Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cuddly PalRodrick is a 45lb Lab/Weimaraner mix. Rodrick is such a sweet pal of a dog! He loves playing with his 4-legged sister, watching sports while snuggling on the couch, taking walks in the neighborhood and local parks, long car rides, and hanging out while his foster dad works on his computer.   He has learned that "Sit" is a great default position and he is working on learning his name for recall as well as "Place" and "Down". Rodrick is an enthusiastic learner and shines as he strives to please his human friends!   We do not know why Rodrick landed in the shelter, but he is still learning to be trusting of the world and of strangers. Moments of chaos or surprising appearances of unknown people are very stressful for Rodrick. While on leash he is also unsure about other dogs, bicycles, skateboards or runners. He is working with his foster dad and a trainer to work on his reactivity and learn to trust new people and has made good progress in the past month.   Rodrick is seeking a home where there is some predictability and a calm environment. He connects deeply with a few people, and needs slow introductions to new people. SVPP is working with a trainer and helping Rodrick to learn that he can be safe when the unexpected happens. Continuing training support will be provided to his adopter. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetprojectVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 29, 2024, 8:46 pm

Story
04/16/24 08:53When approaching he backs away and sits on his bed with a tail wag and ears pinned back. I half kennel him and then i am able to leash without a problem. He is hesitant to come out of kennel but with a little pull he comes out. Once outside he loosens up, play bows, high tail wag. He pulls hard to the play yard and is non-reactive on a leash. Once in the yard he has a burst of energy, play bows, picks up toys and starts running with them. After a couple minutes of playing fetch he allows handling and I was able to pick up his paws, touch his tail, stomach, back, and complete a full restrain. When going for a restrain he will slip out and start to playbow and run around. When going back there was a loose dog in the courtyard that came up to ozzy they both got stiff and then play bowed. No issues returning. Making available for adoption. candidate for playgroup.
