TOBY Available for adoption FAST FACTSMale, Medium Mixed Breed, 51lbs, 2 years oldSweet, Loving, ShyLow / Medium EnergySlow to warm up to menDog FriendlyKids UnknownCats UnknownPotty TrainedCrate Trained Hi everyone, I’m Toby, though my foster family has been calling me Obi Wan Kenobi which everyone thinks is really cute! I was found as a stray in rural Missouri and dropped off at the local shelter..  When no one claimed me, and my time was running out, I was taken in by a local woman who partners with CARE. I was soon on my way to Skokie, where I was placed in a wonderful foster home.  I’d never before experienced such kindness and affection and I wasn’t sure what to do. I was actually afraid of the attention but now I understand that loving homes exist, and I adore the attention!  I still get a little nervous  around new people and situations, but with gentle encouragement I’m getting used to change and my foster mom tells me how brave I am.  I do get nervous around small children who run toward me and I bark to let them know, but I have no interest in hurting them. In fact, if they continue toward me, I hide behind my foster mom.  My favorite activity is staying close by your side and doing whatever you’re doing.  Whether it’s household chores, assisting you in the kitchen (I’m an excellent taste-tester), watching TV, or anything else, you’ll always have a loyal buddy to keep you company.  And while I’m very low-key around the house, I do like to run around outside.  Chasing squirrels and birds and fetching balls—so much fun!  I also enjoy going on walks (I have good leash manners) and playing with other friendly dogs we meet along the way (and ignoring those who bark at me). I also like cats. They fascinate me. My foster family has two of them and while they don’t want to play, they’re cool with sniffing, nuzzling and an occasional cuddle on the couch.  I’m proud to report that I am potty-trained. Sometimes I forget to let my person know it’s time to go outside and suddenly it’s too late. But my foster family is helping me communicate better and this doesn’t happen very often. Now that I’m on a regular schedule, I can make it through the night without be crated, waiting to do my business until morning.  I’m crossing my paws (see photo) that my bio inspires you to fill out an adoption application right away and schedule a visit.  Please overlook my initial shyness and give me the opportunity to get to know you and become your new best friend! I have been neutered and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. For more information or if you would like to meet me, please fill out an adoption survey at carenorthshore.org/dog-adoption-survey Love & licks,TobyJuly 13, 2024, 2:58 pm

Dixie Available for Adoption FAST FACTS* Female Medium Size Mixed Breed, 5-Years Old, 35 Pounds* Loving, Cuddly, Playful, Smart* High Energy* People/Kid Friendly* Dog Friendly* Cat Friendly* Potty Trained* Crate Trained Greetings from Dixie, a sweet girl who loves to meet new people and learn new things. I quickly showed the staff and volunteers how friendly I am (I’ve never me a stranger), and that I have brains to go with my beauty. I already know several verbal commands—hand signals, too—and never tire of showing off my “turnaround.” Everyone at the shelter agrees I’d be a natural at agility, if that activity interests you, or even search and rescue (my nose is very keen). Aside from schmoozing with humans (I’m a bit of a Velcro pooch), I love walks, car rides, and my soft bed and fake furblanket. Lastly, you can count on me to always do my business outdoors and to settle in my crate when asked. Summing up, if you’re looking for an active gal who can’t wait to give a person/family all my love and devotion, then please fill out an adoption application and come and meet me. My tail is wagging in anticipation. I have been spayed and microchipped and have had a full veterinary checkup and vaccines. My adoption fee is $325. Story
Meet Fanta, Finley, Fisher, Fanny, Fergi, and Fitz! These beautiful babes were found in a box along side a road in Mississippi. They are a sweet bunch who are eager to please. They will do great with a family who will shower them with treats and long walks. Please help these cuties find the forever families they deserve! Here's what Fanny's foster had to say:Here is what her foster had to say:"Fanny is so sweet! We took her for a Doggy Day Out from Morton Grove and she was a doll! She's great with kids, and such a snuggler! Fanny watched our older dog to learn how to walk nicely on a leash! She had a long walk, a pup cup, and an overall beautiful day. Fanny is a great pup!"Follow up:"We had a wonderful week hosting Fanny! A few facts about this little girl: She's curious about everything! What's behind the couch, what's on the counter and in the fridge, where can I explore? One minute she's zooming, the next she's chillaxin on the lawn, then back to the zoomies. For the most part, she pottied outside. Puppies seem to need to get used to pottying on walks as well as in the yard. Fanny will sit for you. She didn't pick up giving her paw, but we only had 5 days.Make room on your couch because she's a snuggler! Sometimes she would act like she couldn't jump up, we think she just wanted to be lifted up. She's very comfortable with dog-stairs. Once she grows and needs to get in a car, she'll be fine if you need to use stairs. Whomever adopts this sweet girl will be very happy!" -----------------------------------------------THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SAVING A LIFE!Volunteers and staff are excited to assist you in the adoption process!
