjoy some ball time and loves to sniff! A fun game for him includes sniffing for treats in a pile of toys. Bruno can be vocal greeting dogs, but he is dog friendly and participates in doggie playgroups. This boy is ready for his forever home!

Story
Pepper is very sweet, sociable, and loves kids most. He is also a good guard dog in that he will let you know when someone is at the door. We think he needs more companionship that we cannot provide him and is anxious as a result. We think he needs a big yard as well.
